        "단편소설집의 사이클"로서 단 리의『옐로우』연구

        이수미 ( Su Mee Lee ) 한국영어영문학회 2011 영어 영문학 Vol.57 No.5

In this paper, I`ll try to read Don Lee`s Yellow intertextually with a more canonical text, Sherwood Anderson`s Winesburg, Ohio, in order to see what kind of traditions and techniques Yellow references and/or rewrites as a way of tracking this production. Yellow`s formal properties as a short story cycle are established through its use of particular conventions. For instance, Yellow follows the short story cycle model that includes the assemblage of recurring characters into one locale. Yellow`s characters are all connected to and at some point located in the fictional small town of Rosarita Bay, California. The text form aligns it with established literary conventions and traditions and suggests the author`s reliance upon or trust in those modes. Yellow`s setting in a small town alludes to and has often been compared to Anderson`s Winesburg, Ohio, which is perhaps one of the most well-known and extensively discussed short story cycles in American literature. Also following convention is Lee`s construction of Rosarita Bay and the text`s third person narrator as a member of that town. Both Rosarita Bay and the narrator become important figures through the related-tale nature of the text. The method of story-telling is similar to how the town Winesburg and its "seemingly sympathetic and non-overtly judgmental" narrator are operational in Anderson`s text. In sum, Yellow is opportune for intertextual reading largely because it is a collection of stories that create a linked series.

        한국 연극의 현대성 탐구 1

        이미원 한국연극학회 1998 한국연극학 Vol.10 No.1

The plays of Kunsam Lee definitely open the new era of Korean modern drama. Since he published his debut play of 'A Writing Pad(Wongogi)' in 1960, Kunsam Lee kept anti-realistic attitude throughout his plays. He applied various techniques and concepts of modern Western theatre to his plays. His plays used various anti-realitsic methods such as epic theatre, allegory and expressionism. They criticised the political and social situations of contemporary Korea. His views toward the society were very cynical and even ridiculous. This essay selects seven representative plays of Kunsam Lee. 'A Writing Pad' showed us the influence of Expressionsim, while 'The emperor refused to die' used the technique of multi-allegory. 'There is Something left (Kukmul issayopnida)'is a sort of balck comedy of manners, which comically satired the worship of materialism. 'A wandering company(Eurang Kukdan)' used the technique of 'play within a play' and succeeded to the spirit of traditional theatre. 'The trial of Abelman' is an allegory, asking the relation of justice and the political power. 'Goose (Kaesani)' reinterpreted the period of Japanese invasion in the 16th century from the point of a common woman whose nickname was Goose. In other words, the writer rewrote the history from the view of a modern man. 'The real property of Sungkae Yi, the founder of Yi dynasty' used the parody to tell the story of a rich contemporary man, who mistook himself for Sungkae Yi, the founder of Yi dynasty. The illusion and the reality were mixing, and the truth became illusive. Indeed, the plays of Kunsam Lee used various anti-realistic techniques of contemporary western drama to criticise the contempoary Korean society. He reserved any moral judgement and kept the distance. Thus, his plays impress us with intelligence and cynicism. Most characteristics of his plays are new to Korean drama. Consequently, his plays open new era of Korean modern drama, which is free from realism and emphasizes theatricality.

        이현화 희곡과 포스트모더니즘

        이미원 한국연극학회 2001 한국연극학 Vol.0 No.16

This essay tries to analyze the postmodernity of the plays of Hyunhwa Lee. Bulgabulga(No-Yes-No-Yes- : 1982) and Sanssitkim (A Dead Ritual for a Living : 1981) will be examined since these plays are believed to be the two basic poles of his plays. Bulgabulga represents the world of deconstruction while Sanssitkim emphasizes that of interculuralism, even though both trends are found in the two plays. The basic concepts and techniques of deconstruction are found in Bulgabulga. The total and definite meanings of the play are kept elusive. Many devices such as a play within a play, repetition, a pun on the marginal words of positive and negative intensify its elusiveness, and obscure its definite meaning. The meaning seems to be delayed endlessly like Derrida's conceptual word of 'Differant'. Even historical facts are artfully repetitious and contribute to the delay of total meaning of the play. There are two different cultures and forms chat clash in Sanssitkim even at first sight. Within the frame of causality plot, the transcendental frame of Ssitkimkut, a shaman ritual for the dead, is working. The effects of Artaurd's cruelty theatre and the Korean shaman ritual are well mixed to create a intercultural theatre. Many features of the play such as structure, the use of repetitious silence and words, props, and acting are interwoven by the western and Korean traditions and make the most of intercultural techniques. Though the analytic methods of deconstruction and interculturalism are applied to each play respectively, both trends could be found in these plays. Bulgabulga is intercultural in the sense that it uses the linear plot of the west as well as the repetitious plot of Korean folk plays; there are also many mixtures of Korean and the Western elements in costume and props. Sanssitkim is de-constructive just to deny the binary world of the West and the East, and to create a third aesthetic experience. Indeed, the plays of Hyunhwa Lee successfully carry the world of deconsturction and interculturalism. In other words, he is a pioneer who established postmodern theatre in Korea as early as the early 1980s.

