Influence of oxygen equivalent on molten salt oxidation efficiency of mixed resin in Li2CO3-Na2CO3-K2CO3 melt

        Xin Liu,Zi-Yu Liu,Yang-Hai Zheng,Yong-De Yan,Wen-Da Xu,Yun Xue,Yue-Lin Wang,Fu-Qiu Ma,Kai Zhu,Yu-Sheng Yang 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

The disposal of spent radioactive ion exchange resin generated during the operation of nuclear facilitieshas always been a conundrum. The molten salt oxidation (MSO) for the treatment of mixed resin (MR)shows obvious superiority. In this work, ternary carbonate (Li2CO3-Na2CO3-K2CO3) and MR was usedas the molten salt system and the oxidation target, respectively. The oxidation behavior of MR was analyzedby varying the temperature and oxygen equivalent during the MSO process. By studying the effectof different oxygen equivalents on the oxidation efficiency, the oxygen equivalent of 125% could make theoxidation efficiency of MR reach 99.99% at 800 C. The composition of C, N and S containing exhaust gasproduced through MSO process of MR with temperature were almost consistent with the simulationresults. The exhaust gas was successfully adsorbed by molten carbonate to produce nitrate and sulfurcompounds. The carbonate has good absorption to harmful gases such as SO2, CO, NO, etc. The contentof SO2 from the highest 0.32% to 0, and 71.23% of sulfur in MR was trapped by molten carbonate asthe form of sulfate. This work has important implications for reducing the potential harm of radioactivewaste resin to the environment.

Simultaneous Determination of Hydroquinone and Catechol by N-doped Porous Biochar-modified Electrode

        Yue-Xin Liu,Shi-Man Du,Jie Cao,Wen-sheng Huang,Xiao-Ru Zhang,Bao-Ping Qi,Sheng-Hui Zhang 대한화학회 2020 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.41 No.3

N-doped porous biochar (NPB) with large conjugated systems could not only be used as enrichment carriers but also be in favor of electron transport in the electrochemical detection. The NPB-modified electrode was fabricated for the simultaneous detection of catechol (CA) and hydroquinone (HQ) to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio and further improve the sensitivity. A detection limit as low as 37 and 47?nM was achieved for CA and HQ, respectively. The proposed strategy with the merits of high sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility exhibited a great potential for the detection.

Clinical Prognostic Factors in 86 Chinese Patients with Primary Myelodysplastic Syndromes and Trisomy 8: A Single Institution Experience

        Xin-Yue Liu,Qing-Fang Yue,Lei Chen,Xiao-Mei She,Bin Hu,Yu Hu,Ping Zou 연세대학교의과대학 2016 Yonsei medical journal Vol.57 No.2

Purpose: The objective was to determine the characteristics and prognostic factors of 86 Chinese patients with trisomy 8 aberrationsand compare the prognostic value of International Prognostic System (IPSS) and Revised IPSS (IPSS-R) in this cohort. Materials and Methods: A total of 86 cases diagnosed with primary myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) with isolated tr8 or with tr8 and other additional cytogenetic aberrations diagnosed and treated at the Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology between July 2002 and March 2013 were reviewed. Results: The median survival of the entire group was 23.0 months, and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) developed in 43% (37/86) patients within the follow up time. The univariate analysis revealed that overall survival (OS) was correlated with age, thrombocytopenia, absolute neutrophil count, marrow blasts, cytogenetic status and red blood cell transfusion at diagnosis, and the multivariateanalysis revealed that age, marrow blasts, cytogenetic status and transfusion dependence were independent parameters for the OS. The cytogenetic complexity and marrow blasts had the strongest impact on the AML transformation by multivariate analysis. Comparing the two prognostic systems, both two systems could successfully discriminate risk groups for survival. IPSS-R was more refined than IPSS for predicting OS, but had no advantage in predicting the risk of AML development. Conclusion: This study confirmed the influence of clinical factors on the prognosis of 86 Chinese MDS patients with trisomy 8. In addition, IPSS-R can further refine prognostic discrimination in the IPSS risk categories.

