      • Neural-Network-Based Vehicle Torque Demand Forecasting

Xun Shen,Tielong Shen 제어로봇시스템학회 2017 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.10

A multiple-step vehicle torque demand forecasting problem is investigated in this paper. Neural network method is applied to forecast toque demand in the future five steps based on the measurements of vehicle speed and torque demand in the past three steps. Neural networks for forecasting are trained based on history drive cycles’ data and used to do multiple-step forecasting in another drive cycle to verify the performance. Results of the application have shown that the desired goal has been successfully achieved.

      • Clinical Significance of Quantitative Analysis of Plasma Epstein-Barr Virus DNA in Patients of Xinjiang Uygur Nationality with Hodgkin's Lymphoma

        Li, Xun,Yang, Shun-E.,Guo, Yun-Quan,Shen, Ming-Xia,Gu, Li,Gulikezi, Gulikezi,Zhao, Bing,Liu, Wei,Tuerxun, Tuerxun,Bai, Jing-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12

Objective: To investigate the relationship between plasma EBV-DNA concentration and clinicopathologic features of Hodgkin's lymphoma cases. Methods: At first, the positive rate of plasma EBV-DNA was determined with a nested-PCR method using 45 specimens from Uygur HL patients, as well as 110 healthy people sampled as normal controls. Secondly, using fluorescent quantitative nested-PCR, EBV viral load was assessed in the EBV-DNA positive plasma samples. Then, relationships between plasma EBV viral load and clinicopathologic features of HL patients were analyzed. Results: The positive rate of plasma EBV-DNA of HL patients was significantly higher than that of normal controls (53.3% vs 26.4%, P=0.001). There was no significant difference about plasma EBV viral load between EBV-associated HL and EBV-DNA positive normal people (P=0.490). Looking at patients' characteristics, plasma EBV viral load in 10-20 years EBV-associated HL was higher than in EBV cases which were less than 10 years or more than 35 years (P=0.025). Furthermore, in EBV-associated HL, concentration of plasma EBV-DNA was significantly higher in advanced stage disease (stages III-IV; P=0.013), and with B-symptoms (P=0.020). Conclusion: EBV-DNA levels were associated with part of clinicopathologic features of cases. It was of practical use to screen HL. Further etiological studies appear warranted.

Long-term organic-inorganic fertilization ensures great soil productivity and bacterial diversity after natural-to-agricultural ecosystem conversion

        Weibing Xun,Zhihui Xu,Wei Li,Yi Ren,Ting Huang,Wei Ran,Boren Wang,Qirong Shen,Ruifu Zhang 한국미생물학회 2016 The journal of microbiology Vol.54 No.9

Natural ecosystems comprise the planet’s wild plant and animal resources, but large tracts of land have been converted to agroecosystems to support the demand for agricultural products. This conversion limits the number of plant species and decreases the soil biological diversity. Here we used highthroughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing to evaluate the responses of soil bacterial communities in long-term converted and fertilized red soils (a type of Ferralic Cambisol). We observed that soil bacterial diversity was strongly affected by different types of fertilization management. Oligotrophic bacterial taxa demonstrated large relative abundances in chemically fertilized soil, whereas copiotrophic bacterial taxa were found in large relative abundances in organically fertilized and fallow management soils. Only organic-inorganic fertilization exhibited the same local taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity as that of a natural ecosystem. However, the independent use of organic or inorganic fertilizer reduced local taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity and caused biotic homogenization. This study demonstrated that the homogenization of bacterial communities caused by natural-to-agricultural ecosystem conversion can be mitigated by employing rational organic-inorganic fertilization management.

Study of the Correlation of Plasma Resonance and the Refractive Index to Dielectric Dispersion in the Complex Plane

        Xiao-Yong Zhou,Yan Shen,Er-Tao Hu,Jian-Bo Chen,Yuan Zhao,Ming-Yu Sheng,Jing Li,Yu-Xiang Zheng,Hai-Bin Zhao,Liang-Yao Chen,Wei Li,Xun-Ya Jiang,이영백,David W. Lynch 한국광학회 2013 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.17 No.1

Based on the dispersive feature of the dielectric function of noble metals and the wave vector conservation in physics, both the plasma effect and the complex refractive index, which are profoundly correlated to the complex dielectric function and permeability, have been studied and analyzed. The condition to induce a bulk or a surface plasma in the visible region will not be satisfied, and there will be one solution for the real and the imaginary parts of the refractive index, restricting it only to region I of the complex plane. The results given in this work will aid in understanding the properties of light transmission at the metal/dielectric interface as characterized by the law of refraction in nature.

