Fetal tachycardia (FT) is a rare disorder and is associated with signifcant mortality of fetus. Digoxin is one of the antiarrhythmic agents used to treat FT via transplacental therapy. In thisreport, we describe a therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) case of digoxin during the treatment ofFT. A 40-year-old woman, gravida 2 para 1, hospitalized to control FT as the fetal heart rate (FHR)showed over 200 bpm on ultrasonography at 29 weeks of gestation. She did not have any medicalor medication history and showed normal electrolytes level on clinical laboratory test results. Forthe treatment of FT loading and maintenance dose of intravenous digoxin (loading dose: 0.6 mg;maintenance dose: 0.3 mg every 8 hours) were administered. To monitor the efcacy and safetyof the treatment, TDM was conducted with a target maternal serum trough digoxin concentrationof 1.0 to 2.0 ng/mL, as well as ultrasonography and maternal electrocardiogram. The observeddigoxin serum concentrations were 0.67, 0.83, and 1.05 ng/mL afer 1, 2, and 5 days afer theinitiation of digoxin therapy, respectively. Although the serum digoxin concentrations reached the target range, the FHR did not improve. Therefore, digoxin was discontinued, and oral fecainidetherapy was started. The FHR adjusted to the normal range within 2 days from changingtreatment and remained stable. TDM of digoxin along with the monitoring of clinical responsescan give valuable information for decision-making during the treatment FT.
A Mid-Late Maturing and Lodging Tolerance Rice Variety Adaptable to Direct Seeding "Juan1"

"Juan1" is a new japonica rice variety of mid-late maturing, tolerance to lodging and adaptable to direct seeding which was developed by the rice breeding team of National Institute of Crop Science, RDA, in 2005. This variety is derived from a cross between Ilpumbyeo, a variety of good-eating quality and high yield, and SR18392-HB683-104. The Juanl has heading date of August 19 at ordinary planting in the middle plain. It has semi-erect plant type with culm length of about 80cm and tolerance to lodging. This variety shows susceptible to blast, bacterial blight, virus diseases and brown planthopper. The milled rice kernels of Juanl are translucent with non-glutinous endosperm, clear in chalkiness and medium short grain. It has also low amylose content of 18.8%, low gelatinization temperature and good palatability. The average milled rice yield of this variety was 5.68 MT/ha at ordinary planting in local adaptability test for three years from 2003 to 2005. Juan! would be highly adaptable to middle plain and mid-eastern coastal region of Korea.

In-situ conservation and Ex-situ conservation are two basic types of biodiversity conservation which are in respective article of the Convention on Biological Diversity(CBD). To successfully implement CBD, conservation of biodiversity is fundamentally required. In this regard, this paper aims to look over domestic policies related to in-situ conservation and ex-situ conservation and, to investigate priority and relative importance of the elements. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, we use Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method as an useful tool of the multi-criteria decision making approach in combination with expert interviews. The main results of the study are as follows: In-situ conservation is scored more priority scale than ex-situ conservation, as CBD specifies it as the primary conservation strategy. Among the in-situ conservation policies, ‘development regulatory provisions for the protection of threatened species and population’ and ‘establishment a system of protected area and development the necessary guidelines for the protected areas’ have more priority than any other measures. And among the ex-situ conservation policies, ‘effort for recovery and rehabilitation of threatened species and fore their reintroduction into natural habits’ are significantly considered in expert groups related to biodiversity conservation. In conclusion, the government should gather and harmonize various policies in the field of biodiversity rather than constructing new strategy or policy. As biodiversity issues are comprehensive, we need to pursue policy consistency and manage the conflict affecting biodiversity.
Methylation and microsatellite status and recurrence following adjuvant FOLFOX in colorectal cancer

