Diabetes Mellitus and Prostate Cancer Risk in Asian Countries: a Meta-analysis

Background/Aims: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is widely considered to be associated with risk of cancer, but studies investigating the association between DM and prostate cancer in Asian countries have reported inconsistent findings. We examined this association by conducting a detailed meta-analysis of studies published on the subject. Methods: Cohort or case-control studies were identified by searching Pubmed, Embase and Wanfang databases through May 30, 2012. Pooled relative risk (RR) with its corresponding 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated using the random-effects model. Subgroup analyses were performed by the study type. Results: Finally, we identified 7 studies (four cohort studies and three case-control studies) with a total of 1,751,274 subjects from Asians. DM was associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in Asians (unadjusted RR= 2.82, 95% CI 1.73.4.58, P < 0.001; adjusted RR= 1.31, 95% CI 1.12.1.54, P = 0.001). Subgroup analyses by study design further confirmed an obvious association. Conclusion: Findings from this meta-analysis strongly support that diabetes is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in Asians.

Epoxy ternary systems were prepared from the diglycidylether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA), epoxidized castor oil (ECO), and nano-CaCO3 using a thermally latent initiator. The effects of ECO and the nano-CaCO3 contents on the thermal stability and mechanical interfacial properties of the prepared DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems were examined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Izod impact tests, and mechanical tests. The morphology of the ternary systems was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The statistic heat-resistant index temperature (Ts) of the ternary systems was approximately constant up to 30 wt% ECO, and thereafter decreased with increasing ECO content. The impact strength of the ternary systems was improved by the addition of ECO and nano-CaCO3. The flexural strength of the ternary systems exhibited a maximum value at 20 wt% ECO. SEM showed that shear deformation occurred, which prevented the propagation of cracks in the DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems.
Generalized Multicommodity Distribution System Design

This paper generalizes the classic two-stage multicommodity distribution system design problem to the one that includes plant locations as well as distribution center locations. Accommodating plant location leads to subproblems which are mixed integer Hence, no LP-type duals of the subproblems are available, and therefore standard Benders decomposition no longer applies. We develop new solution method which combines an integer L-shaped method with Benders decomposition to suit the purpose, and present the test results.
Clinical analysis and review of literature on pilomatrixoma in pediatric patients

Background: Pilomatrixoma is a benign tumor that originates from the hair follicle matrix. It usually presents as a hard, slow growing, solitary mass that can be easily misdiagnosed as other skin masses. The aim of this study was to clinically analyze a case series of pilomatrixoma in pediatric patients from Korea. Methods: A total of 165 pediatric patients from 2011 to 2018 with a histological diagnosis of pilomatrixoma were included. A retrospective review was performed using the electronic medical records, including patient demographics, number and location of the mass, clinical and imaging presentation, and postoperative outcomes. Results: There were 61 male and 104 female patients with 152 solitary and 13 multiple pilomatrixomas. Among solitary pilomatrixomas, the lesion commonly occurred in the head and neck (84.2%), followed by upper limbs (11.2%), lower limbs (3.3%), and trunk (1.3%). The pilomatrixoma lesion presented as the following types based on our clinical classification: mass (56.02%), pigmentation (25.31%), mixed (12.65%), ulceration (4.82%), and keloid-like (1.2%). Ultrasonography showed a high positive predictive value (95.56%). There were no specific complications observed except for two cases of recurrence. Conclusion: Pilomatrixoma has various clinical feature presentations and commonly occurs in the head and neck. Ultrasonography is a helpful diagnostic tool. Surgical removal of the lesion is the main treatment method with a low recurrence rate.