      • MAGED4 Expression in Glioma and Upregulation in Glioma Cell Lines with 5-Aza-2'-Deoxycytidine Treatment

        Zhang, Qing-Mei,Shen, Ning,Xie, Sha,Bi, Shui-Qing,Luo, Bin,Lin, Yong-Da,Fu, Jun,Zhou, Su-Fang,Luo, Guo-Rong,Xie, Xiao-Xun,Xiao, Shao-Wen Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.8

Melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) family genes have been considered as potentially promising targets for anticancer immunotherapy. MAGED4 was originally identified as a glioma-specific antigen. Current knowledge about MAGED4 expression in glioma is only based on mRNA analysis and MAGED4 protein expression has not been elucidated. In the present study, we investigated this point and found that MAGED4 mRNA and protein were absent or very lowly expressed in various normal tissues and glioma cell line SHG44, but overexpressed in glioma cell lines A172,U251,U87-MG as well as glioma tissues, with significant heterogeneity. Furthermore, MAGED4 protein expression was positively correlated with the glioma type and grade. We also found that the expression of MAGED4 inversely correlated with the overall methylation status of the MAGED4 promoter CpG island. Furthermore, when SHG44 and A172 with higher methylation were treated with the DNA demethylating agent 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-AZA-CdR) reactivation of MAGED4 mRNA was mediated by significant demethylation in SHG44 instead of A172. However, 5-AZA-CdR treatment had no effect on MAGED4 protein in both SHG44 and A172 cells. In conclusion, MAGED4 is frequently and highly expressed in glioma and is partly regulated by DNA methylation. The results suggest that MAGED4 might be a promising target for glioma immunotherapy combined with 5-AZA-CdR to enhance its expression and eliminate intratumor heterogeneity.

Self-Adaptive Power Flow Optimization Method for Multi-Terminal SNOP Considering the Difference of Risk of Node Voltage beyond Limit

        Yiming Xu,Zhiqiang Wang,Zheng Fang,Sichao Xun,Guirong Hu,Yusheng Shen,Hongyi Xiao,Dongning Wu 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.5

Soft Normally Open Point (SNOP) is a power electronic device used widely in power distribution network. It can solve many problems by adjusting reactive power compensation and active power transmission. The uncertainty and fluctuation of distributed generation (DG) may cause many problems to the distribution network. In order to balance the safety and economy in power flow optimization better, a self-adaptive power flow optimization method for active distribution network with multi-terminal SNOP considering difference of the risk of node voltage beyond limit is put forward. It takes both weighted voltage deviation and the network loss into objective function to construct the optimal operation model and mainly has two improvements: one is considering initial voltage deviation and real-time penetration of the DG to establish the self-adaptive weight model of the sum of voltage deviation in the objective function; the other is putting forward the weighting strategy for node voltage deviation which decided by the electrical distance, DG position and correlation between source output and load. Then, taking three improved IEEE33 node feeders as an example to verify the validity of the strategy. The results validate that the self-adaptive strategy can reduce the loss and improve the regulation of voltage better and is useful in distribution network under different penetration

Laminarin improves developmental competence of porcine early stage embryos by inhibiting oxidative stress

        Jiang, Hao,Liang, Shuang,Yao, Xue-Rui,Jin, Yong-Xun,Shen, Xing-Hui,Yuan, Bao,Zhang, Jia-Bao,Kim, Nam-Hyung Elsevier 2018 Theriogenology Vol.115 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Laminarin (LMA), a β-glucan mixture with good biocompatibility, improves the growth performance and immune response when used as food additives and nutraceuticals. The aim of the present research was to explore the effects of LMA on porcine early stage embryo development, as well as the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that the developmental competence of porcine early stage embryos was dramatically improved after LMA supplementation during the in vitro culture period. The presence of 20 μg/mL LMA during the in vitro culture period significantly improved cleavage rate, blastocyst formation rates, hatching rate, and total cell number in the blastocyst compared to that in the control group. Notably, LMA attenuated the intracellular reactive oxygen species generation induced by H2O2. Furthermore, LMA not only increased intracellular glutathione levels, but also ameliorated mitochondrial membrane potential. In addition, the expression of a zygotic genome activation related gene (<I>YAP1</I>), pluripotency-related genes (<I>OCT4</I>, <I>NANOG,</I> and <I>SOX2</I>), and hatching-related genes (<I>COX2</I>, <I>GATA4,</I> and <I>ITGA5</I>) were up-regulated following LMA supplementation during porcine early stage embryo development. These results demonstrate that LMA has beneficial effects on the development of porcine early stage embryos via regulation of oxidative stress. This evidence provides a novel method for embryo development improvement associated with exposure to LMA.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Laminarin has beneficial effects on the development of porcine early stage embryos. </LI> <LI> Laminarin attenuates intracellular reactive oxygen species generation. </LI> <LI> Laminarin increases intracellular glutathione levels and ameliorates ΔΨm. </LI> <LI> Laminarin up-regulates the expression of ZGA/pluripotency/hatching related genes. </LI> </UL> </P>