Today human needs for health promotion and maintenance are increasing. The nursing progression has a great responsibility for helping clients to practice good health behavior. self efficacy was found to be potent predictor in initiating and maintaining the health-related behavior. Therefore, the concept is important in nursig intervention for change of health behavior. The purpose of this paper was to analyze and clarify the meaning of the concept, self efficacy. This study used Walder & Avant's process of concept analysis. Critical attributes of self efficacy were : 1) positive perception of his won capability; 2) intrapersonal strength; 3) possibility of being learned; 4) individuality; 5) specificity; 6) generalizability. Antecedents of self efficacy consist of those facts that 1) new situation occurs; 2) individuals have needs to change the new situation; 3) there are some required actions in new situation. Consequences occurring as a result of self efficacy consist of those facts that 1) individual initiates the of failure; 5) cope with the situation; 6) controls the situation; 7) the level of self efficacy is enhanced; 8) the level of self-esteem is enhanced.

      • UASB 반응기에서 제지폐수 처리를 위한 생물학적 속도론 모델에 관한 연구

        박승조,이성식,전성균,김 광,신미옥,김미양,이영상 東亞大學校 大學院 1993 大學院論文集 Vol.18 No.-

The granulation of sludge in the UASB reactor is beneficial to stable operation of the reactor at a high volumetric COD loading rate and high hydraulic loading rate, because it improves the setting ability of sludge and the granular sludge acquired has high methanogenic activity. The design of integral biogas?/liquid/solids seperators varies among suppliers of UASB technology. Comples, soluble organic compounds are the first to be hydrolyzed (Stage 1) to simple organics. These simple organics are converted by acid-forming bacteria to C₄H?COOH, C₃H?COOH, CH₃COOH, H₂ and CO₂ in a acidogenic phase(STAGE 2). The higher organic acids are subsequently converted to CH₃COOH and H₂(Stag 3) by acetogenic bacteria. The final step(Stage 4) to produce CH₃ is carried out by me-thano-bacterium. The kinetics of anaerobic digestion of paper wastewaters largely depends on the environmental conditions. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the kinetics of methane production from paper was tewaters in the UASB. A four-step reaction mechanism was proposed for modeling methanogenesis of anaerobic treatment of paper waterwaters.

Vol.20 No.2

Background : Serum osteocalcin is synthesized by osteoblast and has been shown to be sensitive indicator of bone turnover inpatients with various metabolic bone disease. In renal osteodystrophy, serum osteocalcin is elevated due to decreased renal clearance and elevated level of PTH. This study was done to evaluate the usefulness of serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism and the correlation with other biochemical markers of bone metabolism. Methods : We measured serum osteocalcin, calcium, phosphorus, ALP(alkaline phosphatase) and PTH(parathyroid hormone) in 37 patients with end stage renal disease on hemodialysis. Osteocalcin was determined by radioimmunoassay and PTH was determined by radioimmunometric assay. Results : 1) The mean level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients was 233.8± 218.2ng/ml which was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.0001). 2) The mean level of serum PTH in ESRD patients was 40.5± 43.8pg/ml was significantly higher than that of controls(p<0.005). 3) There was a significant positive correlation between the level of serum PTH, ALP and the level of serum osteocalcin in ESRD patients. 4) By using multiple regression, PTH is most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalcin ( beta coefficient = 0.687, Sig T<0.05). Conclusion : Serum osteocalcin as a marker of bone metabolism in ESRD patients is more useful than other biochemical marker such as serum calcium, phosphorus, ALP and PTH is a most reliable factor that affect to elevated level of serum osteocalin.

