• Research on User Clustering Collaborative Filtering Algorithm

Lihua Tian,Liguo Han,Junhua Yue 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.4

Memory-based CF algorithms have the weakness of low real-time ability and scalability. For these issues, a SVD-based K-means clustering CF algorithm is proposed. Traditional clustering-based CF algorithms have low recommendation precision because of data sparsity. So we first fill the missing ratings by SVD prediction, and then implement k-means clustering in the filled matix. This algorithm overcomse the data sparsity issue via SVD and keep the advantage of clustering, such as good real-time ability and scalability. Experiments results show that this algorithm outperforms Pearson CF, svd CF and k-means CF.

      • Dynamic Gesture Recognition based on Image Sequence

        Lihua Tian,Liguo Han,Xiujuan Gu 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.12

This paper proposed an algorithm for 3D hands tracking on the learned hierarchical latent variable space, which employs a Hierarchical Gaussian Process Latent Variable Model(HGPLVM) to learn the hierarchical latent space of hands motion and the nonlinear mapping from the hierarchical latent space to the pose space simultaneously. Nonlinear mappings from the hierarchical latent space to the space of hand images are constructed using radial basis function interpolation method. With these mappings, particles can be projected into hand images and measured in the image space directly. Particle filters with fewer particles are used to track the hand on the learned hierarchical low-dimensional space. Then the Hierarchical Conditional Random Field, which can capture extrinsic class dynamics and learn the relationship between motions of hand parts and different hand gestures simultaneously, is presented to model the continuous hand gestures. Experimental results show that our proposed method can track articulated hand robustly and approving recognition performance has also been achieved on the user-defined hand gesture dataset.

      • Effect of Micronutrient Supplementation on the Growth of Preschool Children in China

        Han, Junhua,Yang, Yuexin,Shao, Xiaoping,He, Mei,Bian, Lihua,Wang, Zhu The Korean Nutrition Society 2002 Nutritional Sciences Vol.5 No.3

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of micronutrient supplementation on the growth of preschool children in China. A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted on 156 growth retarded preschool children who were randomly assigned to the following five groups : supplemental control (S-control; n=28); zinc supplementation (+Zn; 3.5mg Zn/day, n=34); zinc and calcium supplementation (+ZnCa; 3.5mg Zn + 250mg Ca/day, n=37); zinc, calcium and vitamin A supplementation (+ZnCaVA; 3.5mgZn + 250mgCa + 200gVA/day, n=28); and calcium and vitamin A supplementation (+CaVA; 250mgCa + 200gVA/day, n=29). Another 34 children of normal height were selected as a normal control (N-control). Supplementation continued for twelve months. After supplementation, the height gains in the +Zn group (7.84cm per year) and the +ZnCa group (7.70 cm per year) were significantly higher than that in the S-control group (6.74 cm per year, P<0.05). The weight gain in the +ZnCaVA group (2.55kg per year) and the +CaVA group (2.57 kg per year) was also significantly higher than that in the S-control group (2.19 kg per year, P<0.05). The average number of days of illness in each group taking supplements was lower than that in the S-control group (13 days per year compared with 23 days per year). No significant differences in bone maturity were observed between the groups. In conclusion, in this study Zinc and Zinc + Calcium supplementation improved the height gain, and vitamin A improved the weight gain, in growth retarded preschool children, but these supplements did not affect the maturity of bone. Micronutrient supplementation also lowered the morbidity of these children.

      • Research on Image Segmentation based on Clustering Algorithm

Lihua Tian,Liguo Han,Junhua Yue 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.2

Hierarchical clustering (HC) algorithm can obtain good clustering results, but it needs large storage and computational complexity for large image processing. Anew color image segmentation algorithm based on mean shift and hierarchical clustering algorithm named MSHC is presented in this paper. MSHC algorithm preprocesses an input image by MS algorithm to form segmented regions that preserve the desirable discontinuity characteristics of image. The number of segmented regions, instead of the number of image pixels, is considered as the input data scale of HC algorithm. The proximity between each cluster is calculated to form the proximity matrix, and then ward algorithm is employed to obtain the final segmentation results. MSHC algorithm is employed on color image and medical image segmentation.

