<P>This paper presents a 12-bit multi-channel resistor–resistor-string digital-to-analog converter (RRDAC) using a shared R-string scheme for an area efficient display source driver. The proposed scheme relaxes the required equivalent resistance value of R-string of each channel by sharing a channel R-string that is simultaneously connected to the same tap of a global R-string. Thus, the overall DAC size can further be minimized while maintaining the same accuracy. That is, if the proposed scheme is implemented with the same size as the conventional RRDAC, higher accuracy can also be achieved. For the verification of shared resistor string scheme, a 12-bit RRDAC was fabricated using 0.35- <TEX>$\mu$</TEX>m standard CMOS technology. Compared with the conventional RRDAC, the proposed design showed a 15% reduction in size, a DNL of 0.49 LSB and an output voltage deviation of 9. 3mV for eight different chips. Also, the area per channel was 0.0465 mm<SUP>2</SUP>.</P>

Background Light-chain amyloidosis (AL) is the most common form of systemic amyloidosis. This study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of laboratory tests for light-chain clonality and bone marrow (BM) findings in AL amyloidosis. Methods We retrospectively enrolled patients newly diagnosed with AL amyloidosis on pathological examination who underwent a BM biopsy. Laboratory test data for light-chain clonality were collected and compared. Amyloid deposits were identified with H&E, Congo red, and PAS stains. Results We reviewed 98 patients with AL amyloidosis. Light chain clonality (λ, 64 cases; κ, 34 cases) was detected by serum immunofixation electrophoresis (IFE) (63.3%), urine IFE (70.8%), serum protein electrophoresis (PEP) (44.9%), urine PEP (44.8%), serum free light chain (SFLC) ratio (79.5%), and BM immunohistochemistry (IHC) (85.7%). Flow cytometric (FCM) assay identified aberrant BM plasma cells in 92.9% of cases. BM amyloid deposits were identified in 35 of the 98 cases (35.7%); 71.4% (25/35) were Congo red-positive, and 100.0% (35/35) were PAS-positive. Conclusion Laboratory tests for detecting light-chain clonality in AL amyloidosis in order of sensitivity include FCM assay for aberrant plasma cells, IHC for light chains on BM biopsy or clot section, SFLC ratio, and serum and urine IFE. Congo red staining of BM samples remains an important tool for identifying amyloid deposits in BM. Periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) staining can be useful in diagnosing some cases of Congo red-negative amyloidosis.

<P>This paper presents a direct digital frequency synthesizer (DDFS) based on the nonlinear DAC with a maximum operating frequency of 2 GHz. This work proposes three design methods to enhance the performance of a DDFS. First, a multi-level momentarily activated bias is proposed to reduce power dissipation in the phase accumulator. Second, a coarse phase-based consecutive fine amplitude grouping scheme is presented to reduce hardware complexity and power consumption in the digital decoder. Third, the mixed-wave conversion topology in the nonlinear DAC is proposed to improve the output spectral purity. The DDFS with 9 bit amplitude resolution is capable of producing a minimum spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 55.1 dBc up to Nyquist frequency at the clock frequency of 2 GHz. The prototype DDFS is fabricated in a 55-nm CMOS. It occupies an active area of 0.1 mm 2 with a total power dissipation of 130 mW. The figure of merit of this DDFS is 8944 GHz · 2 (SFDR/6) /W.</P>

<P>Molecular Borromean rings (BRs) is one of the rare topology among interlocked molecules. Template-free synthesis of BRs via coordination-driven self-assembly of tetracene-based Ru(II) acceptor and ditopic pyridyl donors is reported. NMR and single-crystal XRD analysis observed sequential transformation of a fully characterized monomeric rectangle to molecular BRs and vice versa. Crystal structure of BRs revealed that the particular topology was enforced by the appropriate geometry of the metallacycle and multiple parallel-displaced pi-pi interactions between the donor and tetracene moiety of the acceptor. Computational studies based on density functional theory also supported the formation of BRs through dispersive intermolecular interactions in solution.</P>
A Return-to-zero DAC with Tri-state Switching Scheme for Multiple Nyquist Operations

A return-to-zero (RZ) digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a tri-state switching scheme is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme provides a triple weight output for RZ operation by using a conventional differential current switch and simple pseudo-differential F/Fs. The RZ function is realized with only two additional transistors in each F/F cell, which results in a power dissipation increase of less than 5%. To verify the performance of the proposed method, a 10-bit RZ DAC is fabricated using standard 180-nm CMOS technology. Measured results show that the worst SFDR performances are 60 dBc and 55 dBc in the 1st and 2nd Nyquist bands, respectively, when operating at 650 MHz clock frequency. The total power consumption is 64 mW, and the active area occupies $0.25mm^2$.
Fuzzy Skyhook Control of A Semi-active Suspension System

In the recent years, the development of computer-controlled suspension dampers and actuators has improved the trade-off between the vehicle handling and ride comfort, and has led to the development of various damper control policies. The skyhook control is an effective control strategy for suppressing vehicle vibration. In this study, a fuzzy skyhook control is proposed and tuned by a genetic algorithm to improve ride comfort. The proposed fuzzy skyhook control is applied to a quarter-car model in order to compare its performance with continuous skyhook suspensions. To obtain optimized fuzzy skyhook control, scale factors and in-out membership functions are tuned by a genetic algorithm. The simulation results show that the fuzzy skyhook control offers more effective suspension performance over the continuous skyhook control.

필댐에서의 누수는 댐의 붕괴로 이어질 수 있는 중대한 결함으로 필댐의 누수대를 사전에 탐지하는 것은 댐의 유지관리에서 가장 중요한 부분이다. 본 연구의 목적은 전기비저항탐사를 통해 댐의 누수 여부를 판단했던 과거 정밀안전진단 사례를 분석하여 댐의 누수대를 파악하는 과정을 제시해 댐 유지관리에 적용 할 수 있도록 하는데에 있다.