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The prognostic impact of CpG island methylator phenotype (CIMP) and microsatellite instability (MSI) on the treatment outcome of colon cancer patients receiving adjuvant 5‐fluorouracil/leucovorin/oxaliplatin (FOLFOX) is unclear. We investigated CIMP and MSI status in colorectal cancer patients treated with adjuvant FOLFOX. Stages II and III sporadic colorectal cancer patients who underwent curative resection followed by adjuvant FOLFOX were included. Eight CpG island loci (CACNA1G, CRABP1, IGF2, MLH1, NEUROG1, CDKN2A (p16), RUNX3 and SOCS1) and five microsatellite markers were examined. Disease‐free survival (DFS) was analyzed according to CIMP and MSI status. A total of 322 patients were included: male/female 192/130, median age 61 years (range 30–78), proximal/distal location 118/204 and Stages II/III 43/279. CIMP status was high in 25 patients (7.8%) and 21 patients (6.5%) had MSI‐high tumor. CIMP/MSI status was not significantly associated with DFS: 3‐year DFS 100% in CIMP(−)/MSI(+), 84% in CIMP(−)/MSI(−), 82% in CIMP(+)/MSI(−) and 75% in CIMP(+)/MSI(+) (<I>p</I> = 0.33). Results of exploratory analysis showed that concurrent methylation at NEUROG1 and CDKN2A (p16) was associated with shorter DFS: 3‐year DFS 69% in NEUROG1(+)/CDKN2A (p16)(+) versus 87% in NEUROG1(−)/CDKN2A (p16)(−) (<I>p</I> = 0.006). In conclusion, concurrent methylation of NEUROG1 and CDKN2A (p16) is associated with recurrence following adjuvant FOLFOX in Stages II/III colorectal cancer.</P>

본 연구는 기존의 인공적으로 합성된 유기 자외선 차단제를 대체하는 안정적인 식물유래 천연 자외선 차단제(BHC-S)를 개발하기 위하여 수행하였다. 땅콩싹추출물, 병출추출물 및 곰피추출물로 구성된 천연 자외선 차단제(BHC-S)는 합성 자외선 차단제인 Parsol MCX-XR (OMC)와 동등 수준의 자외선 차단 효과를 가질 뿐만 아니라, 피부에 대한 안전성을 가지며, 주름개선 등 다기능성 효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 이로써, 자외선 차단 및 항노화을 위한 천연 화장품 원료로서의 이용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. Although wearable electrocardiograms (ECGs) are being increasingly applied in clinicalsettings, validation methods have not been standardized. As an exploratory evaluation,we performed a multicenter clinical trial implementing an approved wearable patch ECG. Healthy male adults were enrolled in 2 study centers. The approved ECGs were deployed for 6 hours, and pulse rates were measured independently with conventional pulse oximetryat selected time points for correlation analyses. The transmission status of the data wasevaluated by heart rates and classifed into valid, invalid, and missing. A total of 55 subjects(40 in center 1 and 15 in center 2) completed the study. Overall, 77.40% of heart rateswere within the valid range. Invalid and missing data accounted for 1.42% and 21.23%,respectively. There were signifcant diferences in valid and missing data between centers. The proportion of missing data in center 1 (24.77%) was more than twice center 2 (11.77%). Heart rates measured by the wearable ECG and conventional pulse oximetry showed a poorcorrelation (intraclass correlation coefcient = 0.0454). In conclusion, we evaluated themulticenter feasibility of implementing wearable ECGs. The results suggest that systemsto mitigate multicenter discrepancies and remove artifacts should be implemented prior toperforming a clinical trial.
Common ABCB1 SNP, C3435T could affect systemic exposure of dapagliflozin in healthy subject

P-glycoprotein (P-gp) is a transporter that plays an excretory role in epithelial cells. It is encoded by ABCB1, and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in this gene can affect systemic drug exposure. Dapagliflozin and sitagliptin, used in type 2 diabetes treatment, are P-gp substrates. Here, we aimed to investigate whether ABCB1 polymorphisms affect dapagliflozin and sitagliptin pharmacokinetics (PK) in healthy Korean subjects. The study population consisted of 100 healthy Korean subjects (94 men and 6 women) who participated in four different clinical trials and received dapagliflozin and sitagliptin doses of 10 and 100 mg, respectively. We determined ABCB1 genotypes for the C3435T, C1236T, and G2677T/A SNPs. The relationship between the genotypes and dapagliflozin PKs was examined. Dapagliflozin and sitagliptin PK parameters were not statistically significantly affected by ABCB1 SNP genotypes. However, homozygous 3435TT subjects showed higher dapagliflozin PK parameters than CT and CC subjects. In subjects with the 3435TT and those with 3435CC and 3435CT genotypes, mean C max , AUC inf , and AUC 0-1 values of dapagliflozin were 223.06 ng/ mL and 194.81 ng /mL (p = 0.2767), 673.58 ng*h/mL and 573.96 ng*h/mL (p = 0.0492), and 128.53 ng*h/mL and 104.61 ng*h/mL (p = 0.2678), respectively. In summary, dapagliflozin and sitagliptin PK parameters were not significantly different between individuals with C1236T and C2677T/A ABCB1 genetic polymorphisms. Dapagliflozin exhibited higher systemic exposure in 3435TT subjects than in CC/CT subjects.
