      • Identifying Needs and Wishes for Redesigning an air purifier

        The study was designed to find wishes and needs of single households about air purifier through three experiments (Narration test, Focus group interview, Collage making). A total of 4 males and 1 female college students were employed as subjects for the experiment. All of the subjects had a small residential living experience, and the use of air purifiers did not affect the recruitment of subjects. Experimental results show that overall UI usability problems and size related issues are mainly revealed. Also, the results showed that subjects were most desirous of air cleaners with harmonious design and natural feeling of freshness.

        Neutralization of acidic soil using Myxococcus xanthus: Important parameters and their implications

        Soil acidification through acid rain/deposition has been a serious problem that adversely affects the soil environment. In this study, Myxococcus xanthus, myxobacteria, was assessed towards neutralization of artificial acidic soil. Differences in initial pH and peat moss content in soil with incubated M. xanthus were being compared using a one-variable-at-a-time approach. It showed that the M. xanthus could neutralize the acidified soil using their specific metabolism, producing ammonium ions and hydroxide simultaneously. Increasing peat moss content could direct the neutralization performance of M. xanthus towards inhibition whereas reducing the peat moss content could improve the neutralization performance. Among experimental parameters such as initial pH, peat moss content in soil, and microorganism concentration, the interaction of soil amount either with peat moss content or microbial population density was meaningfully correlated to the neutralization of acidic soil.

      • THE EFFECT OF NFT MARKETING ACTIVITIES ON E-WOM REGARDING LUXURY BRANDS

        With the growth of blockchain technology, the potential of NFTs is receiving significant attention across all industries. As NFTs emerge as a novel type of asset, they are drawing attention as a potentially important market, particularly for many luxury goods. This study aims to understand the concept of NFTs and their influence on e-WOM. This study develops a research model that facilitates an understanding of luxury brands’ NFT marketing activities and tests it with a consumer survey. Our analysis reveals important characteristics of perceived NFT marketing activities such as scarcity, resaleability, and authenticity. Furthermore, the impact of specific NFT marketing activities and their influence on e-WOM are discussed. This study contributes theoretical insights for researchers and has practical implications for practitioners who manage marketing activities for NFTs.

      • Spatial Configuration and Residential Satisfaction in Welfare Housing for Low-income Single-mother Households

        This paper examines spatial features and residential satisfaction in welfare housing for low-income single-mother households in Seoul, Korea. The housing facilities’ spatial characteristics are identified, and residential satisfaction is surveyed among different types of welfare housing. Particularly, spatial configuration and residential satisfaction are studied across various dimensions such as housing unit, circulation space, common space, outdoor open space, neighborhood facilities, and service and management. Satisfaction indices in each dimension are measured, and resulting residential satisfaction is compared among different housing types. Housing type classification and spatial dimensions emerged from field trip studies. Satisfaction data are obtained through structured questionnaires administered to 103 residents from 10 facilities. The questionnaires are composed of objective and subjective attributes of welfare housing in the six dimensional categories. Residents are satisfied with their residential environments in general; 43% of the surveyed respondents reported that they were satisfied or very satisfied with their housing environments. The service and management dimension is the most satisfactory, and the neighborhood facilities dimension is the least satisfactory in all housing types. Satisfaction in objective and subjective attributes varies across different dimensions by housing type. The data analysis and findings are discussed, and conclusive remarks on design, management, and policy implications are suggested.