Numerical Simulation of Seismic Waves with Peak Arrival Time and Amplitude-Frequency Correlation

        Xu Han,Zhitao Wang,Ling-yun Peng,Jingyu Su,Lihua Wang 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.10

To improve the accuracy with which the non-stationary intensity characteristics of artificial acceleration-time-history curves are determined, a method of adjusting the frequency correlation between the artificial peak arrival time and amplitude spectrum is proposed. A calculation method for determining the peak arrival time to reflect the physical meaning of the phase-differenc espectrum was first deduced. Subsequently, the amplitude-distribution characteristics corresponding to the peak arrival times for different durations of natural earthquakes were analyzed. In accordance with the distribution characteristics of the reference amplitude, the frequency distribution of the artificial peak arrival time was divided into four parts: the beginning, strong-earthquake, attenuation, and tail sections. By adjusting the arrival frequency of peak points for the different earthquake durations considered, the corresponding relationship between the artificial peak arrival time and amplitude spectrum was determined to be more consistent with the general law of natural earthquakes. The sample calculation described in this paper demonstrates that adjusting the frequency correspondence between the artificial peak arrival time and amplitude spectrum greatly improves the accuracy of the non-stationary intensity characteristics of artificial acceleration-time-history curves.

      • Crustal structure of the Gunsan Basin in the SE Yellow Sea from ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) data and its linkage to the South China Block

        Kim, Han-Joon,Kim, Chung-Ho,Hao, Tianyao,Liu, Lihua,Kim, Kwang-Hee,Jun, Hyunggu,Jou, Hyeong-Tae,Moon, Sunghoon,Xu, Ya,Wu, Zhiqiang,Lu, Chuanchuan,Lee, Sang Hoon Elsevier 2019 Journal of Asian earth sciences Vol.180 No.-

Abstract

Two major tectonic units in NE Asia are the Sino-Korean (or North China) and South China Blocks that collided in the Permo-Triassic periods. The South China Block is suggested to extend eastward to the Korean Peninsula across the southern Yellow Sea. The Gunsan Basin is a well-defined, fault-bounded sedimentary basin in the SE Yellow Sea and is regarded as a structural link of the South China Block to the Korean Peninsula. We collected deep seismic sounding data recorded on ocean bottom seismometers to investigate how the crustal structure and nature of the South China Block vary in the Gunsan Basin toward the middle part of the Korean Peninsula. The main part of the Gunsan Basin is underlain by relatively thin (∼10 km thick) upper and much thicker (∼20 km thick) lower crustal layers, indicating a close affinity to the South China Block; whereas it shows distinction from the Korean Peninsula underlain by upper and lower crustal layers with equal (∼15 km) thickness. A change in crustal structure is recognized under the eastern margin of the Gunsan Basin toward the Korean Peninsula, that features a transition to the Korean Peninsula. The thick lower crustal layer in the Gunsan Basin appears to be inherited from the evolution of the South China Block including crustal shortening associated with the assembly of Rodinia in the Neoproterozoic before the collision between the Sino-Korean and South China Blocks.

Highlights

We image how the crustal stucture nature vary in the SE Yellow Sea.

The Gunsan Basin is underlain by relatively thin upper and much thick lower crustal layers.

A transition in crustal structure is recognized from the South China Block to the Korean Peninsula.

The crustal structure is inherited from the growth of Rodinia.

Graphical abstract

[DISPLAY OMISSION]

Intestinal segment and vitamin D3 concentration affect gene expression levels of calcium and phosphorus transporters in broiler chickens

        Jincheng Han,Lihua Wu,Xianliang Lv,Mengyuan Liu,Yan Zhang,Lei He,Junfang Hao,Li Xi,Hongxia Qu,Chuanxin Shi,Zhiqiang Li,Zhixiang Wang,Fei Tang,Yingying Qiao 한국축산학회 2023 한국축산학회지 Vol.65 No.2

