CYP19 gene variant confers susceptibility to endometriosis-associated infertility in Chinese women

        Ledan Wang,Xiaosheng Lu,Danhan Wang,,Wenju Li,Xiaowen Xu,Qiusui Huang,Xueying Han,Jieqiang Lv,Wanglei Qu 생화학분자생물학회 2014 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.46 No.-

An aromatase encoded by the CYP19 gene catalyzes the final step in the biosynthesis of estrogens, which is related to endometriosis development. To assess the association of CYP19 gene polymorphisms with the risks of endometriosis, chocolate cysts and endometriosis-related infertility, a case–control study was conducted in Chinese Han women by recruiting 225 healthy control females, 146 patients with endometriosis, 94 endometriosis women with chocolate cyst and 65 women with infertility resulting from endometriosis, as diagnosed by both pathological and laparoscopic findings. Individual genotypes atrs2236722:T4C, rs700518:A4G, rs10046:T4C and [TTTA]n polymorphisms were identified. Allelic and genotypic frequencies were compared between the control group and case groups by chi-square analysis. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were determined by logistic regression analysis to predict the association of CYP19 gene polymorphisms with the risk of endometriosis, the related chocolate cysts and infertility. The genotype distributions of the tested CYP19 gene polymorphisms were not significantly different between the healthy control group and the endometriosis/endometriosis with the chocolate cyst group. However, the CYP19 rs700518AA genotype was significantly associated with an increased risk of endometriosis-related infertility (55.4% in the infertility group vs 25.3% in the control group, Po0.001;OR (95% CI): 3.66 (2.06–6.50)) under the recessive form of the A allele. Therefore, we concluded that in Chinese Han females CYP19 gene polymorphisms are not associated with susceptibility to endometriosis or chocolate cysts, whereas CYP19 rs700518AA genotype confers genetic susceptibility to endometriosis-related infertility.

Takagi-Sugeno Model-Based Non-Fragile Guaranteed Cost Control for Uncertain Discrete-Time Systems with State Delay

Xiaosheng Fang,Jingcheng Wang,Bin Zhang 한국지능시스템학회 2008 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.8 No.2

A non-fragile guaranteed cost control (GCC) problem is presented for a class of discrete time-delay nonlinear systems described by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The systems are assumed to have norm-bounded time-varying uncertainties in the matrices of state, delayed state and control gains. Sufficient conditions are first obtained which guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the closed-loop cost function value is not more than a specified upper bound. Then the design method of the non-fragile guaranteed cost controller is formulated in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Experimental investigation of predicting rockburst using Bayesian model

        Wang, Chunlai,Chuai, Xiaosheng,Shi, Feng,Gao, Ansen,Bao, Tiancai Techno-Press 2018 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.15 No.6

Rockbursts, catastrophic events involving the violent release of elastic energy stored in rock features, remain a worldwide challenge for geoengineering. Especially at deep-mining sites, rockbursts can occur in hard, high-stress, brittle rock zones, and the associated risk depends on such factors as mining activity and the stress on surrounding rocks. Rockbursts are often sudden and destructive, but there is still no unified standard for predicting them. Based on previous studies, a new Bayesian multi-index model was introduced to predict and evaluate rockbursts. In this method, the rock strength index, energy release index, and surrounding rock stress are the basic factors. Values from 18 rock samples were obtained, and the potential rockburst risks were evaluated. The rockburst tendencies of the samples were modelled using three existing methods. The results were compared with those obtained by the new Bayesian model, which was observed to predict rockbursts more effectively than the current methods.

      • A Transportation Problem with Uncertain Costs and Random Supplies

        Haiying GUO,Xiaosheng WANG,Shaoling ZHOU 국제이네비해양경제학회 2015 International Journal of e-Navigation and Maritime Vol.2 No.1

Transportation problem is an optimization problem. In general, it was studied under random or uncertain condition. Considering the recent complexity, it is not enough to make should be a perfect transportation plan only based on. Usually, there is not only uncertainty but also randomness in many systems. In this paper, the aim is to investigate a transportation problem under uncertain and random environment. As a result, a conceptual uncertain random model is proposed for the problem, where the supplies are considered as random variables, and the costs and the demands are uncertain variables. By minimizing the expected value of uncertain objective function and taking confidence levels on constraints, transforming the model into a crisp mathematical form is the main conclusion. By minimizing the expected value of uncertain objective function and taking confidence levels on constraints, the above model can be turned to a mathematical form. Then transforming the model into a typical mathematical programming model is the main conclusion by using uncertainty theory and probability theory. At the end, a numerical example is given to show the feasibility of the model.

Laparoscopic surgery contributes to a decrease in short-term complications in surgical ulcerative colitis patients during 2008–2017: a multicenter retrospective study in China

        Zerong Cai,Xiaosheng He,Jianfeng Gong,Peng Du,Wenjian Meng,Wei Zhou,Jinbo Jiang,Bin Wu,Weitang Yuan,Qi Xue,Lianwen Yuan,Jinhai Wang,Jiandong Tai,Jie Liang,Weiming Zhu,Ping Lan,Xiaojian Wu 대한장연구학회 2023 Intestinal Research Vol.21 No.2

Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to analyze the chronological changes in postoperative complications in surgical ulcerative colitis patients over the past decade in China and to investigate the potential parameters that contributed to the changes. Methods: Ulcerative colitis patients who underwent surgery during 2008–2017 were retrospectively enrolled from 13 hospitals in China. Postoperative complications were compared among different operation years. Risk factors for complications were identified by logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 446 surgical ulcerative colitis patients were analyzed. Fewer short-term complications (24.8% vs. 41.0%, P=0.001) and more laparoscopic surgeries (66.4% vs. 25.0%, P<0.001) were found among patients who received surgery during 2014–2017 than 2008–2013. Logistic regression suggested that independent protective factors against short-term complications were a higher preoperative body mass index (odds ratio [OR], 0.870; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.785–0.964; P=0.008), laparoscopic surgery (OR, 0.391; 95% CI, 0.217–0.705; P=0.002) and elective surgery (OR, 0.213; 95% CI, 0.067–0.675; P=0.009). The chronological decrease in short-term complications was associated with an increase in laparoscopic surgery. Conclusions: Our data revealed a downward trend of short-term postoperative complications among surgical ulcerative colitis patients in China during the past decade, which may be due to the promotion of minimally invasive techniques among Chinese surgeons.

        ω-MODULES OVER COMMUTATIVE RINGS

        Yin, Huayu,Wang, Fanggui,Zhu, Xiaosheng,Chen, Youhua Korean Mathematical Society 2011 대한수학회지 Vol.48 No.1

Let R be a commutative ring and let M be a GV -torsionfree R-module. Then M is said to be a $\omega$-module if $Ext_R^1$(R/J, M) = 0 for any J $\in$ GV (R), and the w-envelope of M is defined by $M_{\omega}$ = {x $\in$ E(M) | Jx $\subseteq$ M for some J $\in$ GV (R)}. In this paper, $\omega$-modules over commutative rings are considered, and the theory of $\omega$-operations is developed for arbitrary commutative rings. As applications, we give some characterizations of $\omega$-Noetherian rings and Krull rings.

Establishment of the Lunar Phase Morphological Classification for Cervical Spinal Canal

        Cui Zhongyi,Wang Hongwei,Sun Yuan,Huang Weibo,Zou Fei,Ma Xiaosheng,Lyu Feizhou,Jiang Jianyuan,Wang Hongli 대한척추외과학회 2024 Asian Spine Journal Vol.18 No.1

Study Design: Retrospective clinical trial.Purpose: To establish a morphological classification of the cervical spinal canal using its parameters.Overview of Literature: Cervical spine computed tomography (CT) data of 200 healthy volunteers in 2 years were analyzed. The morphology of the spinal cord was also analyzed. Methods: The median sagittal diameter and transverse diameter of the spinal canal from C2 to C7 were measured on CT images. The ratio of the median sagittal diameter to the transverse diameter was calculated. Accordingly, the spinal canal shape of each segment was classified into four, and the specific criteria of lunar phase classification were determined through linear discriminant analysis based on the ratio of the median sagittal diameter to the transverse diameter. The inter-rater reliability of the classification was explored using Kappa coefficients. Finally, the morphology of the different segments of the cervical spinal canal in healthy volunteers was revised and compared. Results: According to the ratio of the median sagittal diameter and the transverse diameter of the cervical spinal canal, the lunar phase classification of the cervical bony spinal canal was determined as follows: full-moon >0.65, 0.55< convex-moon ≤0.65, 0.46≤ quarter-moon ≤0.55, and residual-moon <0.46. The Kappa values of C2–C7 were 0.851, 0.958, 0.823, 0.927, 0.793, and 0.946, and the Kappa value of all C2–C7 segments was 0.854 that mainly presented two forms of full-moon (76.5%) and convex-moon (23.0%). A quarter-moon spinal canal was mainly distributed in C3, C4, C5, and C6; a residual-moon spinal canal was mainly distributed in C4 and C5; and the morphological distribution of C4 and C5 were similar (<i>p</i>>0.05). The frequency of the spinal canal of the residual-moon type was the highest, and the full-moon (6.5%) and residual-moon (7.5%) types of C7 were rare. Conclusions: The morphological classification of the cervical spinal canal was established to present anatomical variations. The classification showed good inter-rater reliability.

A Study on Factors Influencing the Accuracy Evaluation of Dimensional X-Ray Computed Tomography with Multi-sphere Standards

        Shixiang Su,Ning Dai,Xiaosheng Cheng,Xin Zhou,Lei Wang,Herminso Villarraga-Gómez 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.21 No.4

Industrial X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) is one of the available choices for measuring parts’ internal and externalgeometries. However, there are still several challenges that limit the current XCT technologies from being widely spread asa dimensional metrology tool. In the study presented in this paper, multi-sphere standards were developed and used for theevaluation of the accuracy of dimensional measurements performed with an open-ended 450 kV XCT system of 0.4 mmfocal spot. Normally, the multi-sphere standard refers to a combination of several ball rods of various heights, where a ‘ballrod’ is understood as a ruby sphere mounted on a rod that is usually made of carbon fi ber or ceramic. The main purpose wasto determine if the rod’s material, the spatial distribution of the ruby spheres, and/or the selection of test lengths (i.e., thecenter-to-center distance between two ruby spheres) infl uence the determination of the maximum permissible sphere distanceerror ( MPE SD ) attributable to XCT data. The experimental data suggested ceramic is more suitable as a rod material thancarbon fi ber, and also, the spatial distribution of the ruby spheres has no obvious infl uence on the accuracy evaluation ofdimensional measurements. However, the selection of test lengths will signifi cantly aff ect the accuracy evaluation results. In particular, the results of dimensional measurements showed that the evaluation of the MPE SD with multi-sphere standardsfor the XCT system used in this study can be expressed as MPE SD = ± (159 + L/800) μm.
