        The Effect of Family Structure on Female Labor Participation – Empirical Analysis based on the 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study

        Using 2011 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study baseline data, this paper examines the effects of family structure on labor force participation. In consideration of the possible endogeneity provoked by family structure, we constructed regression models with instrument variables. Intergenerational co-residence significantly decreases women’s labor force participation by 14%, while it has no effect on men’s labor supply. One potential reason for this result is residential circumstance. As it is custom to live with elderly parents in multi-generation families in China, adult women often share the burden of all housework and are responsible for elderly care; thus, cohabiting with parents seems to have negative effects on female labor participation. On the contrary, Chinese culture dictates that men do not spend as much time as women on housework, thus, the probability of working in the labor market is not influenced by residential circumstance. If women were freed from housework responsibilities, the implication is that their participation in the labor force would increase

Shoppers take a negative view toward seller manipulations, but the degree of negativity varies across different tactics. Moreover, different manipulations tactics vary in the ease of detection, perceived unethicality, and the effect on consumer perceptions.

        Knowledge, Behaviors and Prevalence of Reproductive Tract Infections: A Descriptive Study on Rural Women in Hunchun, China

        Purpose The aim of the study was to assess the prevalence, knowledge and behavior about reproductive tract infections (RTIs) among rural Chinese women in Hunchun, China. Methods The study employed a cross-sectional research design with a convenience sample of 190 participants who had received microfinancing. Data were collected by trained research staff, utilizing face to face interviews and physical examinations. Results About 1 in 5 participants (20.3%) had had more than 5 pregnancies and 26.7% had had 3 or more abortions. More than half (57.3%) of study participants had an RTI at the time of examination, and 92.3% reported having had at least one RTI symptom. Nearly half (49.6%) of the women who exhibited RTI symptoms reported no utilization of any healthcare services. Age, number of pregnancies, RTI knowledge,and behavior were found to be significant correlates in the sample. Conclusions The prevalence of RTI among low-income rural Chinese women were extremely high, indicating the urgent need for effective and culturally sensitive health education, particularly targeted to the poor rural population.

        Nitrogen removal and nitrogenous intermediate production of the heterotrophic membrane-aerated biofilm: A mathematical modeling investigation

        A one-dimensional biofilm model was applied to illustrate the nitrogen conversion and removal within the heterogeneous biofilm attached on the gas-permeable membrane with different oxygen transfer coefficients: 7.5m/d, 1.5m/d and 0.3m/d. Integrating the ammonia-oxidizing bacteria-mediating hydroxylamine oxidization pathway during the autotrophic nitrification and the four-step denitrification pathway during the heterotrophic denitrification, the effects of the intra-membrane aeration pressure and the influent COD/N ratio were further quantitatively evaluated on the systematic performance of nitrogen conversion. Dynamic profiles of key nitrogenous intermediates were investigated to further analyze the treatment efficacy of the targeted biofilm system. It is inapplicable for membrane with oxygen transfer coefficient of 0.3m/d to sustain the biofilm due to the inferior treatment performance under higher influent organics and distinct nitrous oxide (N2O) production with elevated aeration pressures under lower influent organics. For the oxygen transfer coefficients of 7.5m/d and 1.5m/d, N2O production was detectable for the insufficient carbon source, indicating the significance of hydroxylamine oxidization. Short-cut nitrogen removal pathway could be feasible within the latter biofilm due to the nitrite accumulation, further reduced by supplementing the carbon source. Heterotrophic denitrification would contribute to the N2O production. Maintaining the biofilm thickness was conducive to short-cut nitrogen removal by regulating the substrate transfer and the biomass distribution along the biofilm. Besides the total nitrogen removal efficiency, the nitrite accumulation and N2O production were both decreased with the thickening biofilm. Inside the thinner biofilm, a short-cut pathway via nitrite might be the major pathway for nitrogen removal with distinguished N2O production, which could be mitigated through supplementing the carbon source.