Two experiments were conducted in this research. Experiment 1 investigated the spatial expression characteristics of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) transporters in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of 21-day-old broilers provided with adequate nutrient feed. Experiment 2 evaluated the effects of dietary vitamin D3 (VD3) concentration (0, 125, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 IU/kg) on growth performance, bone development, and gene expression levels of intestinal Ca and P transporters in 1–21-day-old broilers provided with the negative control diet without supplemental VD3. Results in experiment 1 showed that the mRNA levels of calcium- binding protein 28-kDa (CaBP-D28k), sodium-calcium exchanger 1 (NCX1), plasma membrane calcium ATPase 1b (PMCA1b), and IIb sodium-phosphate cotransporter (NaPi-IIb) were the highest in the broiler duodenum. By contrast, the mRNA levels of inorganic phosphate transporter 1 (PiT-1) and 2 (PiT-2) were the highest in the ileum. Results in experiment 2 showed that adding 125 IU/kg VD3 increased body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), bone weight, and percentage and weight of Ca and P in the tibia and femur of 1–21-day-old broilers compared with the negative control diet (p < 0.05). The rise in dietary VD3 levels from 125 to 1,000 IU/kg further increased the BWG, FI, and weights of the bone, ash, Ca, and P (p < 0.05). No difference in growth rate and leg bone quality was noted in the broilers provided with 1,000 and 2,000 IU/kg VD3 (p > 0.05). Supplementation with 125–2,000 IU/kg VD3 increased the mRNA abundances of intestinal Ca and P transporters to varying degrees. The mRNA level of CaBP-D28k increased by 536, 1,161, and 28 folds in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, respectively, after adding 1,000 IU/kg VD3. The mRNA levels of other Ca and P transporters (PMCA1b, NCX1, NaPi-IIb, PiT-1, and PiT-2) increased by 0.57–1.74 folds by adding 1,000–2,000 IU/kg VD3. These data suggest that intestinal Ca and P transporters are mainly expressed in the duodenum of broilers. Moreover, the addition of VD3 stimulates the two mineral transporter transcription in broiler intestines.

      • SIRT1 activation ameliorates inflammation in the outer root sheath cells of hair follicles

        ( Jin Park ),( Lihua Hao ),( Eui-sung Jung ),( Seok-kweon Yun ),( Han-uk Kim ),( Young Lee ),( Chang-deok Kim ),( Byung-hyun Park ) 대한피부과학회 2018 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.70 No.2

Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is T-cell-mediated autoimmune disease. Type III histone deacetylase silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) is kown to be involved in several autoimmune inflammatory disease including psoriasis, vitiligo. However, little is known about SIRT1 activation in AA. Objectives: We investigated the role of SIRT1 activation in the outer root sheath (ORS) cells of hair follicles. Methods: Sirt1 expression of scalp tissue of 23 AA patients was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and western blot analysis. Cultured human ORS were pretreated with Sirt1 activator and inhibitor, and then stimulated with polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (poly(I:C)). Results: SIRT1 level was significantly decreased in AA patients than in healthy controls. The activation of inflammatory chemokines (CXCL3, CXCL9, CXCL10) and cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IFN-γ) were downregulated by pharmacologic activation of SIRT1, while SIRT1 inhibitors upregulated poly(I:C) induced cytokine and chemokine production. Mechanistically, this poly(I:C) induced inflammation by SIRT1 inhibition was associated with activation of NF-κB signaling pathway in ORS cells. Finally, we found that T cell migrations study using chemoattractant-conditioned media also downregulated by SIRT1 activation. Conclusion: SIRT1 plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of AA and can be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of AA.

Sialoglycoprotein from Gadous morhua eggs improve high bone turnover activity via down-regulating BMP-2/Smads and Wnt/b-catenin signal pathways

        Kai Wang,Lihua Han,Na Wang,Yiming Wang,Jingfeng Wang 한국식품과학회 2018 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.27 No.5

The effect of sialoglycoprotein isolated from Gadous morhua eggs (Gm-SGP) on ovariectomized (OVX) induced osteoporosis, which is characterized by high bone turnover activity was investigated. Results revealed that Gm-SGP significantly increased bone mineral density, enhanced bone biomechanical properties and repaired the microstructure of the trabecular bone. Also, the treatment with Gm-SGP remarkably decreased biochemical marker contents or activities, such as serum BALP, PICP, BMP-2, TrACP, Cath-K, urine Ca and P, leading to the reduction in bone turnover. The elevation in the rate of bone formative process contributed in the increase of bone turnover. Both BMP-2/Smads and Wnt/b-catenin signaling pathways played an important role in osteogenesis. Gm-SGP suppressed the key factors expression in these two pathways such as BMP-2, Smad1, Smad4, Lrp-5b, Runx2, Osx, ALP, Col1, OCN and b-catenin. These findings might provide some theoretical basis for the application of Gm-SGP as a potential anti-osteoporotic drug or as functional food.
