• In vitro and in vivo Evaluation of the Antitumor Efficiency of Resveratrol Against Lung Cancer

Yin, Hai-Tao,Tian, Qing-Zhong,Guan, Luan,Zhou, Yun,Huang, Xin-En,Zhang, Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3

Lung cancer remains a deadly disease with unsatisfactory overall survival. Resveratrol (Res) has the potential to inhibit growth of several types of cancer such as prostate and colorectal examples. In the current study, we evaluated in vitro and in vivo anticancer efficiency of Res in a xenograft model with A549 cells. Cell inhibition effects of Res were measured by MTT assay. Apoptotis of A549 cells was assessed with reference to caspase-3 activity and growth curves of tumor volume and bodyweight of the mice were measured every two days. In vitro cytotoxicity evaluation indicated Res to exert dose-dependent cell inhibition effects against A549 cells with activation of caspase-3. In vivo evaluation showed Res to effectively inhibit the growth of lung cancer in a dose-dependent manner in nude mice. Therefore, we believe that Res might be a promising phytomedicine for cancer therapy and further efforts are needed to explore this potential therapeutic strategy.

Characteristic of SiC Slurry in Ultra Precision Lapping of Sapphire Substrates

        Tao Yin,ZhiDa Wang,Toshiro Doi,Syuhei Kurokawa,Zhe Tan,XiaoKang Ding,Huan Lin 한국정밀공학회 2021 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.22 No.6

A method is proposed in this paper to prepare a SiC slurry with SiC particles selected by an ultrasonic-assisted elutriation method to reduce substrate surface damage caused by abrasive particles during lapping. Sapphire substrate lapping experiments were carried out using the prepared SiC slurry, and the lapping performance of the slurry was analyzed. The experimental results show that the SiC particle size is a factor that directly affects the material removal rate and surface roughness Ra, of sapphire substrates. When a SiC slurry with a particle size of 630 nm was used, the material removal rate was 508 nm/h, and the surface roughness Ra was 1.9 nm; increasing the slurry concentration and the platen rotating speed can improve the material removal rate. In addition, the agglomeration of SiC particles in the slurry depends on the pH of the slurry. Efficient precision lapping of sapphire substrates can be achieved by selecting appropriately sized SiC particles and by adjusting the slurry pH to control the agglomeration and dispersion of SiC particlesto further reduce the scratches on the substrate surface during the lapping process.

Polishing Characteristics of MnO2 Polishing Slurry on the Si-face of SiC Wafer

Tao Yin,Tosiro Doi,구로가와슈헤이,Zhao zhong Zhou,Kai ping Feng 한국정밀공학회 2018 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.19 No.12

To realize an efficient and high-quality chemical-mechanical polishing process for the surface of a SiC wafer, a new type of MnO2 slurry is developed employing the multi-valence and oxidation-reduction characteristics of MnO2 particles. This slurry is utilized to polish the Si-face of SiC wafers. In this paper, the influences of the polishing particle concentration and the pH of slurry on MRR are analyzed, the polishing performance of the MnO2 slurry is studied, and the polishing mechanism of the MnO2 slurry on the SiC wafer is determined. The polishing mechanism of the MnO2 slurry is verified by selecting commonly used additives, such as KMnO4, and the influence of the additive amount on the MRR is analyzed. Finally, the surface morphology of the material after polishing is observed with analytical instruments. The experimental results show that the MRR of the MnO2 slurry is highly dependent on the pH value of the slurry. The MnO2 particles tend to convert into MnO4 - ions in an alkaline environment, and the strong oxidizing property of MnO4 - ions greatly improves the polishing efficiency. As the MnO4 - ion concentration increases, the MRR can reach over 600 nm/ h, and an ultra-smooth surface with a surface.

      • In Vivo Evaluation of Curcumin-loaded Nanoparticles in a A549 Xenograft Mice Model

Yin, Hai-Tao,Zhang, De-Geng,Wu, Xiao-Li,Huang, Xin-En,Chen, Gang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Curcumin (Cum) has been reported to have potential chemo-preventive and chemotherapeutic activity through influencing various processes, inducing cell cycle arrest, differentiation and apoptosis in a series of cancers. However, the poor solubility of Cum limits its further applications in the treatment of cancer. We have previously reported Cum-loaded nanoparticles (Cum-NPs) prepared with amphilic methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-polycaprolactone (mPEG-PCL) block copolymers. The current study demonstrated superior antitumor efficacy of Cum-NPs over free Cum in the treatment of lung cancer. In vivo evaluation further demonstrated superior anticancer effects of Cum-NPs by delaying tumor growth compared to free Cum in an established A549 transplanted mice model. Moreover, Cum-NPs showed little toxicity to normal tissues including bone marrow, liver and kidney at a therapeutic dose. These results suggest that Cum-NPs are effective to inhibit the growth of human lung cancer with little toxicity to normal tissues, and could provide a clinically useful therapeutic regimen. They thus merit more research to evaluate the feasibility of clinical application.