        훈춘지역 물류경쟁력 발전방안 연구

        훈춘지역은 지린성의 대외 개방 문호 및 창-지-투 지역의 유일한 개발개방선도구로 지역 물류의 발전에 중요한 거점 지역으로써 훈춘지역의 물류경쟁력을 촉진시키는 것은 동북지역 경제발전을 촉진시키는 데는 중요한 요인이라고 할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 SWOT분석을 적용하여 훈춘지역의 물류경쟁력 활성화 요인을 도출하고, 중국과 한국물류전문가를 대상으로 AHP 설문조사를 통해 훈춘지역 물류경쟁력 활성화 요인의 우선순위를 도출함으로써 정책결정자에게 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 분석결과, 기회요인, 강점요인 순으로 가중치가 높게 나타났으며, 일대일로 정책 촉진 및 확대, 국가정책을 통한 적극적 지원, 국제물류센터도시의 건설, 물류중심지 건설, 대량화물 공급지 등의 요인 순으로 우선순위가 높게 제시되었다. 마지막으로, 종합적 관점에서 본 연구는 훈춘지역의 물류경쟁력 강화전략을 위해 훈춘지역이 가진 강점을 중심으로 한 SO전략(강점-기회전략)과 ST전략(강점-위협전략) 등 정책적 시사점을 제시하였다. The Hunchun area is the only development and opening line in Jilin Province and the Changchun-Jilin-Tumen Developmental Plan area, and as a hub area for regional logistics, promoting the logistics competitiveness of the Hunchun area is an important factor in promoting economic development in the Northeast region. The purpose of this study is to derive the factors for activating logistics competitiveness in Hunchun area by applying SWOT analysis and to present them to policy-makers by drawing priority of factors for promoting logistics competitiveness in Hunchun area through AHP survey of Chinese and Korean logistics experts. According to the analysis, the weighting was high in order of opportunity factors and strength factors, and the priority was high in order of factors such as promotion and expansion of One Belt, One Road policies, active support through national policies, construction of international logistics center cities, construction of logistics centers, and supply of bulk cargo. Finally, from a comprehensive perspective, this study presented policy implications such as SO Strategy (Strength-Occupancy Strategy) and ST Strategy (Strength-War Strategy) focusing on the strengths of the Hunchun Region for the strategy of strengthening the logistics competitiveness of the Hunchun area.

        Transcriptionally and Phylogenetically Analyzing the P Protein Gene of Glycine Decarboxylase for Understanding the Evolution of C_3-C_4 Species in Brassicaceae

        Lacking P protein of glycine decarboxylase (GDCP) from the mesophyll cells was one of the major steps for C_3species to evolve into C_3-C_4 species. Previous studies indicated that the lack of P protein in the mesophyll cells of C_3-C_4species of Flaveria is regulated by gene different transcription. In the family of Brassicaceae, most plants show a typical C_3photosynthetic characteristic, which includes some important vegetables and oil crops, while few plants in this family exhibit a C_3-C_4 type of character. To understand the mechanism of difference in distribution of P protein between the 2 different photosynthetic types, a C_3 type of 1.6 kb BnGDCP promoter from Brassica napus was used for detailed analysis in this study. This promoter exhibited the ability to drive beta-glucuronidase gene (GUS) expression in both mesophyll and the bundle sheath cells of C_3 species, Arabidopsis. However, the same promoter was also found to drive GUS expression in both the mesophyll and bundle sheath cells of a typical of C_3-C_4 species such as Moricandia arvensis, which loses the P protein from the mesophyll cells. This implies that in absence of P protein from the mesophyll cells of Moricandia (C_3-C_4 species) may be regulated by differential transcription of the P protein gene as well. And then, a region, which determines a mesophyll cells specific expression, was narrowed down to 135 bp in length through detailed promoter/reporter gene assay. DNA sequences alignment of the 5′-flanking sequences from either a C3 or C_3-C_4 species in Brassicaceae indicated that 2 different nucleotide acids only conserved to C_3 species were revealed. Phylogenetic analysis of those 5′-flanking sequences of GDCP indicated that C_3-C_4 species in the genus of Moricandia might have been evolved from different C_3 ancestors; interestingly, a C_3-C_4species, D. tenuifolia, was indicated to have shared common ancestors with the C_3-C_4 species, M. spinosa, and the C_3 species M. foleyii in Moricandia.

