Thin-walled muLticell box girders subjected to an eccentric load can be produced the three global behaviors of flexure, torsion, and distortion. Specially in railway bridges subjected to much eccentric load, it is quite important to evaluate influences of torsion and distortion. But it is very difficult to evaluate each influences of major behaviors numerically. If we can decompose an eccentric load P into flexural, torsional, and distortional forces, we can execute quantitative analysis each influences of major behaviors. Decomposition of Applied Load for Thin-walled Rectangular multi-cell box girders is reserched by Park, Nam-Hoi(Development of a multicell Box Beam Element Including Distortional Degrees of Freedom, 2003). But researches about trapezoidal multi-cell section is insufficient. So, this paper deals with multi-cell trapezoidal box girders. An expanded method, which is based on the force decomposition method for a single-cell box girder given by Nakai and Yoo, is developed herein to decompose eccentric load P into flexural, torsional, and distortional forces. Derive formulas by decomposition of eccentric load is verified by 3D shell-modelling numerical analysis.
추적조사를 중심으로 한 腰椎間板脫出症에 대한 蜈蚣藥鍼의 臨床的 硏究

Objective : This study is performed for the purpose of examining the efficacy of the scolopendrid(Scolopendra morsitans L) which has been to low back pain as a folk remedy. Methods & Results : Seventy patints with H.I.V.D. treated with the scolopendrid aquacupuncture and examined 4 tests; D.I.T.I., physical test, Oswestry disability index, and self-conscious pain rate were studied. And we follow up after discharge, we evaluated the present state and recovery period. Or we evaluated by herniated type and duration of onset. There was 58~97% of efficacy rate in each tests. Moreover, statistically valuable change in all 7D.I.T.I. points and in disability index and in self-conscious pain rate was showed. Conclusion : The scolopendrid aquacupuncture is possible to be effective terating the H.I.V.D patients. so we suggest the possibility using this new remedy to the H.I.V.D. patients.
An independent distortional analysis method of thin-walled multicell box girders

When a thin-walled multicell box girder is subjected to an eccentric load, the distortion becomes an important global response in addition to flexure and torsion. The three global responses appear in a combined form when a conventional shell element is used thus it is not an easy task to examine the three global responses separately. This study is to propose an analysis method using conventional shell element in which the three global responses can be separately decomposed. The force decomposition method which was designed for a single-cell box girder by Nakai and Yoo is expanded herein to multicell box girders. The eccentric load is decomposed in the expanded method into flexural, torsional, and multimode distortional forces by using the force equilibrium. From the force decomposition, the combined global responses of multicell box girders can be resolved into separate responses and the distortional response which is of primary concern herein can be obtained separately. It is shown from a series of extensive comparative studies using three box girder bridge models that the expanded method produces accurate decomposed results. Noting that the separate consideration of individual global response is of paramount importance for optimized multicell box girder design, it can be said that the proposed expanded method is extremely useful for practicing engineers.
[Evaluation of a multiplex PCR kit used for detecting y chromosome microdeletions.]

<P>BACKGROUND: In addition to Klinefelter's syndrome, microdeletion of Yq is the most common genetic cause of male infertility; 15% of azoospermic or 5-10% of oligozoospermic males have Yq deletions. We evaluated a Yq microdeletion kit (LG Life Sciences, Korea) for identifying microdeletions in the azoospermic factor (AZF) regions of the Yq. METHODS: The kit was designed to amplify 3 regions of the AZF gene (AZFa, AZFb, and AZFc) using 15 sequence-tagged sites. We evaluated the preclinical performance of the kit. For clinical validation, 58 patients including 25 idiopathic azoospermic or oligozoospermic patients were examined. RESULTS: We observed clear bands on electrophoresis of DNA, up to a DNA concentration of 3.12 ng/microL; the known microdeletion regions of all 6 reference cell-lines (Coriell, USA) were accurately detected and no false positive/negative results showed with normal female (n=11) and fertile male (n=15) specimens. This kit could identify the same microdeletions in the common regions, similar to another commercial kit. Among the 58 male infertile patients, 7 (12.1%) had microdeletions of the Yq. Among the idiopathic azoospermic (n=22) and oligozoospermic (n=3) patients, 3 (12.0%) had microdeletions. Further, 2 of 21 varicocele patients (9.5%), 1 of 4 patients with testicular failure, and 1 patient with a 45,X/46,XY mosaic had microdeletions. CONCLUSIONS: The kit was effective for detecting microdeletions of the Yq. We identified microdeletions in 12% of the infertile patients. This Y chromosome microdeletion detection kit is useful for screening Yq microdeletions in infertile patients.</P>
