      • A Comparison of the Lookup Table and On-The-Fly Calculation Methods for the Beamforming Control Unit

Bo Yang,Jia Hao Cheong,Yvonne Ying Hung Lam,Lian Soon Ng 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7

Modern diagnostic ultrasound beamformers require extensive delay information for the focusing of each focal point along the image lines. For a typical beamforming system with dynamic delays, the beamforming control unit is used to calculate the delay information and generate instant delay profiles in order to achieve dynamic focusing beamforming. In this study, the beamforming control unit targeted at a home-based portable delta-sigma oversampled ultrasound beamforming setup was developed. The beamforming principle for 1-D linear transducer array with dynamic aperture was exploited, and three delay generation methods including complete lookup table, compressed lookup table with delta encoding and general parametric algorithm were investigated, implemented and synthesized using VHDL for a FPGA device Spartan-3E XC3S500E. A comparison was performed among the three delay generation methods on their performances in terms of overall logic resource usage and power consumption.

Numerical Study on Temperature Distribution of High-strength Concrete-filled Steel Tubes Subjected to a Fire

        Ying Hu,Pengfei Zhao,Bo Yang,Guoxin Dai 한국강구조학회 2016 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.16 No.4

High-strength concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns offer a number of benefits and are widely used in high-rise building construction. This paper presents a brand new thermal modeling approach in comparison with tremendous test data for the heat transfer analysis. A heat transfer model has been developed to predict the thermal response of high-strength CFST columns under standard fire conditions with consideration of a number of parameters: steel and furnace emissivity, thermal interface conductance and concrete strength. The verified numerical models discussed the variation of emissivity of steel surfaces and thermal interface conductance in fire. It can be concluded that the influence of emissivity and thermal interface conductance is considerable in the numerical analysis. It is also demonstrated that thermal behavior of high-strength CFST columns subjected to fire during heating and cooling stages, and providing the guidance on predicting thermal response of high-strength concrete-filled steel tube columns.

The microRNA expression profiles of mouse mesenchymal stem cell during chondrogenic differentiation

( Bo Yang ),( Hong Feng Guo ),( Yu Lan Zhang ),( Shi Wu Dong ),( Da Jun Ying ) 생화학분자생물학회(구 한국생화학분자생물학회) 2011 BMB Reports Vol.44 No.1

MicroRNAs are potential key regulators in mesenchymal stem cells chondrogenic differentiation. However, there were few reports about the accurate effects of miRNAs on chondrogenic differentiation. To investigate the mechanisms of miRNAs-mediated regulation during the process, we performed miRNAs microarray in MSCs at four different stages of TGF-β3-induced chondrogenic differentiation. We observed that eight miRNAs were significantly up-regulated and five miRNAs were down- regulated. Interestingly, we found two miRNAs clusters, miR-143/145 and miR-132/212, kept on down-regulation in the process. Using bioinformatics approaches, we analyzed the target genes of these differentially expressed miRNAs and found a series of them correlated with the process of chondrogenesis. Furthermore, the qPCR results showed that the up-regulated (or down-regulated) expression of miRNAs were inversely associated with the expression of predicted target genes. Our results first revealed the expression profiles of miRNAs in chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs and provided a new insight on complicated regulation mechanisms of chondrogenesis. • Methylated Alteration of SHP1 Complements Mutation of JAK2 Tyrosine Kinase in Patients with Myeloproliferative Neoplasm

        Yang, Jun-Jun,Chen, Hui,Zheng, Xiao-Qun,Li, Hai-Ying,Wu, Jian-Bo,Tang, Li-Yuan,Gao, Shen-Meng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.6

SHP1 negatively regulates the Janus kinase 2/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK2/STAT) signaling pathway, which is constitutively activated in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) and leukemia. Promoter hypermethylation resulting in epigenetic inactivation of SHP1 has been reported in myelomas, leukemias and other cancers. However, whether SHP1 hypermethylation occurs in MPNs, especially in Chinese patients, has remained unclear. Here, we report that aberrant hypermethylation of SHP1 was observed in several leukemic cell lines and bone marrow mononuclear cells from MPN patients. About 51 of 118 (43.2%) MPN patients including 23 of 50 (46%) polycythaemia vera patients, 20 of 50 (40%) essential thrombocythaemia and 8 of 18 (44.4%) idiopathic myelofibrosis showed hypermethylation by methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction. However, SHP1 methylation was not measured in 20 healthy volunteers. Hypermethylation of SHP1 was found in MPN patients with both positive (34/81, 42%) and negative (17/37, 45.9%) JAK2V617F mutation. The levels of SHP1 mRNA were significantly lower in hypermethylated samples than unmethylated samples, suggesting SHP1 may be epigenetically inactivated in MPN patients. Furthermore, treatment with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (AZA) in K562 cells showing hypermethylation of SHP1 led to progressive demethylation of SHP1, with consequently increased reexpression of SHP1. Meanwhile, phosphorylated JAK2 and STAT3 were progressively reduced. Finally, AZA increased the expression of SHP1 in primary MPN cells with hypermethylation of SHP1. Therefore, our data suggest that epigenetic inactivation of SHP1 contributes to the constitutive activation of JAK2/STAT signaling. Restoration of SHP1 expression by AZA may contribute to clinical treatment for MPN patients.

