A novel non-phosgene process for the synthesis of methyl N-phenyl carbamate (MPC) by a reaction of phenylurea with methanol was studied. The reaction between phenylurea and methanol was found to be a spontaneous reaction that took place in the absence of catalyst and gave MPC as the main product. Addition of a catalyst markedly influenced the reaction behavior. A basic catalyst greatly enhanced the yield of MPC, whereas an acidic catalyst promoted the formation of aniline and methyl carbamate. Moderate strength of basicity showed the best catalytic performance in the cases studied. The mechanism of reaction and catalyst functioning was discussed.

This study investigated the interaction amongvalsartan (VAL), TGF-b pathways, and long non-codingRNA (lncRNA) cardiac hypertrophy-related factor (CHRF)in doxorubicin (DOX)-induced heart failure (HF), andexplored their roles in DOX-induced HF progression. HFmice models in vivo were constructed by DOX induction. The expression of CHRF and TGF-b1 in hearts wasdetected, along with cardiac function, caspase-3 activity, and cell apoptosis. Primary myocardial cells were pretreatedwith VAL, followed by DOX induction in vitro forfunctional studies, including the detection of cell apoptosiswith terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick-endlabeling and the expression of proteins associated withTGF-b1 pathways. HF models were established in vivo andin vitro. Expression of CHRF and TGF-b1 was up-regulated,and cell apoptosis and caspase-3 activity wereincreased in the hearts and cells of the HF models. VALsupplementation alleviated the cardiac dysfunction andinjury in the HF process. Moreover, overexpressed CHRFup-regulated TGF-b1, promoted myocardial cell apoptosis, and reversed VAL’s cardiac protective effect, while interferenceof CHRF (si-CHRF) did the opposite. Down-regulationof CHRF reversed the increased expression of TGFb1and the downstream proteins induced by pcDNA-TGFb1in HL-1 cells, while overexpression of CHRF reversedthe VAL’s cardiac protective effect in vivo. In conclusion,VAL regulates TGF-b pathways through lncRNA CHRF toimprove DOX-induced HF.

MgAl hydrotalcite synthesized via co-precipitation method from magnesium and aluminum nitrateswas calcined to produce Mg4AlO5.5 mixed oxides. The oxides were modified by introducing LiNO3 andapplied to the synthesis of glycerol carbonate from glycerol and dimethyl carbonate. The research resultsindicated that LiNO3/Mg4AlO5.5 was an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of glycerol carbonate. The fullconversion of glycerol and 96.28% yield of glycerol carbonate were obtained after reacting at 80 8C for1.5 h in the presence of LiNO3/Mg4AlO5.5. The structure and properties of the catalysts were studied bymeans of XRD, TGA, BET, CO2-TPD and Hammett indicator method. It was found that the basic strengthand the basicity of the catalysts were enhanced after addition of LiNO3. Over Mg4AlO5.5 oxides, LiNO3 waseasily converted to LiAlO2 which constituted new strong basic sites. Too high basic strength and basicityof catalysts may improve the conversion of glycerol at the cost of GC selectivity reduction.

Two facultatively anaerobic, short rod-shaped, non-motile, Gram-stain-positive, unknown bacterial strains (JY-X040T and JY-X174) were isolated from fluvial sediments of Tongtian River in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai province, China. Cells formed translucent, gray, round and convex colonies, with a diameter of less than 0.5 mm after 5 days of incubation at 30°C on brain heart infusion-5% sheep blood agar. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between strain JY-X040T and Fudania jinshanensis 313T is 93.87%. In the four phylogenetic trees constructed based on the 16S rRNA gene and 423 core genes, the two isolates form an independent branch, phylogenetically closest to F. jinshanensis 313T, but could not be classified as a member of the genus Fudania or any other genus of the family Arcanobacteriaceae. The DNA G + C content of strain JY-X040T was 57.8%. Calculation results of average nucleotide identity, digital DNADNA hybridization value and amino acid identity between strain JY-X040T and F. jinshanensis 313T are 69.9%, 22.9%, and 64.1%. The major cellular fatty acids were C16:0 (23%) and C18:1ω9c (22%). The cell-wall peptidoglycan type was A5α (L-Lys-L-Ala-L-Lys-D-Glu). The polar lipids comprised diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylinositol mannoside and four unidentified components. The whole-cell sugars contained rhamnose and ribose. MK-10(H4) was the sole respiratory quinone. The minimum inhibitory concentration of streptomycin was 32 μg/ml. All physiological, biochemical, chemotaxonomic and genomic characteristics support that strains JY-X040T and JY-X174 represent members of a novel species in a new genus, Changpingibacter yushuensis gen. nov., sp. nov. The type strain is JY-X040T (GDMCC 1.1996T = KCTC 49514T).