        corporate coaching brought profound influence on numberiess individuals and organizations since it was introduced into Chinese in 1995, this paper focus on the validity of corporate coaching in China based on the outcome of 2000 questionnaires which come from all of 31 provinces of China and more than 18 industries; nearly 90 percents of the coaching clients undertake the responsibility for managerial effect; 73.6 percents of the coaching clients" age distribution lie in 26-40 years old. The data told us that the clients" personal ability, the relationship with others, and organizational performance can get improvement in different ways. We also found that Chinese traditional excellent culture and managerial intelligences can provide abundant nourishment for the long-term healthy development of corporate coaching in China.

        Synergistic Effect of PVA Fiber and PTB Emulsion on Mechanical Properties of Cementitious Composites for Damage Repair in Operating Tunnels

        Operating tunnels are often located in complex geological conditions and are prone to various types of damage. Even after structural repair, the repaired material may be vulnerable to secondary damage. It is difficult to effectively repair operating tunnel damage. Hence, developing high-performance repair materials for tunnel structures is critical. This study aimed to develop repair materials by studying the synergistic effects of fiber and polymers. The effectof polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber and PTB (COMPAKTUNA.PRO) emulsion on the compressive strength (40 × 40 × 40 mm, GB/T 17671-2020), flexural strength (40 × 40 × 160 mm, GB/T 17671-2020), uniaxial tensile properties (330 × 60 × 13 mm, JC/T 2461-2018), bond strength (40 × 40 × 160 mm, JC/T 2537-2019), rapid chloride migration coefficient (ϕ100 × 50 mm, GB/T 50082-2009), porosity (40 × 40 × 40 mm, SY/T 6490-2014), and scanning electron microscopy (less than 1 cm3, GB/T 27788-2020) was analysed. The test was completed in the laboratory of our school, and the average value of three specimens per mix ratio was taken. The results indicate that both PVA fiber and PTB emulsion addition reduce the compressive strength but significantly increase the flexural strength, tensile strength, and ultimate tensile strain of cementitious composite. The compressive-to-flexural strength ratio decreases, and the uniaxial compression toughness index increases. The cementitious composites exhibit good integrity after damage. The influence of the PVA fiber is more potent than that of the PTB emulsion. The PTB emulsion increases the impermeability and bonding strength of the cementitious composite and can improve the disadvantages caused by adding the PVA fibers. The bridging effect of the PVA fiber and the membrane-forming effect of the PTB emulsion together influence the performance and cause a synergistic effect to achieve superposition and complementation of advantages. The optimal content of the PVA fiber and PTB emulsion under the synergistic effect can be obtained. The findings can provide a theoretical basis for the optimal design and practical application of restoration materials.

        Genetic Diversity of Brassica Species Revealed by Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism and Simple Sequence Repeat Markers

        Amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) and simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers were employed for assessing the genetic diversity of 21 Brassica cultivars including three oilseed species, B. rapa, B. carinata, and B. napus. Nineteen AFLP primer pairs generated an average of 83.05 with 78.95 polymorphic bands (95.05% of polymorphism) and 19 SSR primer pairs produced an average of 11.16 allelic products with 10.74 polymorphic products (91.50% of polymorphism). The dendrogram showed that the three species can be clearly distinguished and every two B. rapa cultivars was with the most abundant genetic diversity. The similarity matrixes detected by two-way Mantel test showed that the matrix correlation between the data from 19 AFLP and 19 SSR primer pairs showed a good fit, which revealed that the AFLP and SSR markers were all good for assessing the genetic diversity of Brassica species. However, the AFLP markers had slightly higher resolution of genetic similarities than the SSR markers.
