        Design and Analysis of a Novel 16/10 Segmented Rotor SRM for 60V Belt-Driven Starter Generator

        This paper proposes a novel 16/10 segmented rotor switched reluctance motor (SSRM) for belt-driven starter generators (BSGs). Different from conventional SRMs, the stator of the proposed SSRM consists of two types of stator poles, i.e., exciting and auxiliary poles, and the rotor is constructed from a series of discrete segments. The topology and operation principle of this proposed SSRM are illustrated firstly, and then the design rules are listed. In addition, the finite element method (FEM) is employed to get the static and dynamic characteristics of the proposed SSRM. Finally, the simulation results are presented to show the validity of the proposed SSRM for BSGs.

        Chinese Workfarism: Logics and Realities of the Work–Welfare Governance Model

        Given the fundamental disparities between China and the west in political structures, social values,policy regimes, and problem loads, it is meaningful to use “workfare” as a challenging analyticalstandpoint and detect that China had created unique workfare regimes to build up the past statesocialismand the present market-socialism. In the era of state-socialism, the dual-track welfaresystem, apparently adopting an institutional approach to the city and a residual approach to thecountryside, was purposely integrated with the segregated urban-rural work system, constituting aChina-specific workfare regime in which the whole workforce was included and effectively organizedinto the socio-economic order. Under market-socialism that appears as an awkward hybrid,the work-welfare governance model is being gradually transformed into a pragmatic, much marketizedone, though without idealogical legitimacy as well as a clear-cut vision. On the one hand,employment differentiation and income disparity resulted from a strategic shift from the “reformwithout-losers” stage to the “reform-with-losers” stage in the labor market, together with a largescale rural-to-urban labor migration, are structuring a market-oriented, stratified employmentsystem. On the other hand, while being a welfare laggard, China’s productivist, status-segregatedwelfare system is taking shape owing to a set of welfare reforms along the line of marketization andsocietalization. All these changes would imply that China is converging towards a neo-liberalregime in which the role of the state is residual to the market.

        Effect of Aspirin on the Expression of Hepatocyte NF-κB and Serum TNF-α in Streptozotocin-Induced Type 2 Diabetic Rats

        Aspirin is a kind of anti-inflammatory drug and may be used to reverse hyperglycemia,hyperinsulinemia, and dyslipidemia by improving insulin resistance. We hypothesized that aspirin improves insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes by inhibiting hepatic nuclear factor kappa-β (NF-κB) activation and serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, untreated diabetic, diabetic treated with metformin (100 mg /kg/day), and diabetic treated with aspirin (120 mg/kg/day). Diabetes was induced by high-fat feeding and a low dose of streptozotocin (30 mg/kg). After treatment, plasma glucose, insulin, lipids, free fatty acids (FFAs) concentrations and serum TNF-α were determined. The expression of NF-κB in hepatocytes was analyzed by immunohistochemistry and western blot. The results showed administration of aspirin caused no significant lowering in fasting glucose level but significant reduction of hepatic NF-κB expression and serum TNF-α level with improved insulin resistance compared to the diabetic group. The relevant analysis showed positive correlation between the expression of homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and NF-κB (r = 0.799, P <0.01); HOMA-IR and serum TNF-α (r = 0.790, P < 0.01). It is concluded that aspirin improves insulin resistance by inhibiting hepatic NF-κB activation and TNF-α level in streptozotocin-induced type 2 diabetic rats.

        중국 전지공예(剪紙) 기법 분석 기준에 따른 현대 패션디자인의 사례 연구 - 2015 S/S ~2019 S/S 컬렉션을 중심으로 -

        본 연구는 중국 전통 전지공예 기법에 대한 고찰과 이를 바탕으로 현대 패션에 표현된 사례를 전지공예 기법의 고유 특성에 따라 분석하고자 했다. 서적과 선행 연구를 통해 중국 전통 전지공예 기법을 분석한 후, 현대 사례로는 vogue.com의 최근 5년 컬렉션 자료를 사적 고찰하여 분석하였다. 연구 분석 결과, 첫째, 전통 전지공예 표현기법의 단색전지는 양·음각을 주기법으로하며 현대 패션에서 세밀한 강약 대비효과를 표현하였다. 이를 통해 현대 패션디자인의 예술적이면서 세밀한 장식적인 효과를 전달할 수 있다. 둘째, 현대 패션 디자인에 나타난 디자인 사례를 전통 전지공예 기법의 기준에 따라 분석하였고 그에 따른 대표적 미적가치를 찾을 수 있다. 셋째, 전통 전지 공예 기법 분석과 현대 패션디자인 적용 사례 분석을 통해 다양한 분야에 종사자들에게 창의적이고 무한한 활용 가능성을 제공할 것이다. In this study, we inspected the Chinese traditional paper cutting methods than based on the findings, the techniques and forms of shape of modern fashion were analysed, then analyzed their characteristics. The tradition paper cutting methodology was studied from books, and earlier studies, the case studies of modern fashion were collected from last five collections viewed from the webpage-vogue.com. The results of this study are as a following: firstly, Yin and Yang carving of monochrome paper cutting technique was often used to express the delicate contrast beauty in modern fashion designs. They were be able to convey artistic and decorative effect of Modern fashion design. Secondly, we found out the own aesthetic values from modern fashion design cases which were analysed by the Chinese paper cutting methodologies. Thirdly, Chinese paper cutting provided unlimited creativities and possibilities. Therefore, this study can provide a solid foundation to inherit the technique and multidirectional developments in various design fields in the future.

