It is important to inquiry into the characteristics of several features which are components of a city in studying. However, it was impossible to analyze the existing inquiries in micro because of the limitation of information. Especially, there were not any examples in small scale area and it was very hard to guess the characteristics of the area using the existing information and systems. I presented micro analysis method in small scale area. It was based on not only the production method of land cost and the density of population using GIS is more advanced than existing, but also compared analysis of each feathers through the Grid analysis.

ATM for B-ISDN becomes a key technology to be tackled in the future. In line with the technology trend, we have developed the technology for both N-ISDN and B-ISDN. In this paper, the development activities and experiences concerning N-ISDN and B-ISDN, the current state of the development and the future plan to realize broadband ISDN in Korea is presented.
Detection of potentially xenozoonotic viruses in the porcine ovary in Korea

The prevalence of potentially xenozoonotic viruses in the reproductive tract of female pigs in Korea was investigated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). These viruses include porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), swine hepatitis E virus (SHEV), porcine lymphotropic herpesvirus (PLHV), and porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2). Histopathological examination and PCR analysis were conducted using the ovaries of 70 slaughtered pigs that were collected from 14 farms in Jeju. Histopathologically, infiltrations of mononuclear inflammatory cells around the thick-walled coiled vessels in the ovarian medulla were observed in 15 cases. Based on the PCR method, PERV, PLHV, PRRSV, SHEV, and PCV-2 were detected in 69 (98.6%), 35 (50%), 5 (7.1%), 4 (5.7%), and 1 sample (1.4%), respectively. These results suggest that PERV and PLHV are the major xenozoonotic viruses in the porcine ovary. This study should aid in the development of a monitoring protocol for potential xenozoonotic agents and in the production of germ-free pigs for xenotransplantation.

<P>In this study, we investigated the inhibitory mechanisms of resorcinol in B16F10 mouse melanoma cells. We found that resorcinol reduced both the melanin content and tyrosinase activity in these cells. In addition, resorcinol suppressed the expression of melanogenic gene microphthalmia-associated transcriptional factor (MITF) and its downstream target genes tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein (TRP)-1, and TRP-2. In addition, we found that resorcinol reduced intracellular cAMP levels and protein kinase A (PKA) activity, and increased phosphorylation of the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK). Resorcinol was also found to directly inhibit tyrosinase activity. However, resorcinol-induced decrease in melanin content, tyrosinase activity, and tyrosinase protein levels were attenuated by SB203580, a p38 MAPK inhibitor. Taken together, these data indicate that anti-melanogenic activity of resorcinol is be mediated through the inhibition of cAMP signaling and activation of p38 MAPK, indicating that resorcinol may be a possible ameliorating agent in the treatment of hyperpigmentation skin disorders.</P>
폐경 후 여성의 골 밀도에 따른 혈중 생화학적 골대사 지표들의 양상

Objectives: To investigate the patterns of biochemical bone markers, such as urinary deoxypyridinolone(DPD), N-telopeptide of type I collagen (NTX), and serum osteocalcin (OC), bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BSAP) in postmenopausal women asccording their bone mineral density(BMD) Materials and Methods: From July 1997 to December 1997, total 432 postmenopausal women were enrolled in the present study. These women were pouped into the three groups (normal, osteopenic, and osteoporotic group), according to their bone mineral density (BMD) measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA). The biochemical bone markers of all women were assayed. Results were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOVA). The statistical significance was defined as p < 0.05. Results: The urinary NTX in the osteoporotic and the osteopenic gmups were significant higher than the normal group(71.27+-65.89 nM BCE/mM, 59.53+-29.61 nM BCE/mM vs. 50.28+-24.18 nM BCE/mM, p<0.05, respectively). The serum BSAP of the osteoporotic and the osteopenic groups were also significantly higher in comparison to the normal group(21.97+-11.55 U/L, 22.72+-9.63 U/L vs. 17.77+-7.67 U/L, p<0.05, respectively). However, there were no significant differences in the concentrations of urinary DPD and serum OC among the three group. Conclusion; The urinary N-telopeptide and serum bone-specific alkaline phosphatase might be sensitive indicators of bone metabolism and useful to diagnosis of early osteopenic women.

Individual identification is an important part in medicolegal field especially in mass disaster. At July, 27, 1989, KAL KE-803 was crashed on landing at Tripoli International Airport, Liba. The plane was caught in fire and sixty eight Koreans were sacrified. The majority of victims were severely charred and injured. The authors examed all dead bodies and successfully identified all the cases through visual, anthropological, odontological, radiological and pathological methods including fingerprint and blood typing.

Individual identification of severely decomposed or skeletonized bodies is an important part in medicolegal field. 142 bodies were torn up and carried away by flood in a park cemetry, Kwang-Ju, Kyunggi province, Korea at Sept., 10, 1990. The authors examed the 56 bodies, which were gained, through medical, anthropological, odontological, radiological methods, and superimposition for individual identification. Among them, 41 cases were successfully identified, and remaining 15 cases were not identified because of sever destruction and no adequate information.