        Tao Meng,Tie-Zhen Ren,Qian-Qian Xu,Yin-Tao Li,Jian-Li Chang,Zhong-Yong Yuan 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.32 No.-

The Ni/reduced graphene oxide catalysts are synthesized by an in situ hydrothermal method, using thegraphene oxide as the support precursor. The textural and structural properties of the prepared Ni/reduced graphene oxide catalysts are characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmissionelectron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, H2-Temperature-programmed reduction, andelectrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The catalytic performances of the prepared Ni/reducedgraphene oxide catalysts for ammonia decomposition display the enhanced activity. The effect ofreduced graphene oxide support and the influence of nickel content on catalytic activity are evaluated, and the Ni/reduced graphene oxide catalysts exhibit higher catalytic activity than reduced grapheneoxide support and the pure NiO. The ammonia has a conversion of 81.9% and 27.4 mmol/min gcat H2 rateat 700 8C when the 10%-Ni/reduced graphene oxide catalyst used.

Comprehensive review: by-products from surimi production and better utilization

        Tao Yin,Jae W. Park 한국식품과학회 2023 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.32 No.14

Over 1 million MT of surimi is produced globally, which theoretically would generate approximate 2 million MT of solid by-products and more than 1 million MT of wash water. Utilization of the by-products has increasingly become interested based on their nutritional, economical, and environmental issues. Surimi by-products represent an important source of valuable compounds such as functional protein, collagen, gelatin, fish oil, peptides, minerals, and enzymes. Better utilization of the by-products would make the surimi industry sustainable and profitable. This review paper characterizes sources and composition of the solid by-products and wash water generated from the surimi production as well as factors related to extraction and processing techniques. In addition, the potential food applications are explored including specialty foods and snacks, flavor ingredients, bioactive ingredients, and functional ingredients. Moreover, an outlook summarizing the challenges and prospects on the utilization of surimi by-products is provided.

Anesthetic Management and Outcomes of Endovascular Treatment of Basilar Artery Occlusion: Results From the ATTENTION Registry

        Tao Chunrong,Yuan Guangxiong,Xu Pengfei,Wang Hao,Zhou Peiyang,Yi Tingyu,Li Kai,Cui Tao,Gao Jun,Li Rui,Sun Jun,Zhang Chao,Wang Li,Liu Tianlong,Song Jianlong,Yin Yamei,Nguyen Thanh N.,Li Qing,Hu Wei 대한뇌졸중학회 2023 Journal of stroke Vol.25 No.3

Background and Purpose To examine the clinical and safety outcomes after endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) with different anesthetic modalities. Methods This was a retrospective analysis using data from the Endovascular Treatment for Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion (ATTENTION) registry. Patients were divided into two groups defined by anesthetic modality performed during EVT: general anesthesia (GA) or non-general anesthesia (non-GA). The association between anesthetic management and clinical outcomes was evaluated in a propensity score matched (PSM) cohort and an inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) cohort to adjust for imbalances between the two groups. Results Our analytic sample included 1,672 patients from 48 centers. The anesthetic modality was GA in 769 (46.0%) and non-GA in 903 (54.0%) patients. In our primary analysis with the PSM-based cohort, non-GA was comparable to GA concerning the primary outcome (adjusted common odds ratio [acOR], 1.01; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.82 to 1.25; P=0.91). Mortality at 90 days was 38.4% in the GA group and 35.8% in the non-GA group (adjusted risk ratio, 0.95; 95% CI, 0.83 to 1.08; P=0.44). In our secondary analysis with the IPTW-based cohort, the anesthetic modality was significantly associated with the distribution of modified Rankin Scale at 90 days (acOR: 1.45 [95% CI: 1.20 to 1.75]). Conclusion In this nationally-representative observational study, acute ischemic stroke patients due to BAO undergoing EVT without GA had similar clinical and safety outcomes compared with patients treated with GA. These findings provide the basis for large-scale randomized controlled trials to test whether anesthetic management provides meaningful clinical effects for patients undergoing EVT.

      • Markov switching quantile regression models with time-varying transition probabilities

Tao Ye,Yin Juliang 한국통계학회 2022 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.51 No.3

Markov switching models are widely used in the time series field for their ability to describe the impact of latent regimes on the behaviour of response variables. Meanwhile, Markov switching quantile regression models with fixed transition probabilities (MSQR-FTP) also provide rich dynamics to modeling financial data, however, it is not always clear how to describe the dynamics on the transition probabilities. This paper extends the transition probabilities to be the time-varying case by allowing them to include information from related variables. By establishing a connection between a quantile regression and an asymmetric Laplace distribution, this paper proposes a maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method for MSQR-TVTP, and shows the consistency of the MLE. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is illustrated through a simulation study. As an empirical application, we further apply the method to the S&P 500 weekly percentage returns.