        Thermal Gradient–Dependent Strain Behavior of Contacted Soil Specimens Subjected to Freeze–Thaw

        Soil specimens were initially prepared by freezing with a thermal gradient (Fnonuni) and then thawing under uniform temperature (Tuni), then the strain behaviors of which using digital processing technique (DPT)–aided unconfined compression on contacted specimens were investigated. Although the specimen treated under Fnonuni - Tuni exbihted a strength over 1.8 times higher and a specimen scale–based (S–) lateral strain over 0.3 times smaller than that treated under freeze–thaw with uniform temperatures Funi - Tuni, it exhibited a relatively greater local scale–based (L–) strain level under identical S–axial strain, and dominated the deformation process of the specimen assembly. The characteristic of L–strain relationship between top and bottom specimens under Fnonuni - Tuni and specimens under Funi - Tuni approached identical when S–axial strain exceeded a threshold corresponding to the peak strength. Further, an asymmetric L–strain gradient at two sides of the fractured surface in specimens was observed, and it was more evident in specimens treated under Fnonuni - Tuni. These test data and observations obtained have been validated by detailed comparisons with previous studies, and contribute to build a constitutive model considering nonlocal variable and thus improve the settlement prediction precision of the thawed soils.

        Biomass and Carbon Storage in an Age-Sequence of Korean Pine (Pinus koraiensis) Plantation Forests in Central Korea

        This study examined the biomass and carbon pools of the main ecosystem components in an age sequence of five Korean pine plantation forest stands in central Korea. The C contents in the tree and ground vegetation biomass, coarse woody debris, forest floor, and mineral soil were estimated by analyzing the C concentration of each component. The aboveground and total tree biomass increased with increasing stand age. The highest C concentration across this chronosequence was found in the tree branch while the lowest C concentration was found in the ground vegetation. The observed C contents for tree components, ground vegetation, and coarse woody debris were generally lower than the predicted C contents estimated from a biomass C factor of 0.5. Forest floor C content was age-independent. Total mineral soil C content appeared to decline initially after establishing Korean pine plantations and recover by the stand age of 35 years. Although aboveground tree biomass C content showed considerable accumulation with increasing age, the relative contribution of below ground C to total ecosystem C content varied substantially. These results suggest that successional development as temporal factor has a key role in estimating the C storage in Korean pine plantation forests.

        Investigation of Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting for Mn-Doped In2O3 Film

        Undoped and Mn-doped In 2 O 3 fi lms were prepared by radiofrequency magnetron sputtering technique. The eff ects of Mn dopingon the structural and optical properties of as-prepared fi lms were investigated using X-ray diff raction, X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy. Mn doping can enhance the intensity of (222) peak in Mn-doped In 2 O 3thin fi lm, indicating Mn dopant promotes preferred orientation of crystal growth along (222) plane. XPS analyses revealedthat the doped Mn ions exist at + 2 oxidation states, substituting for the In 3+ sites in the In 2 O 3 lattice. UV–Vis measurementsshow that the optical band gap E g decreases from 3.33 to 2.87 eV with Mn doping in In 2 O 3 , implying an increasing sp–dexchange interaction in the fi lm. Our work demonstrates a practical means to manipulate the band gap energy of In 2 O 3 thinfi lm via Mn impurity doping, and signifi cantly improves the photoelectrochemical activity.

        Biomass Expansion Factors for Pinus koraiensis Forests in Korea

        Biomass expansion factors that convert the timber volume (or dry weight) to biomass are used to estimate the forest biomass and account for the carbon budget on a national and regional scale. This study estimated the biomass conversion and expansion factors (BCEF), root to shoot ratio (R), biomass expansion factors (BEF) and ecosystem biomass expansion factor (EBEF) of Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) forests based on direct field surveys and publications in Korea. The mean BCEF, BEF, and R was 0.6438 Mg $m^{-3}$ (n = 7, SD = 0.1286), 1.6380 (n = 27, SD = 0.1830), and 0.2653 (n = 14, SD = 0.0698), respectively. The mean EBEF, which is a simple method for estimating the understory biomass in Korean pine forest ecosystems, was 1.0218 (n = 6, SD = 0.0090). The values of the biomass expansion factors in this study estimated the Korean pine forest biomass with more precision than the default values given by the IPCC (2003, 2006).

        Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Treated with Radiofrequency Ablation in a Patient with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report

        Standard therapy has not been established for thyroid cancer when a thyroidectomy is contraindicated due to systemic disease. Herein, we reported a patient who had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and papillary thyroid carcinoma treated by radiofrequency ablation because of inability to tolerate a thyroidectomy. Radiofrequency ablation can be used to treat thyroid cancer when surgery is not feasible, although the long-term outcome needs further observation.
