A Fuzzy based Routing Protocol for Delay Tolerant Network

Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is a wireless ad hoc network that intends to provide communication between pair of nodes in spite of having intermittent connectivity and long delays. The nodes are buffer and energy constrained. To provide communication in such scenario, a sturdy routing mechanism is needed. In this paper we propose a new routing technique based on fuzzy logic for intermittently connected network. Also an effort has been made to evaluate the performance of the proposed routing strategy in realistic environment (having obstacles) in MATLAB. The simulation results show that the performance of the network is improved using fuzzy logic based routing strategy and the results of realistic environment are quite different from idealistic environment.

The present research work was undertaken to optimize and formulate Promethazine Theoclate as a fast dissolving tablet using pore forming technology that disintegrates or dissolves rapidly and offer a suitable approach for the treatment of nausea and vomiting. Fast dissolving tablets of Promethazine Theoclate was prepared by increasing the solubility i.e. using β-cyclodextrin, crospovidone, and menthol. A 33 full factorial design was employed to investigate the combined influence of these three independent variables, i.e., amount of menthol, crospovidone and β-cyclodextrin on disintegration time, percentage friability and percentage drug release after 5 min. In the optimization study, multiple regression analysis has revealed that an optimum amount of menthol, crospovidone and β-cyclodextrin gives a rapidly disintegrating/dissolving tablet. In order to prove the validity of the evolved mathematical model a checkpoint batch was also prepared. Optimized tablets were prepared with an optimum amount of β-cyclodextrin, menthol and crospovidone which disintegrated in the 30 s, having friability 0.599% and released drug 89% after 5 min.
Immunohistochemistry: sole tool in diagnosing a rare case of primary vaginal amelanotic melanoma

We report a rare case of vaginal amelanotic melanoma. Malignant melanomas are cutaneous and extracutaneous tumors that arise from embryological remnants of neural crest cells/melanocytes. Amelanotic melanomas at such rare locations can be misdiagnosed both clinically and radiologically. Therefore, histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry are mandatory for the diagnosis of these tumors. We diagnosed this case using histopathology and confirmed the diagnosis based on the presence of immunohistochemical markers human melanoma black 45 (HMB45) and S-100.

The capability of microsatellite markers for individual identification and their potential for breed assignment of individuals was evaluated in two Indian horse breeds. The strength of these individual assignment methods was also evaluated by increasing the number of loci in increments of five. The probability of identity of two random horses from the two breeds at all twenty five studied loci was as low as $1.08{\times}10^{-32}$ showing their suitability to distinguish between individual horses and their products. In the phylogenetic approach for individual assignment using Nei's genetic distances, 10.81% of horses associated with breed other than the major cluster of the source breed horses when all twenty five microsatellite loci were implemented. Similar results were obtained when the maximum likelihood approach for individual assignment was used. Based on these results it is proposed that, although microsatellite markers may prove very useful for individual identification, their utility for breed assignment of horses needs further evaluation.

Study Design: Prospective case series. Purpose: To study the safety and feasibility of cotransplantation of bone marrow stem cells and autologous olfactory mucosa in chronic spinal cord injury. Overview of Literature: Stem cell therapies are a novel method in the attempt to restitute heavily damaged tissues. We discuss our experience with this modality in postspinal cord injury paraplegics. Methods: The study includes 9 dorsal spine injury patients with American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Impairment Scale (AIS) A neurological impairment who underwent de-tethering of the spinal cord followed by cotransplantation with bone marrow stem cells and an olfactory mucosal graft. Participants were evaluated at the baseline and at 6 monthly intervals. Safety and tolerability were evaluated through the monitoring for adverse events and magnetic resonance imaging evaluation. Efficacy assessment was done through neurological and functional outcome measures. Results: Surgery was tolerated well by all participants. No significant difference in the ASIA score was observed, although differences in the Functional Independence Measure and Modified Ashworth Scale were statistically significant. No significant complication was observed in any of our patients, except for neurogenic pain in one participant. The follow-up magnetic resonance imaging evaluation revealed an increase in the length of myelomalacia in seven participants. Conclusions: The cotransplantation of bone marrow stem cells and olfactory mucosa is a safe, feasible and viable procedure in AIS A participants with thoracic level injuries, as assessed at the 24-month follow-up. No efficacy could be demonstrated. For application, further large-scale multicenter studies are needed.