<P>We have observed the precipitation of a fluorescent dye in a microfluidic 3D hydrodynamic mixing set up. In addition to the short fluorescence lifetime of the DBDCS molecule and to the long lifetime of its crystal, nuclei with an intermediate lifetime are observed. We show that the precipitation is slowed down by the presence of a viscous skin at the interface between water and THF. From the analysis of the decays, we map the concentration of the three species over half a million pixels and show that nucleation and growth occur all along the device by a slow diffusion of the water into the THF inner flow.</P>
중국과 한국의 K-POP 방송영상의 카메라 워크 스펙트럼 분석 패턴 비교 연구

한류 콘텐츠 제작자들의 창의성과 문화, 예술 감성에 따른 보다 다양한 형태의 연출 방식이 새롭고 다채로운 영상 제작에 영향을 미치고 있다. 그러나 한류의 양적 콘텐츠 확장에 비하여 한류의 질적 영향에 대한 연구 요인들을 선행연구에서 찾아보기 어렵고 특히 구체적으로 한류 콘텐츠를 비교하여 분석한 사례가 부족한 것으로 판단되었다. 이에 본 연구는 한국과 중국의 같은 규모, 대표적인 콘서트 영상을 비교하고 분석하고자 한다. SBS 가요대전과 Hunan TV의 New Year Concert 콘서트 영상에서 K-POP 아이돌 그룹의 영상을 분석하여 비교하고 그 차이점과 공통점을 살펴보고자 한다. 영상의 분석 방법으로는 인물의 비율을 기준으로 하는 여덟 가지 쇼트와 카메라의 움직임에 따른 일곱 가지 카메라 워크의 방법을 통해서 비교하고자 한다. 네 가지 사례의 영상을 쇼트와 카메라 워크에 따라 구분하고 백분율로 나타냈다. 쇼트와 카메라 워크를 색상으로 표현하여 영상의 순차적 시간에 따라 색상패턴으로 분석하여 나타냈다. 분석 내용에 의하면 한국콘서트 영상은 쇼트의 스위치 빈도가 빠르지 않고 크레인으로 촬영한 롱 쇼트를 다수 사용하였다. 그리고 쇼트의 크기는 풀 쇼트와 롱 풀 쇼트 등의 전체 장면을 보여주는 스타일을 선택하였다. 반면에 중국은 쇼트의 스위치 빈도가 복잡한 것으로 나타났다. 그 결과 영상을 봤을 때 시청자에게 혼란스럽게 보일 수 있었다. 또한 쇼트의 크기는 풀 쇼트와 웨스트 쇼트를 많이 사용하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 한국의 영상에 비하여 클로즈업 쇼트가 다수 부족하여 피사체의 세부 표현이 상대적으로 부족하다고 판단되었다. 이와 같은 연구를 통해서 한국과 중국의 콘서트 영상의 제작과 촬영에 관한 방식에 도움이 되고자하며 향후 콘서트 영상 제작의 방향에 대해 논의해 볼 수 있을 것이다. 또한 본 연구에서 사용된 패턴 분석 방식의 지속적인 연구를 통하여 영상의 미래 편집 방식을 예측하고 콘서트 영상의 새로운 기법에 도움이 되기를 바란다. There is more diverse aspect of direction according to the Korean Wave contents manufacturer"s creativity, culture, and art emotion and it has an effect on the new and varied program productions. However, it is hard to find the preceding researches about the qualitative effect on Korean Wave compared to the quantitative contents expansion of Korean Wave. Especially, there are lack of examples on detailed Korean wave contents of comparison and analysis. Therefore, our research tries to compare and analyze the same size and representative concert video of both Korean and China. We analyze and compare video of K-POP idol groups between SBS Awards Festival and Hunan TV"s New Year Concert and want to find the differences and comparabilities. On the methods of video analysis, we set the 8 shots of figure"s ratio and 7 camera works of camera movements. We present 4 examples of videos analyzed by shots and camera works and convert into a percentage. In order to express diversities of the shots and camera works in time order, we present the video as color patterns of them. On that results, we find that Korean video shows not to quick switch on shots and uses many long shots by cranes. Also it has full shots and long full shots to show the whole scenes. Otherwise, Chinese video presents complex shots of switches. As a result, if the audience watch the video, they can fall into confusion. And it uses full shots and waist shots a lot. Compared to Korean contents, China video has a lack of closeup shot, therefore it is considered relatively insufficient figure"s details. Throughout our research, we try to help the way of production and shooting on Korea and China concert video and discuss future plans. Also, through continuous researches on the color patterns analysis of video, we expect the future concert video editing style and help to acquire the new technique.
