      • Fluorenyl Based Macrocyclic Polyradicaloids

        Lu, Xuefeng,Lee, Sangsu,Hong, Yongseok,Phan, Hoa,Gopalakrishna, Tullimilli Y.,Herng, Tun Seng,Tanaka, Takayuki,Sandoval-Salinas, Marí,a Eugenia,Zeng, Wangdong,Ding, Jun,Casanova, David,Osuka, At American Chemical Society 2017 JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY - Vol.139 No.37

<P>Synthesis of stable open-shell polyradicaloids including control of intramolecular spin-spin interactions is a challenging topic in organic chemistry and materials science. Herein, we report the synthesis and physical characterization of two series of fluorenyl based macrocyclic polyradicaloids. In one series (FR-MCn, n = 4-6), the fluorenyl radicals are directly linked at 3,6-positions; whereas in the other series (MC-FnAn, n = 3-5), an additional ethynylene moiety is inserted between the neighboring fluorenyl units. To access stable macrocyclic polyradicaloids, three synthetic methods were developed. All of these stable macrocycles can be purified by normal silica gel column chromatography under ambient conditions. In all cases, moderate polyradical characters were calculated by restricted active space spin-flip method due to the moderate intramolecular antiferromagnetic spin-spin interactions. The excitation energies from the low-spin ground state to the lowest high-spin excited state were evaluated by superconducting quantum interference device measurements. Their physical properties were also compared with the respective linear fluorenyl radical oligomers (FR-n, n = 3-6). It is found that the geometry, i.e., the distortional angle and spacer (w or w/o ethynylene) between the neighboring fluorenyl units, has significant effect on their polyradical character, excitation energy, one-photon absorption, two-photon absorption and electrochemical properties. In addition, the macrocyclic tetramers FR-MC4 and MC-F4A4 showed global antiaromatic character due to cyclic pi-conjugation with 36 and 44 pi-electrons, respectively.</P>

Effects of Momordica charantia Saponins on In vitro Ruminal Fermentation and Microbial Population

        Kang, Jinhe,Zeng, Bo,Tang, Shaoxun,Wang, Min,Han, Xuefeng,Zhou, Chuanshe,Yan, Qiongxian,He, Zhixiong,Liu, Jinfu,Tan, Zhiliang Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2016 Animal Bioscience Vol.29 No.4

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Momordica charantia saponin (MCS) on ruminal fermentation of maize stover and abundance of selected microbial populations in vitro. Five levels of MCS supplements (0, 0.01, 0.06, 0.30, 0.60 mg/mL) were tested. The pH, $NH_3-N$, and volatile fatty acid were measured at 6, 24, 48 h of in vitro mixed incubation fluids, whilst the selected microbial populations were determined at 6 and 24 h. The high dose of MCS increased the initial fractional rate of degradation at t-value = 0 ($FRD_0$) and the fractional rate of gas production (k), but decreased the theoretical maximum of gas production ($V_F$) and the half-life ($t_{0.5}$) compared with the control. The $NH_3-N$ concentration reached the lowest concentration with 0.01 mg MCS/mL at 6 h. The MSC inclusion increased (p<0.001) the molar proportion of butyrate, isovalerate at 24 h and 48 h, and the molar proportion of acetate at 24 h, but then decreased (p<0.05) them at 48 h. The molar proportion of valerate was increased (p<0.05) at 24 h. The acetate to propionate ratio (A/P; linear, p<0.01) was increased at 24 h, but reached the least value at the level of 0.30 mg/mL MCS. The MCS inclusion decreased (p<0.05) the molar proportion of propionate at 24 h and then increased it at 48 h. The concentration of total volatile fatty acid was decreased (p<0.001) at 24 h, but reached the greatest concentration at the level of 0.01 mg/mL and the least concentration at the level of 0.60 mg/mL. The relative abundance of Ruminococcus albus was increased at 6 h and 24 h, and the relative abundance of Fibrobacter succinogenes was the lowest (p<0.05) at 0.60 mg/mL at 6 h and 24 h. The relative abundance of Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens and fungus reached the greatest value (p<0.05) at low doses of MCS inclusion and the least value (p<0.05) at 0.60 mg/mL at 24 h. The present results demonstrates that a high level of MCS quickly inhibits in vitro fermentation of maize stover, while MCS at low doses has the ability to modulate the ruminal fermentation pattern by regulating the number of functional rumen microbes including cellulolytic bacteria and fungi populations, and may have potential as a feed additive applied in the diets of ruminants.

