        Stigma and Efficacy of Zhizhu Kuanzhong Capsules Versus Doxepin in the Treatment of Refractory Functional Dyspepsia: A Randomized Controlled Trial

        Background/AimsStigma related with antidepressants is prevalent in patients with functional dyspepsia. It affects medication compliance and efficacy. Herbal medicine acquired a deep-rooted cultural identity in relieving dyspeptic symptoms in Asians. The research was designed to compare the effectiveness of Zhizhu Kuanzhong capsules (ZZKZ) versus doxepin hydrochloride (doxepin) on alleviating stigma and medication nonadherence among patients with refractory FD (rFD). MethodsPatients with rFD from February 2021 to February 2022 were randomly allocated to receive either doxepin (n = 56) or ZZKZ (n = 57) combined with omeprazole for 4 weeks. Medication possession ratio (MPR), the disease- and medication-associated stigma were analyzed. The scales were utilized to assess dyspeptic symptoms (Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire) and psychological conditions (Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire and Patient Health Questionnaire). ResultsThe MPR values for ZZKZ were significantly higher than those for doxepin (P < 0.001). The stigma scores decreased in ZZKZ group while increased in doxepin group compared to baseline after treatment. The proportion of patients showing ZZKZ-associated stigma was significantly lower than doxepin-associated stigma (P < 0.001). The MPR values were negatively correlated with post-treatment stigma scores in both groups (P < 0.001). Dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition were improved in both groups after treatment, with no significant difference on post-treatment Leeds Dyspepsia Questionnaire, Generalized Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire, or Patient Health Questionnaire scores between 2 groups. ConclusionZZKZ is superior to doxepin in alleviating stigma and medication non-adherence, with comparable efficacy in improving dyspeptic symptoms and psychological condition of patients with rFD.

        Seismic Performance Experiment Involving One-Story, Two-Bay Self-control Energy Dissipation UPPC Frames under Low Cyclic Loads

        This paper presents an experimental study of the behavior of three one-story, two-bay unbonded partially prestressed concrete (UPPC) frames, of which two frames are self-control energy dissipation UPPC frames. This study aims to use the self-control energy dissipation UPPC frame as a new frame, and its seismic performance is evaluated compared to that of existing UPPC frames. The new frame utilizes energy dissipation components to provide energy dissipation capabilities, which allow the frame to form a beamhinge mechanism under earthquake actions. The influence of the prestress release percentage on the seismic performance of the UPPC frame is experimentally examined. The test results show that the new UPPC frame displays better ductility and energy dissipation capabilities as the prestress release percentage increases, but the lateral resistance is slightly weaker than that of a common UPPC frame. Overall, the new frame displays better seismic performance than the conventional UPPC frame and can be reused after retrofitting.

        Fixed-time Prescribed Performance Vibration Suppression Control of the Electromechanical Transmission System with Actuator Faults

        This paper studied the fixed-time prescribed performance torsional vibration suppression control for the transmission system with actuator faults. Firstly, a novel electromechanical coupling torsional vibration model was established on the basis of the Lagrangian equation with the dissipation term and Kirchhoff’s law, which considered the nonlinear damping, nonlinear stiffness and the mechanical-electrical coupling relationship. Subsequently, an asymmetric fixed-time predetermined performance function was introduced to ensure that the state errors can converge in a given region in the fixed time, and a torsional vibration suppression control strategy with actuator faults was designed. A stability analysis indicated that the designed torsional vibration system was stable, and the performances of the transformed states were preserved. Finally, the transmission system of the rolling mill was selected as a research object for simulation testing, and the results illustrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

        Adaptive Torsional Vibration Control of the Nonlinear Rolling Mill Main Drive System with Performance Constraints and Sensor Errors

        This paper studies the torsional vibration suppression control problem for the nonlinear rolling mill main drive system with performance constraint requirements and unknown measurement sensitivities. Firstly, considering the nonlinear friction between the roll gaps, a torsional vibration model of the main drive system of rolling mill is established. Then, with the asymmetric performance constraints transformation, the motor torque control law is proposed based on backstepping algorithm. By introducing an adaptive bound estimation approach, the multipleunknown parameters caused by the sensor sensitivities can be approximated with very few adaptive laws. The dynamic surface technology is introduced to simplified the control design procedure and solve the computational explosion problem. It is strictly proved that the resulting closed-loop system is stable in the sense of uniformly ultimately boundedness and both transient and steady-state performances of the load speed are preserved. Finally, the simulation is provided to show the validity and the advantages of the proposed techniques.

        Elevating Limonene Production in Oleaginous Yeast Yarrowia lipolytica via Genetic Engineering of Limonene Biosynthesis Pathway and Optimization of Medium Composition

        As an alternative terpenoid producer, nonconventional oleaginous yeast Yarrowia lipolytica was chosen for limonene production. Y. lipolytica can give high biomass yield and metabolize a broad range of substrates such as glycerol, alkanes, fatty acid, fats, and oils. As previously reported, optimization of limonene synthesis pathway and mevalonate (MVA) pathway leads to the accumulation of 112-fold higher limonene as compared to an initial strain. In this study, we introduced an additional copy of limonene synthesis gene (LS), which resulted in an increase of limonene production. This engineered strain was used to carry out further optimization study. Amongst all the carbon sources tested, the highest level of limonene production was obtained from glycerol, and citrate was selected as an auxiliary carbon source. In fed-batch fermentation with an optimized medium, the engineered strain was found to produce 165.3 mg/L limonene, which corresponds to the highest yield till date for the production of limonene in Y. lipolytica.

