A biped walking robot is constructed and used to develop algorithms for noble tasks as climbing stairways and kicking a ball. The constructed biped robot system consists of four pat ; a host controller, a mechanical robot body, a CCD camera, and a local controller. An algorithm for climbing stairways is developed and applied to the biped robot. Experimental results show that the robot can climb stairways in a statically stable fashion with the developed algorithm. An algorithm for camera calibration with minimum nonlinear distortion is adopted to acquire three-dimensional distance from image data. The biped robot can kick a ball by using the acquired distance information.
Chest Roentgenographic Findings of Thymic Size and Shape in Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Sung, Ki Yeal,Kim, Jong Woo,Oh, Young Ho,Park, Seog Hee,Bahk, Yong Whee CATHOLIC MEDICAL CENTER 1984 Bulletin of the Clinical Research Institute Vol.12 No.1
Thymic size can be affected by both exogenous and endogenous glucocorticoids. Development of the repiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is influenced by adrenal cortical function. Thus, thymic size in RDS is considered to be enlarged due to decreased adrenal cortical function. To find whether the presence of RDS correlates with the thymus, the size and shape of the thymus were evaluated in the radiographs of premature infants with RDS, without RDS and normal infants. The subjects consisted of chest radiographs of Korean premature infants, 120 with RDS, 60 without RDS, and 60 of normal infants taken at the Department of Radiology, Our Lady Mercy Hospital during the period of 62 months since January 1978. Relatve size of the thymus was determined by cardiothymic/thoracic ratio (CT/T ratio). Grading and location of the thymic prominence as well as incidence of the shape were examined. And all the relations among the radiographs of the three groups were analyzed. The results were as follow: 1. The CT/T ratio of premature infants with RDS was singificantly greater than that of other groups(P<0.02). 2. The incidence of bilateral thymic prominence was mere frequent in premature infants with RDS than in other groups(P<0.05). 3. The frequency of thymic prominence was feater in the right than left side in all groups(P<0.05). 4. As in the shape of the thymus, a rounded type was most frequent, and a triangular type was least frequent in all groups. 5. Incidence of RDS was very low (9.8%) when the CT/T ratio was below 0.3 and it was very high (90.9%) when the CT/T ratio was above 0.49.

During the course of analysing both single-dish and very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) data obtained from the Korean VLBI Network (KVN), we found a systematic oset between ux density measurements from dierent antennas. We were able to attribute a majority of the systematic osets to changes in the \a priori" antenna gains, which were found to have varied up to 10 percent at 22 GHz and up to 30 percent at 43 GHz. Using historical calibrator observations, we present a revised set of gains that may be applied to KVN data taken from 2015 August to 2019 January. Application of the revised gains to the KVN results in a consistency of correlated ux density measurements between the three baselines of approximately ve percent. We found that images from the recalibrated data typically have a 50 percent higher dynamic range, with some cases showing an increase of dynamic range of up to a factor of three.

Purpose: Percutaneous iliosacral (IS) screw fixation for pelvic ring injuries is a minimally invasive technique that reduces the amount of blood loss and shortens the procedure time. Moreover, two unilateral IS S1 screws exhibit superior stability to a single IS screw and are also safer for neurological injuries than an S2 screw. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate fixation using percutaneous two unilateral IS S1 screws for pelvic ring injuries and its subsequent clinical outcomes. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 38 patients who underwent percutaneous two unilateral IS S1 screw fixation for pelvic ring injuries. The procedure time, blood loss, achievement of bone union, radiological outcomes (Matta and Tornetta grade), and postoperative complications were evaluated. Results: The mean procedure time, hemoglobin loss, bone union rate, and time to union were 40.1 minutes (range, 18-102 minutes), 0.6 g/dL (range, 0.3-1.0 g/dL), 100%, and 153.2 days (range, 61-327 days), respectively. The Matta and Tornetta grades were excellent, good, and fair in 24 (63.1%), 11 (28.9%), and three patients (7.9%), respectively, and the postoperative complications were S1 screw loosening, widening of the symphysis pubis (2.3 and 2.5 mm), lumbosacral plexopathy, and S1 radiculopathy in one (2.6%), two (5.3%), one (2.6%), and one patient (2.6%), respectively. However, all neurological complications recovered spontaneously. Conclusions: Percutaneous two unilateral IS S1 screw fixation was useful for treating pelvic ring injuries. In particular, it involved a short procedure time with little blood loss and also led to 100% bone union and good radiological outcomes.

This paper presents a new method for the control of a redundant manipulator with multiple additional tasks. The redundancy resolution problem is reformulated into a local constrained optimization problem(a convex programming problem), in which an objective function and a set of inequality constraints represent the imposed additional tasks and the kinematic equality constraints represent the basic motion task. The proposed method can directly incorporate the manipulator dynamics. It systematically assigns the priorities between the additional tasks. It also has the computational efficiency and a stable nature.
Breeding of the Early Pear Cultivar ‘Gamro’ (Pyrus pyrifolia) with High Quality for Summer Season
Whee Cheon Kim,Hae Sung Hwang,Il Sheob Shin,Yong Uk Shin,Don Kyun Lee,Hyun Mo Cho 한국원예학회 2006 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.47 No.3
‘Gamro’ pear originated from a cross ‘Niitaka’ and ‘Shinsui’ made in 1986 at National Horticultural Research Institute, Rural Development Administration, Suwon, Korea was preliminarily selected as ‘86-2-51’ in 1992 for its high fruit quality with good edible characteristics for summer season. After regional adaptability test at nine sites for 4 years from 1993 to 1996 as ‘Wonkyo Na-16’, it was finally selected in 1996. It blooms 2 days earlier than ‘Shinsui’ on April 1 during 1992?1996. ‘Gamro’ is vigorous in tree growth and upright-spreading in tree habit. Chemical control of scab (Venturia nashicolia) is necessary at optimum time, since ‘Gamro’ is susceptible to the disease like ‘Shinsui’. ‘Gamro’ produces little pollen grains with cross-incompatibility with ‘Minibae’ and ‘Sunhwang’. Therefore, it cannot be used as a single pollinizer for almost all cultivars. Optimum fruit harvest time is August 27, 4 days later than ‘Shinsui’ during 1992?1996 at Suwon (37˚15'N, 127˚00'E). Its fruit is roundish oblate in shape and yellowish green in skin color. Average fruit weight is 310 g and soluble solids content is 13.8˚Brix. Fruit flesh is very juicy and has negligible grit.