Reliability Evaluation of Power System Operations Considering Time-Varying Features of Components

        Bo Hu,Ying Zheng,Hejun Yang,Yun Xia 대한전기학회 2015 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.10 No.4

The reliability of power system components can be affected by a numbers of factors such as the health level of components, external environment and operation environment of power systems. These factors also affect the electrical parameters of power system components for example the thermal capacity of a transmission element. The relationship of component reliability and power system is, therefore, a complex nonlinear function related to the above-mentioned factors. Traditional approaches for reliability assessment of power systems do not take the influence of these factors into account. The assessment results could not, therefore, reflect the short-term trend of the system reliability performance considering the influence of the key factors and provide the system dispatchers with enough information to make decent operational decisions. This paper discusses some of these important operational issues from the perspective of power system reliability. The discussions include operational reliability of power systems, reliability influence models for main performance parameters of components, time-varying reliability models of components, and a reliability assessment algorithm for power system operations considering the time-varying characteristic of various parameters. The significance of these discussions and applications of the proposed techniques are illustrated by case study results using the IEEE-RTS.

Nuclide assignment for an isolated band observed in the 10B + 114Cd reaction

        Yang Qing-Yu,Song Li-Na,Ma Ying-Jun,Yang Dong,Ma Ke-Yan,Wu Xiao-Guang,Zheng Yun,Li Cong-Bo 한국물리학회 2021 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.79 No.3

Three experiments based on the nuclear reactions 14N + 110Pd, 10B + 114Cd and 11B + 114Cd were performed. Coincidences between γ-rays emitted from these reactions were measured with the same detection array which consisted of 14 HPGe detectors. A new band structure was identified using an offline analysis of coincidence data. Because of the isomeric nature of the bandhead, the new band cannot be connected to any known state in any residual nuclei of the used reactions. To assign it to a specific nucleus, we evaluated the experimental population intensities of various known bands in known residual nuclei and investigated the entrance channel effects in the three different experiments. The population intensity patterns of the known bands were observed to exhibit regular systematics. Based on such experimental systematics, we suggest that the most reasonable nuclide assignment for the new band is the 120I nucleus.

        Shi-Ying Zhou,Gui-He Qin,Yang Xun,Yu-Bo Jin 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.2 No.3

Eelectronic device technology has been monopolized by binary system for many years. The circs not only makes it impossible to break through the existing technology bottleneck, but also brings a lot of potential safety problems. Aiming at this question, a new electronic communication technology is presented in this paper. The technology quantifies the time axis and the voltage axis synchronously, uses the quantified time dot as the address of the communication, and realizes the transmission of the multi-system [1] data via transmitting the multi-steps voltage quantification. The technology solves the bottleneck problem of the speed, circuit and electromagnetism in the electronic communication, changes the binary system coding mode and communication connection form of the electronic device, reduces the transmission quantity of the redundant information, advances the security of electronic system and network, debases the complexity of the devices connection, enhances the rate of the processing and the transmission, simplifies the transformation between the difference protocols. The experimental results approve the validity and the robustness of the technology.

A Study on Cutting and Tribology Performances of TiN and TiAlN Coated Tools

        Hua-Ying Li,Hui-Bo He,Wen-Qiang Han,Jun Yang,Tao Gu,Yuan-ming Li,류성기 한국정밀공학회 2015 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

TiN and TiAlN coatings were deposited on the surface of AISI 5140 steel and cemented carbide YT15 by magnetron sputteringtechnique (MSP). The reciprocating sliding tests of TiN and TiAIN coatings on the surface of AISI 5140 steel were performed toinvestigate the friction coefficients of coatings affected by various normal loads with friction pair of 304 stainless steel balls. Drymachining tests on AISI 5140 hardened steel were carried out with the TiN and TiAlN coated tools on a CA6140A lathe. The effectsof cutting speed on cutting forces and surface roughness of TiN and TiAlN coated tools were obtained and analyzed to assess thecutting performance of coated tools. The microcosmic micrographs of wear areas of coated tools were observed and investigated byscanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrum. The results show that the friction coefficients of TiN coatings are lowerthan that of TiAlN coatings. The cutting force of TiAlN coated tool decreases and flank wear resistance enhances in comparison withTiN coated tool. The wear form and mechanisms of TiN coated tool are mainly crater wear on the rake face and adhesive wear andabrasive wear on the flank face. The wear form and mechanisms of TiAlN coated tool are mainly adhesive wear, the breakage ofcutting edge and the damage of tip, accompanied with diffusion and oxidation wear.

Mao, Ying-Min,Luo, Zu-Yan,Li, Bo,Hu, Ting-Yang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.3

Aim: Tanscatheter arterial embolization irrespective of with or without an anticancer agent and lipiodol has been controversial with regard to survival benefit. Therefore, we conducted a prospective study to analyze the effect of transcatheter arterial lipiodol chemoembolization (TACE) on the survival of HCC. Methods: A prospective study was conducted, and a total of 326 patients with primary liver cancer who were newly diagnosed were collected from January 2004 to January 2005 in Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital of China. A univariate Cox's regression analysis was used to assess the survival of the HCC cases receiving TACE. Results: The duration of follow-up for the HCC patients treated with TACE ranged from 3 months to 60 months. For the overall patients, survival rate at 5 years was 42%. Both HBV Ag and HCV Ab positive patients showed significantly low survival rate at 5 years. The multivariate analysis revealed The IV TNM stage was related to an heavy increased risk of death of HCC patients, and Child C grade group showed a significant moderate increased risk. Conclusion: Our study showed TACE is associated with a better prognosis of HCC patients, and the HBV infection, TNM stage, Child-Pugh grade and number of TACE may influence the survival probability. Further TACE studies should be assess the quality of life of HCC patients, so as to provide more information for treatment of HCC.
