        Luxury Brand Purchase Intention in Chinese Millennials: The Moderating Effect of Consumer Ethnocentrism

        In China, the generation born in the 80’s and 90’s called Mimmenniams, became the main consumer and the Millennials have gradually become a major force in the huge Chinese luxury brand market. This generation is characterized by a mix of “self-directed” and “other-directed” personality so, this complex characteristic is revealed in the consumption behavior especially in the purchase behavior of luxury. Therefore, it is increasingly important to understand the psychology and consumer behavior of the millennial generation. The present study empirically tested causal relationships between the social identity function of attitudes, consumer ethnocentrism (CET) and global luxury brand purchase intention in the younger generation. The results showed that both attitudes serving a social-adjustive function and a value-expressive function have a significant positive impact on purchase intention of luxury. The results of the moderation effect of CET have multiple meanings. CET has not only a low negative impact on purchase intention of luxury directly, also weakens the positive influence of the social-adjustive function on purchase intention. However CET does not moderate the relationship between the value-expressive function and purchase intention. These results will help global luxury brand companies develop marketing strategies for Chinese millennial. Through this study, we suggest it’s very important to consider the complex or dual aspects of the generation for understanding the consumption behavior of Chinese Millennial.

      • Modeling and Analysis for Output Impedance of Buck Converters

        In distributed power systems, the impedance model of power modules is very important because of the close relationship between impedance and stability. For buck converters with a sinusoidal current perturbation at the output terminal, the output voltage will contain multiple components in frequency domain. The output impedance characteristics of power converters are actually single input multiple output (SIMO). However, traditional models and modeling methods only take the perturbation frequency into account and ignore the other components. The obtained impedance models, with single input single output (SISO) forms, are actually simplifications of the real impedance. In this paper, the output impedance of buck converters with SIMO characteristics is modeled by a matrix based method. Detailed analysis shows that it is reasonable to only consider the perturbation frequency itself in low frequency regions, but in high frequency regions, especially those around the switching frequency and its multiples, the corresponding low frequency component is also very significant and should be taken into account. Simulation and experimental results validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed modeling method and conclusions.

        The electrocatalysis of Mn-Co3O4/CeO2@C particles with different Ce content modified Ti/PbO2 anode and its application for copper electrodeposition

        The oxygen evolution kinetics of industrial copper electrodeposition is slow, resulting in low electrocatalytic activity and high energy consumption. In this work, a quaternary composite of carbon coated active particles containing Mn, Co and Ce were prepared (Mn-Co3O4/CeO2@C), and Ti/Sb-SnO2/PbO2 electrode doped with these active particles was prepared by co-electrodeposition. The microstructure and chemical composition of the electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Tafel polarization curve (Tafel) were used to study the electrochemical properties of anode materials. The results showed that the doping of Mn-Co3O4/CeO2@C active particles promoted the crystal transition of PbO2, decreased the average grain size, and the doping of Ce increases the average valence state of Co. The modified titanium electrode showed excellent catalytic activity of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) characteristics. The overpotential of the doped Ti/Sb-SnO2/PbO2 anode was only 453 mV when the current density was 20 mA cm−2 in 0.5 M H2SO4 solution, which is 508 mV lower than that of the undoped Ti/Sb-SnO2/PbO2 anode. In simulated copper electro-deposition experiments, the cell voltage was reduced by about 400 mV, compared to the undoped Ti/Sb-SnO2/PbO2 electrode.

        Genome‑wide analysis of LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES DOMAIN‑in Physcomitrella patens and stress responses