Spin-resolved photoemission study of epitaxially grown MoSe2 and WSe2 thin films

        Mo, Sung-Kwan,Hwang, Choongyu,Zhang, Yi,Fanciulli, Mauro,Muff, Stefan,Hugo Dil, J,Shen, Zhi-Xun,Hussain, Zahid IOP 2016 Journal of Physics, Condensed Matter Vol.28 No.45

<P>Few-layer thick MoSe2 and WSe2 possess non-trivial spin textures with sizable spin splitting due to the inversion symmetry breaking embedded in the crystal structure and strong spin–orbit coupling. We report a spin-resolved photoemission study of MoSe2 and WSe2 thin film samples epitaxially grown on a bilayer graphene substrate. We only found spin polarization in the single- and trilayer samples—not in the bilayer sample—mostly along the out-of-plane direction of the sample surface. The measured spin polarization is found to be strongly dependent on the light polarization as well as the measurement geometry, which reveals intricate coupling between the spin and orbital degrees of freedom in this class of material.</P>

Charge density wave order in 1D mirror twin boundaries of single-layer MoSe2

        Barja, Sara,Wickenburg, Sebastian,Liu, Zhen-Fei,Zhang, Yi,Ryu, Hyejin,Ugeda, Miguel ,M.,Hussain, Zahid,Shen, Zhi-Xun,Mo, Sung-Kwan,Wong, Ed,Salmeron, Miquel ,B.,Wang, Feng,Crommie, Michael F. NATURE PUBLISHING GROUP 2016 NATURE PHYSICS Vol.12 No.8

We provide direct evidence for the existence of isolated, one-dimensional charge density waves at mirror twin boundaries (MTBs) of single-layer semiconducting MoSe2. Such MTBs have been previously observed by transmission electron microscopy and have been predicted to be metallic in MoSe2 and MoS2. Our low-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy/spectroscopy measurements revealed a substantial bandgap of 100 meV opening at the Fermi energy in the otherwise metallic one-dimensional structures. We found a periodic modulation in the density of states along the MTB, with a wavelength of approximately three lattice constants. In addition to mapping the energy-dependent density of states, we determined the atomic structure and bonding of the MTB through simultaneous high-resolution non-contact atomic force microscopy. Density functional theory calculations based on the observed structure reproduced both the gap opening and the spatially resolved density of states.

      • ARPES study of the epitaxially grown topological crystalline insulator SnTe(111)

        Zhang, Yi,Liu, Zhongkai,Zhou, Bo,Kim, Yeongkwan,Yang, Lexian,Ryu, Hyejin,Hwang, Choongyu,Chen, Yulin,Hussain, Zahid,Shen, Zhi-Xun,Mo, Sung-Kwan Elsevier 2017 Journal of electron spectroscopy and related pheno Vol.219 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>SnTe is a prototypical topological crystalline insulator, in which the gapless surface state is protected by a crystal symmetry. The hallmark of the topological properties in SnTe is the Dirac cones projected to the surfaces with mirror symmetry, stemming from the band inversion near the L points of its bulk Brillouin zone, which can be measured by angle-resolved photoemission. We have obtained the (111) surface of SnTe film by molecular beam epitaxy on BaF2(111) substrate. Photon-energy-dependence of <I>in situ</I> angle-resolved photoemission, covering multiple Brillouin zones in the direction perpendicular to the (111) surface, demonstrate the projected Dirac cones at the Γ ¯ and M ¯ points of the surface Brillouin zone.