Mechanical evaluation of polymer microneedles for transdermal drug delivery: In vitro and in vivo

Rui Xuan Liu,Yu Ting He,Ling Liang,Liu Fu Hu,Yue Liu,Rui-xing Yu,Bo Zhi Chen,Yong Cui,Xin Dong Guo 한국공업화학회 2022 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.114 No.-

In this study, we reported two types of PMNs based on polylactic acid (PLA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA),respectively. Parafilm M film, porcine skin, and rats’ models were operated to evaluate the mechanicalproperties in vitro and in vivo to find optimal parameters for efficient insertion. Insertion depth was measuredusing Digital Force Gauge by changing insertion force and speed, respectively. Results showed thatincreasing the insertion force and speed used for PMNs application led to a significant increase in thedepth of insertion. A force of 18 N under a speed of 330 mm/min was the optimal condition for insertingPMNs array into ParafilmM film and porcine skin. In addition, PLA-MNs exhibited higher robustness andenhanced homogeneity in insertion depth compared with PVA-MNs, but PVA-MNs were able to reachmuch deeper insertion depth. Moreover, Sprague Dawley (SD) rat experiments confirmed the effectivenessof optimal insertion parameters for transdermal drug delivery. This study illustrated not only thedevelopment of novel PMNs but also the mechanical evaluation for the design of PMNs.

Leaky-Wave Antennas Based on Noncutoff Substrate Integrated Waveguide Supporting Beam Scanning From Backward to Forward

        Yue-Long Lyu,Xiao-Xin Liu,Peng-Yuan Wang,Erni, Daniel,Qun Wu,Cong Wang,Nam-Young Kim,Fan-Yi Meng Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2016 IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation Vol.64 No.6

<P>In this paper, we propose an approach to realize substrate integrated waveguide (SIW)-based leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) supporting continuous beam scanning from backward to forward above the cutoff frequency. First, through phase delay analysis, it was found that SIWs with straight transverse slots support backward and forward radiation of the -1-order mode with an open-stopband (OSB) in between. Subsequently, by introducing additional longitudinal slots as parallel components, the OSB can be suppressed, leading to continuous beam scanning at least from -40 degrees through broadside to 35 degrees. The proposed method only requires a planar structure and obtains less dispersive beam scanning compared with a composite right/left-handed (CRLH) LWA. Both simulations and measurements verify the intended beam scanning operation while verifying the underlying theory.</P>

High-Mobility-Group family genes from Lampetra japonica reveal their early origin and molecular evolution in the vertebrate lineage

        Yue Pang,Rong Xiao,Xin Liu,Qingwei Li 한국유전학회 2012 Genes & Genomics Vol.34 No.6

High-mobility group family (HMG) genes are ubiquitous in vertebrates, including mammals, birds, amphibians and fishes. To elucidate the molecular phylogeny of the HMG genes in the primitive vertebrate, we have cloned three homologues of HMG-box genes, called Lj-HMGB1, Lj-HMGB2 and Lj-HMGBX, from a cDNA library generated from lymphocyte-like cells of the Japanese lamprey (Lampetra japonica),an Agnathan that occupies a critical phylogenetic position between invertebrates and vertebrates. The open reading frames of Lj-HMGB1, Lj-HMGB2 and Lj-HMGBX contained 627 bp,585 bp and 678 bp, respectively. The analysis of the deduced amino acid sequences indicated that these three putative Lj-HMGB proteins contain four domains: HMG-box A,HMG-box B, an acidic carboxyl-terminal tail and a linker. A phylogenetic analysis revealed that the Lj-HMGB proteins fall outside the vertebrate clade; Lj-HMGBX is descended from a gene ancestral to the mammalian HMGB1/2/3. This discovery implies that there was a gene duplication event in the HMGB1/2/3 gene family that occurred after the divergence of the vertebrates (Cyclostomata) from the Cephalochordata and Urochordata at least 450 million years ago (MYA). The Lj-HMGB1, Lj-HMGB2 and Lj-HMGBX genes were detected in most tissues of the lamprey by RT-PCR. Our findings provide insight into the phylogeny of the HMGB genes in vertebrates.