        Background LBDs, as the plant-specific gene family, play essential roles in lateral organ development, plant regeneration, as well as abiotic stress and pathogen response. However, the number and characteristic of LBD genes in Pyscomitrella patens were still obscure. Objective This study was performed to identify the LBD family gene in moss and to determine the expression profiles of LBDs under the abiotic and pathogen stress. Methods Complete genome sequences and transcriptomes of P. patens were downloaded from the Ensembl plant database. The hidden Markov model-based profile of the conserved LOB domain was submitted as a query to identify all potential LOB domain sequences with HMMER software. Expression profiles of PpLBDs were obtained based on the GEO public database and qRT-PCR analysis. Results In this study, a total of 31 LBDs were identified in the P. patens genome, divided into two classes based on the presence of the leucine zipper-like coiled-coil motif. A phylogenetic relationship was obtained between 31 proteins from P. patens and 43 proteins from the Arabidopsis thaliana genome, providing insights into their conserved and potential functions. Furthermore, the exon–intron organization of each PpLBD were analyzed. All PpLBD contain the conserved DNA binding motif (CX2CX6CX3C zinc finger-like motif), and were predicted to be located in cell nuclear. The 31 PpLBD genes were unevenly assigned to 18 out of 27 chromosomes based on the physical positions. Among these genes, PpLBD27 was not only remarkably highest expressed in desiccation, but also a susceptible gene to pathogens through jasmonic acid-mediated signaling pathway. Most of PpLBDs were up-regulated with the treatment of mannitol. These results showed they were differentially induced and their potential functions in the environmental stimulus of the early terrestrial colonizers. Conclusion Despite significant differences in the life cycle in P. patens and flowering plants, their functions involved in abiotic and biotic stress-regulated by LBDs have been identified and appear to be conserved in the two lineages. These results provided a comprehensive analysis of PpLBDs and paved insights into studies aimed at a better understanding of PpLBDs.

        Combined adsorption and reduction of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution on polyaniline/multiwalled carbon nanotubes composite

        Polyaniline/multiwalled carbon nanotube (PANI-MWCNT) was prepared by bounding polyaniline on the surface of oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotube. The structure and surface properties of synthesized composites were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and its adsorption capability for aqueous Cr(VI) was also studied. Characterized results showed that polyaniline was successfully anchored on the surface of MWCNT. From adsorption experiments the maximum adsorption amount of Cr(VI) onto PANI-MWCNTs was 28.25, 31.75 and 36.76 mg·g−1 at 15, 25 and 35 oC. Thermodynamic parameters showed that the Cr(VI) adsorption process was endothermic, spontaneous and feasible. Cr(VI) adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics. Cr(VI) adsorption on the adsorbent decreases with increasing solution pH. The presence of anions in solution almost has no effect on Cr(VI) adsorption, indicating good selectivity. XPS analysis confirms that electrostatic interaction, reduction and chelation contribute to enhanced Cr(VI) removal. Cr(VI) loaded absorbent can be readily desorbed in 0.1mol·L−1 of NaOH solution, and the desorption rate was 84.12%.

        Phloretin targets SIRT1 to alleviate oxidative stress, apoptosis, and inflammation in deep venous thrombosis

        Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a type of venous thromboembolism posing a serious threat to health on a global scale. Phloretin is a potential natural product that has a variety of pharmacological activities. Besides, some Chinese medicines reported that deacetylase sirtuin (SIRT)1 treats DVT by anti-inflammatory and anti-platelet production. However, the specific binding targets and binding modes have not been elaborated. The present study was to investigate whether phloretin attenuates DVT in model rats and oxidized low‑density lipoprotein (ox‑LDL) induced human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), and to explore its potential target. The results revealed that the treatment of phloretin, especially pretreatment of it elevated tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), prothrombin time (PT), thrombin time (TT), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT), and cell apoptosis proteins whereas it suppressed plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI), malondialdehyde (MDA), reactive oxygen species (ROS), fibrinogen (FIB) in DVT rats and cells. Concurrently, phloretin inhibited collagen type I alpha 1 (COL1A1), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), and inflammatory factors while it enhanced nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf-2), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1). In addition, 20 μM phloretin exerted powerful effective protection in HUVECs with DVT model. Later, the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) confirmed that phloretin has a high affinity with SIRT1. Furthermore, siRNA-SIRT1 transfection abolished the protective effect of phloretin against ox‑LDL‑induced DVT in HUVECs, indicating that phloretin targets SIRT1 to alleviate oxidative stress, cell apoptosis, and inflammation in DVT rats and HUVECs.