        비정형 건축 외장의 재현과 구축을 위한 통합적 디지털 디자인 프로세스 적용 연구

        본 연구는 현대 건축의 유기적 디자인 사조와 디지털 디자인 패러다임을 반영하는 비정형 건축을 대상으로 통합적 디지털 디자인 프로세스의 실무 적용 방식을 논하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 먼저 문헌고찰을 통해 현대 비정형 건축의 유기적 형태 구조와 디지털 건축패러다임의 철학적 수학적 사유체계 배경을 조명한다. 또한 비정형 건축의 디지털 디자인 프로세스를 형태 생성 재현 구축 과정으로 세분화하여 각 단계별 적용되는 디지털 기술을 파악한다. 특히 디지털 건축 정보의 연속적 흐름에 의해 형태 생성 재현 구축 단계가 상호연계되는 통합적 디지털 디자인 프로세스에 주목하여 이를 지원하는 디지털 모델링과 제작 기술을 살펴본다. 사례분석에서는 최근 십년간 시공된 국내외 비정형 건축 외장 디자인 사례들을 선별하여 통합적 디지털 디자인 프로세스가 적용되는 방식과 디지털 모델링 및 제작기술이 연계되는 방식을 분석한다. 설계자의 의도와 프로젝트의 특성에 따라 기술의 선택과 활용 범위에 차이가 있을 수 있으나 조사 결과 다음과 같은 적용 방식을 도출할 수 있다. 형태 생성과 재현 과정이 연계된 경우 운동 기반 모델링 넙스 모델링 패라메트릭 모델링이 통합적으로 사용되고 있다. 형태 재현과 구축 과정이 연계된 경우 패라메트릭 모델링과 전통적인 CAD/CAM 소프트웨어가 통합되고 있다. 특히 패라메트릭 기반의 소프트웨어가 설계 초기 단계부터 적용된 경우 형태 생성 재현 구축의 전 과정에서 디지털 건축 정보가 연속적으로 상호 피드백 되며 디자인과 엔지니어링 분야 간의 통합적 협업이 지원되고 있다. 따라서 통합적 디지털디자인 프로세스에서는 연속된 디지털 건축 정보의 공유를 통해 유기적으로 프로젝트를 제어할 수 있고 전통적인 협업 방식의 변화를 수반하고 있어 미래 건축 실무 환경에 시사하는 바가 크다. This research deals with an integrated digital design process and related technologies for free-form architecture one of the main design streams in contemporary architecture. In theoretical backgrounds organic design streams and digital design paradigm are reviewed. The integrated digital design process is investigated in terms of form formulation representation and construction. However the intent of this research is not merely to introduce digital representation and an automated process of form generation and fabrication. But a goal is to understand the implication of the integrated digital design process as a seamless project delivery method. As such recent free-form architecture projects are analyzed to understand the implementation of the integrated digital design process and related digital technologies in practice. In the case that the formulation and representation process are focused kinetic & dynamic NURBS and parametric modeling are integrated. Whereas the representation and construction process are focused parametric modeling and traditional CAD/CAM technology are integrated. Especially when parametric softwares are applied throughout the entire process integrated collaboration among participants take place by exchanging and feed-backing digital design information. Hence the integrated digital design process supports not only a seemless translation of digital information but also a new relationship among participants which will ultimately influence work environments in architectural practice.

        멀티큐 SSD를 위해 멀티코어 확장성을 제공하는 공정한 입출력 스케줄링

        최근에 제안된 NVMe 기반의 멀티큐 SSD는 여러 개의 코어들이 전담 큐들을 통해 병렬적으로 입출력을 수행함으로써 높은 SSD 대역폭을 제공한다. 이러한 멀티큐 SSD에 대해서 입출력 응용마다 대역폭 지분을 제공하기 위해서는 각 코어에게 대역폭 지분을 제공하는 것이 요구되며, 이를 위한 공정지분 스케줄링이 필요하다. 본 논문은 멀티큐 SSD를 위해 멀티코어 확장성을 제공하는 공정 큐잉 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 무작위 선택 기법을 이용하여 코어간 동기화 오버헤드를 최소화하고 각 코어가 가중치에 비례하는 대역폭을 수신하도록 한다. 실험 결과, 제안하는 알고리즘은 block-mq를 사용하는 커널에서 정확한 대역폭 분할 효과를 보여주며, 코어 개수에 상관 없이 기존 FlashFQ 스케줄러보다 우수한 성능을 보여준다. The emerging NVMe-based multi-queue SSDs provides a high bandwidth by parallel I/O, i.e., each core performs I/O through its dedicated queue in parallel with other cores. To provide a bandwidth share for each application with I/O, a fair-share scheduler that provides a bandwidth share to each core is required. In this study, we proposed a multi-core scalable fair-queuing algorithm for multi-queue SSDs. The algorithm adopts randomization to minimize the inter-core synchronization overheads and provides a weight-proportional bandwidth share to each core. The results of our experiments indicated that the proposed algorithm gives accurate bandwidth partitioning and outperforms the existing FlashFQ scheduler, regardless of the number of cores for a Linux kernel with block-mq.