      • Fenofibrate Increases Radiosensitivity in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma via Inducing G2/M Arrest and Apoptosis

        Liu, Jia,Ge, Yang-Yang,Zhu, Hong-Cheng,Yang, Xi,Cai, Jing,Zhang, Chi,Lu, Jing,Zhan, Liang-Liang,Qin, Qin,Yang, Yan,Yang, Yue-Hua,Zhang, Hao,Chen, Xiao-Chen,Liu, Zhe-Ming,Ma, Jian-Xin,Cheng, Hong-Yan,S Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.16

Radiation therapy is an important treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, how to promote radiation sensitivity in HNSCC remains a challenge. This study aimed to investigate the radiosensitizing effects of fenofibrate on HNSCC and explore the underlying mechanisms. HNSCC cell lines CNE-2 and KB were subjected to ionizing radiation (IR), in the presence or absence of fenofibrate treatment. Cell growth and survival, apoptosis and cell cycle were evaluated. In addition, CNE-2 cells were xenografted into nude mice and subjected to IR and/or fenofibrate treatment. The expression of cyclinB and CDK1 was detected by Western blotting. Our results showed that fenofibrate efficiently radiosensitized HNSCC cells and xenografts in mice, and induced apoptosis and G2/M arrest via reducing the activity of the CDK1/cyclinB1 kinase complex. These data suggest that fenofibrate could be a promising radiosensitizer for HNSCC radiotherapy.

Anatomical Study of the Accessory Tendon of the Extensor Hallucis Longus Muscle and Its Clinical Application

        Yue Li,Jing-Ying Zhang,Xin-Yue Zhao,Li-Ya Pan,De-Hao Jin,He-Xing Xu,Hu-Zhe Cui,Yan-Qun Liu,Xiang-Zheng Qin,Qingyuan Li 대한정형외과학회 2021 Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery Vol.13 No.2

Background: The accessory tendon of the extensor hallucis longus (ATEHL) muscle is a common abnormal structure, and its clinical significance remains debatable. In this study, we provide the incidence of the ATEHL and characterize its morphological types in Asian cadavers and investigate its clinical applications. Methods: The tendons from 50 adult cadaveric feet, fixed in 10% formalin, were analyzed. We measured the length and width of both the ATEHL and the extensor hallucis brevis (EHB). Results: All dissected specimens had an ATEHL. The first metatarsophalangeal joint was surrounded by an accessory tendon that inserted onto the joint capsule and the dorsal base of the proximal phalanx. We classified the ATEHL into 3 types based on their directions. Differences in ATEHL type based on sex were not statistically significant. Conclusions: We found an ATEHL in all cadaveric specimens in this study. We surmise that the ATEHL acts as an antagonist with the EHB when the toe is extending, which might help prevent the occurrence of hallux valgus deformity.

Multicomponent assessment and ginsenoside conversions of Panax quinquefolium L. roots before and after steaming by HPLC-MSn

        Xin Huang,Yan Liu,Yong Zhang,Shuai-Ping Li,Hao Yue,Chang-Bao Chen,Shu-Ying Liu 고려인삼학회 2019 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.43 No.1

Background: The structural conversions in ginsenosides induced by steaming or heating or acidic condition could improve red ginseng bioactivities significantly. In this paper, the chemical transformations of red American ginseng from fresh Panax quinquefolium L. under steaming were investigated, and the possible mechanisms were discussed. Methods: A method with reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with linear ion trap mass spectrometry (HPLC-MSn)-equipped electrospray ionization ion source was developed for structural analysis and quantitation of ginsenosides in dried and red American ginseng. Results: In total, 59 ginsenosides of protopanaxadiol, protopanaxatriol, oleanane, and ocotillol types were identified in American ginseng before and after steaming process by matching the molecular weight and/or comparing MSn fragmentation with that of standards and/or known published compounds, and some of them were determined to be disappeared or newly generated under different steaming time and temperature. The specific fragments of each aglycone-type ginsenosides were determined as well as aglycone hydrated and dehydrated ones. The mechanisms were deduced as hydrolysis, hydration, dehydration, and isomerization of neutral and acidic ginsenosides. Furthermore, the relative peak areas of detected compounds were calculated based on peak areas ratio. Conclusion: The multicomponent assessment of American ginseng was conducted by HPLC-MSn. The result is expected to provide possibility for holistic evaluation of the processing procedures of red American ginseng and a scientific basis for the usage of American ginseng in prescription.
