      • 한국전통 약초정원 설계에 관한 연구 -제8회 산청군 한방약초축제 설계를 중심으로-

        본 연구는 동의보감을 비롯한 각종 한의학과 약용식물에 대한 논문 및 저술에 대한 문헌고찰을 토대로 제 8회 산청군 한방약초축제 주제관의 실시설계를 중심으로 약용식물을 이용한 한국전통의 약초정원 설계에 대한 설계사례 제공 및 기초자료로 활용하고자 수행하였다. 본 연구의 공간적 범위는 경상남도 산청군 산청읍 병정리의 산청체육관 및 경호강 일원에 위치한 제 8회 산청군 한방 약초축제 전시공간 중 주제관이며, 연구기간은 2008년 4월 22일부터 2008년 6월 l0일까지 수행되었다. 연구의 진행과정은 현황분석, 계획, 설계, 시공의 순으로 진행되었다. 설계에 사용된 프로그램으로 Auto CAD 2004 프로그램을 이용하여 공간별 평면도와 단면도를 작성하였고, 3DS Max 7 프로그램을 이용하여 입면도를 작성하였으며, Photoshop CS 프로그램을 이용하여 이미지 보정작업을 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 현황분석 결과로써 주제관의 면적은 l,500m2였으며, 천장고는 양쪽 가장자리 텐트기둥의 높이는 4m, 중 앙기둥부분은 7m로 흰색 텐트구조로 설치되었다. 설계개념은 한방약초 축제라는 이미지를 연출하기 위해 한방과 관련된 식물소재와 산청군의 지역적 특산물 등을 포함하여 약초정원 및 전시공간으로 구성하되, 전체적인 분위기는 테마공간으로 연출하였다. 즉, 2001년부터 2007년까지 시행된 l회부터 7회까지의 한방약초축제는 분화형태의 한방약초 및 산청군의 특산물을 보여주는 전시 위주의 공간분위기를 연출해 왔다. 그러나 본 설계는 테마를 적용하여 전쳬적인 분위기를 통일감 있게 연출하였고, 한약제를 직접 만져보거나 약차를 시음하거나 약탕기 모양의 벽천을 통과하는 형태, 페이스페인팅을 하고 포토죤에 가서 기념사진을 촬영할 수 있는 공간 등을 두어 적극적인 체험이 이루어질 수 있도록 하였다. 도입식물들은 東醫寶鑑 및 한의학 관련의서, 약용식물도감에 수록된 약용식물과 산청군의 약초재배농가의 약용식물을 중심으로 도입하였다. 본 설계는 한의학과 조경을 접목하는 약용식물을 주소재로 약초정원의 경관연출에 대한 기초자료를 제시하는 설계형 논문으로 의미가 있다고 생각된다. As the increasing concern for the health, the concern for the oriental medicine, and medical herb has been increased by the modern person. Sancheong-gun has held annually the oriental medical herb festival from 2001. The 8th Sancheong-gun Oriental Medical Herb Festival has the theme, "Clean Sancheng Taking the Sky, and Medical Herb Festival Taking the Health". This study was progressed by the request of Sancheong-gun Oriental Medical Business Group, and the design and construction of Theme Center of Sancheong-gun Oriental Medical Herb Festival were progressed together. The spatial range of this study was Sancheon Gymnasium which was located at Byeongjeong-ri Sancheong-eub Sancheong-gun Gyeongsangnam-do, and the Theme Center of the 8th Sancheong-gun Oriental Medical Herb Festival which was located around Gyeongho River. The period of study was from April 22, 2008 to June 10, 2008. The practical exposition period of the Oriental Medical Herb Festival was from May 2, 2008 to May 9, 2008. The process of this study was the analysis of present condition, planning, design, and construction. As the computer program for the design, Auto CAD 2004 program was used for the spatial ground plan and the cross-sectional view, and the elevation was prepared by 3DS Max 7 program, and the image correction work was performed by Photoshop CS program. The result of this study is the following. As the analysis of present condition, the size of theme center was 1,500m2, and the height of the pole of tent both sides was 4m, and central pole was 7m. The center was constructed by the white tent. The concept of the design included the plant materials and local speciality in Sancheong-gun related to the oriental medicine to present the image of oriental medical herb festival, and had the medical herb garden and the exhibition space. The general atmosphere was the theme park. The oriental medical herb festival held from the 1st to 7th was directed for the exhibition showing the oriental medical herb of specializing type and the speciality in Sancheong-gun. But the design was applied the theme and the general atmosphere was directed with unification. The space that the visitors could touch the oriental medicine directly, could taste the medical tea, could pass the wall of medicine pot figure, could perform the face-painting, and could take a Figure in the photo-zone was prepared, and the active experience could be performed.