Systemic Family Therapy of Comorbidity of Anxiety and Depression with Epilepsy in Adolescents

        Jing Li1,Xuefeng Wang,Huaqing Meng,Kebin Zeng,Fengying Quan,Fang Liu 대한신경정신의학회 2016 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.13 No.3

ObjectiveaaThe aim of this study was to find if systemic family therapy (SFT) does work in anxiety and depression with epilepsy in adolescents (ADAE). Methodsaa104 adolescents with epilepsy, aged 13–20 years old, were included from December 2009 to December 2010, the enrolled patients were with anxiety [Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) score ≥14 points] or depression [Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) score ≥20 points]. The patients were randomly divided into the control group (n=52) treated with antiepileptic drugs (AED) and the intervention group (n=52) undergone Systemic Family Therapy (SFT) as well as AED. The AED improvements, anxiety and depression scores, Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Family Assessment Device (FAD) and scale of systemic family dynamics (SSFD) were observed after 3-month treatment. ResultsaaThe frequencies of epileptic seizures in intervention group was decreased much more significantly than the control group (4.22±3.54 times/month vs. 6.20±5.86 times/month, p=0.04); and the scores of anxiety (9.52±6.28 points vs. 13.48±8.47 points, p=0.01) and depression (13.86±9.17 points vs. 18.89±8.73 points, p=0.02) were significantly decreased than the control group; meanwhile, the family dynamics and family functions were significantly improved, and the social support was also increased (p<0.05). ConclusionaaSFT combined with AEDs had better efficacies than AEDs alone, not only the frequency of epileptic seizures was decreased, but also the patients’ anxiety and depression were improved, and the family dynamics, family functions and social support were improved.

Condition monitoring of inverter power devices based on electromagnetic acoustic emissions

        Fei Liu,Chenghao Zeng,Liang Cheng,Yunze He,Yun Bai,Xuefeng Geng,Songyuan Liu,Dantong Ren,Lei Wang 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.12

Unlike conventional voltage and current sensing, this paper studies the use of acoustic emission signals to detect the condition of the power device for a DC–AC inverter. As a relatively new method for monitoring power devices, there are some unknown phenomena in acoustic emissions (also called mechanical stress wave). Therefore, the authors present an experimental setup that is used to analyze acoustic emission signals. Based on experimental results, some interesting points have been found: (1) The generation of a mechanical stress wave is verified for the first time. (2) The time-domain peak value, energy, and rise time of the mechanical stress wave at the turn-on time of a power device are barely affected by the load. Meanwhile, these values decrease with an increase of the load at the turn-off time. (3) The frequency-domain peak value of the mechanical stress wave tends to decrease with an increase of the load, and the peak frequency is barely affected by the load. These mechanical stress analysis results can be utilized for condition monitoring in many applications.

Optimization of Processing Conditions of Chinese Smoke-cured Bacon (Larou) with a New Natural Coating Solution during Storage Period

        Na Liu,Qiujin Zhu,Xuefeng Zeng,Bowen Yang,Meilian Liang,Li Deng,Laping He,Cai Liang,Ruping Zhang,Juan Zhou 한국축산식품학회 2018 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.38 No.3

The study aims to determine the optimum sterilization rate and water activity of Chinese traditional smoke-cured bacon product (Larou) in the preservation with natural coating solution. With the response surface methodology (RSM), we analyzed 3 factors of processing conditions (the concentration of lysozyme, concentration of sodium alginate, and concentration of chitosan) and 2 response factors (sterilization rate and water activity). Sterilization rate and water activity of Larou were largely affected by the concentration of lysozyme, concentration of sodium alginate, and concentration of chitosan. The final optimum concentrations of lysozyme, sodium alginate, and chitosan were 0.09, 1.40, and 1.60% and realized the high sterilization rate. Water activity of sliced Larou was significantly correlated with the sterilization rate. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance analysis verified the optimum processing conditions. The coating resulted in 99.69% rate of reducing bacteria after 30-day storage. The data of the total number of colony, peroxidation value, moisture content, pH, and sensory evaluation provided the theoretical basis for extending the shelf life of Chinese traditional smoke-cured bacon product (Larou) with natural coating solution.

Circular RNA hsa_circ_0005556 Accelerates Gastric Cancer Progression by Sponging miR-4270 to Increase MMP19 Expression

        Duo Shen,Hongyu Zhao,Peng Zeng,Jinyun Song,Yiqiong Yang,Xuefeng Gu,Qinghua Ji,Wei Zhao 대한위암학회 2020 Journal of gastric cancer Vol.20 No.3

Purpose: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a new class of RNA molecules whose function is largely unknown. There is a growing evidence that circRNAs play an important regulatory role in the progression of a variety of human cancers. However, the exact roles and the mechanisms of circRNAs in gastric cancer are not clear. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the mechanism of hsa_circ_0005556. Materials and Methods: Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of hsa_circ_0005556, miR-4270, and matrix metalloproteinase-19 (MMP19) in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines. The expression of hsa_circ_0005556 in gastric cancer cells was silenced by lentivirus, and cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and tumorigenesis in nude mice were assessed to evaluate the function of hsa_circ_0005556 in gastric cancer. Results: The expression of hsa_circ_0005556 in gastric cancer tissues and gastric cancer cell lines was higher compared to normal controls. In vitro, the downregulation of hsa_circ_0005556 significantly inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells. In vivo, the downregulation of hsa_circ_0005556 suppressed tumor growth in nude mice. Conclusions: Our study shows that the hsa_circ_0005556/miR-4270/MMP19 axis is involved in proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells through the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanism.
