Development of Rehabilitative and Assistive Systems

Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare established the Research Institute (NRCRI) within National Rehabilitation Center, Seoul, Korea one and half years ago in order to perform rehabilitation research and development projects which can improve the quality of life of Korean with disabilities. NRCRI is engaged in several efforts to develop rehabilitative and assistive devices and systems based on the needs of Korean with disabilities. As we began to plan the research tasks, we investigated what kinds of difficulties they suffer and what Assistive Technologies are needed by conducting a comprehensive survey study and having meetings with persons with diverse disabilities as the first research project. Based on the results of this needs survey, we planned and executed several research and development projects. Whereas some of them are performed with low or middle technologies, others required high technologies which are used in developing robots, automobile, and airplane. In this article our research and development works in the NRCRI will be introduced briefly.

국내진출 다국적기업의 글로벌정보시스템 도입에 관한 연구

글로벌화된 비즈니스 환경에서 경쟁우위를 지속적으로 개발하고 강화해야 하는 다국적기업들은 지식자산의 전략적 중요성을 인식하게 되었으며, 지식 자산을 최대한 활용하여 경쟁우위를 개발하기 위하여 글로벌정보시스템을 구축하는 노력을 경주해 왔다. 그러나 다국적기업내의 현지자회사들이 자사의 전략에 따라 상이한 정보시스템을 자체적으로 개발했기 때문에 도입 성과는 기대에 미치지 못했으며, 따라서 표준화된 글로벌정보시스템의 구축이 필요 하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 대표적인 글로벌정보시스템인 전사적 자원관리 (ERP) 시스템 도입 시, 현지자회사가 새로운 지식을 적극적으로 수용하게 하는 동기적 요인들이 글로벌정보시스템의 사용자 만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 분석하였다. 연구에 포함된 동기적 요인으로는 새로운 시스템 도입에 대한 보상체제, 시스템에 대한 신뢰도, 경영층의 지원 등이며, 실증분석 결과, 경영층의 지원은 만족도에 긍정적으로 유의적인 영향을 미치고, 도입되는 정보시스템 자체에 대한 신뢰는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 보상체제는 도리어 시스템 사용자의 만족도에 부정적인 영향을 주었는데, 새로운 지식시스템의 도입 시 강제적이고 결과중심적인 보상보다는 자발적인 수용을 권장하고 보상하는 방법이 필요할 것이다. Given the irreversible trend of globalization, multinational companies have recognized the significance of adopting standardized global information systems that aim to integrate worldwide operations and promote their efficiency. With the cases of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as a representative global information system adopted by subsidiaries in Korea, this study tests whether motivational factors – incentive mechanism, trust to the adopted ERP system, support from executives ‐ at the Korean subsidiaries lead to higher users’ satisfaction. The empirical results found that only support from top managers increased the satisfaction level of users of the new global information system, while outcome‐oriented compensation system reduced the satisfaction level. Managerial implications are also provided.