        Identification and co-expression network analysis of plumule-preferentially expressed genes in Oryza sativa

        Background The seedling establishment is controlled by the programmed expression of sets of genes at the specific tissues of seed, abundance and environment. Plumule is an important part of the seed embryo and expresses the suits of genes to exert distinct functions during seed germination. Although rice genomic resources are available and developed rapidly, thousands of transcripts have not previously been located in the plumule of rice. Objective This study was performed to identify plumule-preferentially expressed (OsPluP) genes in rice and determine the expression profiles and functions of OsPluP genes. Methods We identified the OsPluP genes through Affymetrix microarray data. Meanwhile, qRT-PCR was performed to validate the expression pattern, also found that OsPluP genes were regulated by dark/light treatment. The cis-acting regulatory elements were analyzed in the promoters’ regions of OsPluP genes. The T-DNA mutant of the OsPluP seed was used to reveal the function in seed germination. Results In this study, a genomic survey of OsPluP genes was performed, and we identified 88 OsPluP genes based on Affymetrix microarray data. The expression profiles of 88 OsPluP members in 24 representative tissues covering rice whole life cycle can be roughly classified into three major groups, suggesting functional divergence of OsPluP genes in seed germination. The microarray data, qRT-PCR, and promoter analysis results demonstrated that transcripts of more than half OsPluPs (54 genes) could be enhanced in the darkness and respond to phytohormone. Gene Ontology (GO)and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis demonstrated that OsPluP and their co-expressed genes were highly enriched in fatty acid metabolism. Moreover, OsPluP82 T-DNA mutant seeds displayed short plumule length and storage lipid accumulation. Conclusion This study would enable the functions of OsPluP genes during seed germination and contribute to the goal of molecular regulatory networks that lay the foundation for further studies of seedling growth.

        Systemic Reactions to Dust Mite Subcutaneous Immunotherapy: A 3-Year Follow-up Study

        Purpose: The incidence of allergen specific immunotherapy-related systemic reactions (SRs) varies among different studies, and many factors are likely to contribute to SRs. This study aims to investigate the incidence, characteristics, and risk factors of SRs to standardize dust mite-specific subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) in Central China. Methods: All patients receiving standardized dust mites (100-100,000 SQ-U/mL; Alutard SQ, Hørsholn, Denmark) immunotherapy were followed up. Recorded data included demographics, diagnosis, patient status, pulmonary function testing results before and after each injection, allergen dosage, and details of SRs. Results: From June 2011 to August 2014, a total of 208 patients received 4,369 injections; 27 (13.0%) patients experienced 48 (1.1%) systemic reactions. Most of the SRs were grade 2 reactions (n=30, 62.5%), followed by grade 1 (n=11, 22.9%), grade 3 (n=7, 14.6%), and no fatal reactions occurred. Forty-six SRs (95.8%) occurred within 30 minutes. Higher SR rates were associated with high concentration extracts (100,000 SQ-U/mL), injections with concomitant local reactions (LRs), children, asthma and high sensitivity (skin prick test 3+/4+ and/or sIgE≥17.5 kUA/L) (P<0.05). The estimated odds of SRs increased in children (OR=6.57; 95% CI: 1.88-22.97, P=0.003), asthmatic patients (OR=4.10; 95% CI: 1.72-9.80, P=0.002), and injections with LRs (OR=2.41; 95% CI: 1.33-4.36, P=0.004).Conclusions: The incidence of SRs to dust mite SCIT was low, and multiple factors were associated with the increased incidence of SRs. Children, asthmatics and patients with concomitant LR may be prone to develop SRs.

        Degradation and Drug-release Behavior of Polylactic Acid (PLA) Medical Suture Coating with Tea Polyphenol (TP) -Polycaprolactone (PCL)/Polyglycolide (PGA)

        The drug-release time of suture should meet with the healing time of wound, so it is needed to control the drugrelease performance of polylactic acid (PLA) suture. In this paper, two biodegradable polymers with different degradation rates, such as polycaprolactone (PCL) and polyglycolide (PGA), were applied to carry the drug of tea polyphenol (TP). The drug-loading finishing solution which is made of PCL/PGA carriers and TP, was coated on the PLA suture. The drug-release rate and time of PLA suture could be regulated by adjusting the proportion of PCL/PGA carriers. The results indicate that thesurface of drug-loaded PLA suture becomes rough. There is no obvious chemical reaction among the drug, carriers and PLA suture, just physical adhesion. With the increasing of PCL in drug-carriers, the strength of suture gradually increases. At 70/30 of PCL/PGA, the fracture elongation of suture reaches the highest point. In process of degradation, the surface of drugloaded PLA suture appears some holes after 25 weeks. The strength of sutures decreases gradually during degradation, and the effective strength time of sutures with various proportions of PCL/PGA is different. The drug-release rate of the suture isfast at early stage and slow at later stage and the higher the PGA proportion is, the faster the drug-release rate of the suture is.