「 이씨음식법 」의 조리에 관한 분석적 고찰

        김성미,이성우 한국식생활문화학회 1990 韓國食生活文化學會誌 Vol.5 No.2

It is not known that when and by whom 'The Lee's UmsikBup' was written. This cookbook is written purely in Korean and has not been published yet. There is another book named 'UmsikBup' in the cookbooks of the Chosun Dynasty and there are many books with similar names. So this book is tentatively named 'The Lee's UmsikBup'. This book comprises fifty three items, among which there are fifteen items of rice alcoholics, three items of Gook-Su (noodles), sixteen items of side dishes, seventeen items of Tuck (rice cakes) and Guaja (kookies), and two items of fruit punch and tea. Three items were illegible because the lines were erased or the letters were not clear. The cereals needed for making rice alcoholics were sixty four percent regular rice and thirty six percent sticky rice. As for the processes, the process using Jee-ae-bop took up fifty five percent. As for side dishes, pheasants, which are seldom used for food these days, were then popular for food. And the entrails of domestic animals were much used for food. Seeing that red pepper paste mixed with vinegar was used for steamed breams (Jim) and that red pepper was used for Yeolgooja Tang, we can estimate that this book was written after red pepper was introduced. Inferring that Chohong Chang (red pepper paste mixed with vinegar and honey) is found Jinchan Ye Que, we can estimate this book was written in the late 1800's. The cereals used for making rice cakes were ninety two percent sticky rice and eight percent regular rice. Sticky rice was much more used and pepper was used for making Tuck (rice cakes) as Hun Chal Byung, So Ham Byung and Dootum Tuck. The analysis of the terms used in this book revealed that 117 items were used for cooking processes. And it also showed us that there were six kinds of cutting and thirteen kinds of heating procedure. The shapes and sizes of foods were revealed on the basis of real things. The measuring units are hard to revive since the measurements were taken by the container then in use. Thirty four kinds of containers and cookers, twenty more of which are now in use, were used for preparing foods. The use of 'twigs stretched for the east' had no scientific base but said something of Korean folkways at that time.

「 주방 」의 조리가공에 관한 분석적 고찰

        김성미,이성우 한국식생활문화학회 1990 韓國食生活文化學會誌 Vol.5 No.4

'The Joobnag' is a cooking book written purely in Korean which came from a Mr. Lee. It is unknown when and by whom this book was written, but it is inferred from red pepper mentioned in this book and from Korean-writting type that the book was written around in the mid-nineteenth century. The contents of 'the Joobang' consist of thirty seven items in all : sixteen items of rice alcoholics, five side dishes, eleven Tucks(rice cakes) and Guaja(cookies) and five processed materials. Cereals for making rice alcoholics were regular rice and sticky rice. In the first brew, rice alcoholics is made all from regular rice, and in the second brew, fifty six percent of regular rice and forty four percent of sticky rice was made use of. For five items of alcoholics forming 31.3% of alcoholics, flour was added, in which case the proportion of leaven to cereals was lower. There were four types of processing cereals in brewing rice alcoholics Jee-ae-bop(steamed rice, 60.9%), thick gruel with cereals ground and completely cooked(8.7%), thick gruel with cereals ground and half cooked (26.1%) and GooMung Tuck(doughnut-shaped rice cake, 4.3%). The comparison of the materials for brewing rice alcoholics and of the types of processing cereals presented in the seven cooking books purely in Korean(Umsik Deemeebang, JoobangMoon, Umsikbo, Sool-mandununbop, Kyuhap chongseo. The Kims' Joobangmoon and The Lee's Umsikbup) showed us the following facts ; Yihwajoo (rice alcoholics brewed around the blooming time of pear trees) and Kwahajoo(rice alcoholics which passed the summed time) were most often introduced and commonest, and the materials for brewing and the types of processing little changed over times. The materials for side dishes were all animal food, and vegetable food was little used for side dishes. Red pepper was used for seasoning. It is a problem of Korean traditional cooking that there were no units of measuring for side dishes. The main materials for Tuck(rice cakes) and Guaja(cookies) were sticky rice, regular rice and honey. There was a variety of terms for the process, from which we can see that the procedures of making Tuck(rice cakes) and Guaja(cookies) were very complicate. Processed materials were chiefly made of sticky rice and the material of firewood(oak trees) and the strength of fire(fire burning vigorously and fire turning to ashes) were described.