        유가문화에 기초한 양안 일체화 탐색 -유교자본주의와 유교사회주의 논의를 중심으로-

        대만 전통문화는 중국 대륙에서 기원한 것으로, 대륙 문명은 서로 다른 색채를 띠고 있지만 같은 종족이며 같은 뿌리를 두고 있다. 오늘날 대만은 정치체제문제로 인해 당연히 취해야할 자원과 지리적 이점에 제한을 받고 있다. 전 지구화 추세가 진행되는 전환기에 지금 대만 언론은 신앙과 정신세계의 중요성을 간과하는 등 조급함과 당혹감을 감추지 못하고 있다. 유가 문화는 양안 지역의 일부 사회경제 문제를 해결할 수 있다. 오늘날의 사회 변천은 매우 거셌지만, 유학이 형성한 인생관과 가치관은 여전히 대만인의 주류 이데올로기를 형성하는 근간이 되었고, 유학의 영향을 받은 중국 내륙 및 기타 동아시아 지역은 서양 문명과 달리 유교문명권을 형성하였다. 본 논문은 유교권 문화를 바탕으로 양안 문화의 일체화를 모색하는 데 목적을 두고, 유교문화의 근원과 배경, 민본주의, 교육사상, 공동체의식, 시장과 국가의 역할 등을 설명하여 유교문화가 양안 일체화에 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는지를 탐색하였다. 주요 내용은 유교문화권의 사회경제적 발전 원인, 유교의 보편적 가치와 문화적 접변, 유교자본주의와 유교사회주의 논의를 통해 양안 사이에 존재하는 유교문화의 변증 통일을 통해 양안의 유교문화 융합을 모색하는 것이다. 더 나아가 양안 문화 융합의 미래가 중국 문명사에 어떤 영향을 미칠지에 대한 시사점과 비전을 제시하는 것이다. Traditional Taiwanese culture originated from the Chinese continent, and although Chinese continental civilizations have different colors, they are the same race and have the same roots. Today, Taiwan is limited by the natural resources and geographical advantages that must be taken due to political system problems. At a turning point in the globalization trend, Taiwanese media are now impatient and embarrassed, overlooking the importance of faith and the spiritual world. Confucian culture can solve some socioeconomic problems in Cross-Straits. Today’s social changes were very rapid, but the life and values formed by Confucianism were still the basis for forming the mainstream ideology of Taiwanese, and Inland China and other East Asian regions affected by Confucianism was formed Confucian civilizations, unlike Western civilizations. This paper aims to seek the integration of Cross-Straits culture based on Confucian culture, and studied how Confucian culture can play a role in integrating Cross-Straits by explaining the source and background of Confucian culture, People-oriented(Min-ben) thought, educational ideology, community consciousness, role of market and state. The main contents are to seek the convergence of Confucian culture through the dialectical unification of Confucian culture existing between Cross-Straits through socioeconomic development causes of Confucian culture, universal value and cultural contact, and discussion between Confucian capitalism and Confucian socialism. Furthermore, it presents implications and visions for how the future of Cross-Straits cultural convergence will affect the history of Chinese civilization.

        The cytoplasmic loops of AgrC contribute to the quorum-sensing activity of Staphylococcus aureus

        In Staphylococcus aureus, the accessory gene regulator (agr) quorum-sensing system is thought to play an important role in biofilm formation. The histidine kinase AgrC is one of the agr system components and activated by the self-generated auto-inducing peptide (AIP), which is released continuously into the extracellular environment during bacterial growth. The extracellular loops (Extra-loops) of AgrC are crucial for AIP binding. Here, we reported that the cytoplasmic loops (Cyto-loops) of AgrC are also involved in Agr activity. We identified S. aureus ST398 clinical isolates containing a naturally occurring single amino acid substitution (lysine to isoleucine) at position 73 of an AgrC Cyto-loop that exhibited significantly stronger biofilm formation and decreased Agr activity compared to the wild-type strain. A constructed strain containing the K73I point mutation in AgrC Cyto-loop continued to show a growth dependent induction of the agr system, although the growth dependent induction was delayed by about 6 h compared to the wild-type. In addition, a series of strains containing deletion mutants of the AgrC Cyto- and Extra-loops were constructed and revealed that the removal of the two Cyto-loops and Extra-loops 2 and 3 totally abolished the Agr activity and the growth-dependence on the agr system induction. Remarkably, the Extra-loop 1 deletion did not affect the Agr activity. In conclusion, the AgrC Cyto-loops play a crucial role in the S. aureus quorum-sensing activity.

        Stochastic MAC-layer Interference Model for Opportunistic Spectrum Access: A Weighted Graphical Game Approach

        This article investigates the problem of distributed channelselection in opportunistic spectrum access networks from aperspective of interference minimization. The traditional physical(PHY)-layer interference model is for information theoretic analysis. When practical multiple access mechanisms are considered,the recently developed binary medium access control (MAC)-layerinterference model in the previous work is more useful, in whichthe experienced interference of a user is defined as the numberof competing users. However, the binary model is not accurate inmathematics analysis with poor achievable performance. Therefore,we propose a real-valued one called stochastic MAC-layer interferencemodel, where the utility of a player is defined as a functionof the aggregate weight of the stochastic interference of competingneighbors. Then, the distributed channel selection problemin the stochastic MAC-layer interference model is formulated asa weighted stochastic MAC-layer interference minimization gameand we proved that the game is an exact potential game which existsone pure strategy Nash equilibrium point at least. By using theproposed stochastic learning-automata based uncoupled algorithmwith heterogeneous learning parameter (SLA-H), we can achievesuboptimal convergence averagely and this result can be verified inthe simulation. Moreover, the simulated results also prove that theproposed stochastic model can achieve higher throughput performanceand faster convergence behavior than the binary one.