        The Current Status of Indoor Garden Design and Construction in Service Areas on Korea’s Expressways

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of the construction of indoor gardens in expressway service areas. This study can be utilized as basic data for efficient and successful indoor garden introduction in future service areas and improvements for current service areas on expressways. The study period was from September 2, 2016 to October 11, 2017. The status of indoor garden was determined by visiting 147 expressway service areas in Korea. Physical environment survey items include architectural structure, usage type, facility and garden ornament, mobility, material of planter, soil type and planting plants. Among the 147 major expressway service areas, 56 were constructed with indoor gardens done, showing an indoor garden construction ratio of 38%. In terms of the number of service areas with indoor gardens in expressway, Gyeongbu Expressway had the largest number of 16 areas. This was followed by 10 in Jungang Highway, 8 in the Jungbunaeryuk Expressway, 6 in the Seohaean Expressway, 4 in the Namhae Expressway, 4 in the Youngdong Expressway, 3 in the Donghaean Expressway, 3 in Tongyeong-daejeon Jungbu Expressway, and 2 in Honam Expressway. Thirty five service areas in expressway were constructed with natural flowers, 7 service areas were decorated with artificial flowers, and 14 service areas were arranged with both natural and artificial flowers. Most of the indoor gardens in the expressway were constructed in the restroom space, 47 in the men’s restroom and 50 in the women’s restroom. The indoor garden landscape in the expressway service area was all designed as a fixed garden type, except for three places composed of portable planters. There were 19 families, 27 genera, and 30 species of plants found in the indoor gardens in the expressway service areas.

        Serum anti-M$\ddot{u}$llerian hormone levels as a predictor of the ovarian response and IVF outcomes

        Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether anti-M$\ddot{u}$llerian hormone (AMH) levels could be predict ovarian poor/hyper response and IVF cycle outcome. Methods: Between May 2010 and January 2011, serum AMH levels were evaluated with retrospective analysis. Three hundred seventy infertile women undergoing 461 IVF cycles between the ages of 20 and 42 were studied. We defined the poor response as the number of oocytes retrieved was equal or less than 3, and the hyper response as more than 25 oocytes retrieved. Serum AMH was measured by commercial enzymelinked immunoassay. Results: The number of oocytes retrieved was more correlated with the serum AMH level (r=0.781, $p$ <0.01) than serum FSH (r=-0.412, $p$ <0.01). The cut-off value of serum AMH levels for poor response was 1.05 ng/mL (receiver operating characteristic [ROC] curves/area under the curve [AUC], $ROC_{AUC}$=0.85, sensitivity 74%, specificity 87%). Hyper response cut-off value was 3.55 ng/mL $ROC_{AUC}$=0.91, sensitivity 94%, specificity 81%). When the study group was divided according to the serum AMH levels (low: <1.05 ng/mL, middle: 1.05 ng/mL - 3.55 ng/mL, high: >3.55 ng/mL), the groups showed no statistical differences in mature oocyte rates (71.6% vs. 76.5% vs. 74.8%) or fertilization rates (76.9% vs. 76.6% vs. 73.8%), but showed significant differences in clinical pregnancy rates (21.7% vs. 24.1% vs. 40.8%, $p$=0.017). Conclusion: The serum AMH level can be used to predict the number of oocytes retrieved in patients, distinguishing poor and high responders.

        Original Article : Drug-Induced Liver Injury: Twenty Five Cases of Acute Hepatitis Following Ingestion of Polygonum multifl orum Thunb

        Background/Aims: Complementary medicines, including herbal preparations and nutritional supplements, are widely used without prescriptions. As a result, there has been growing interest in the risk of hepatotoxicity with these agents. It is diffi cult to determine causal relationships between these herbal preparations and hepatotoxicity. We report on 25 patients diagnosed with toxic hepatitis following ingestion of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. Methods: Twenty-five patients (median age, 48 years [24 to 65 years]; M:F=18:7) with suspected P. multiflorum Thunb-induced liver injury were admitted to our hospital between 2007 and 2009. We analyzed clinical and histological data, including the types and the duration of P. multifl orum Thunb intake and the duration of hospital care. We also determined the type of liver injury using the R ratio (serum activity of ALT/serum activity of ALP). Results: The types of complementary medicine used included tea (n=16), liquor (n=5), tea and liquor (n=2), powder (n=1), and honeyed pudding (n=1). The most common presenting sign was jaundice (76%), and 18 patients (72%) had evidence of hepatocellular liver injury. Histological fi ndings were consistent with acute hepatitis in all cases (n=10) for which liver biopsy was performed. Twenty-three patients (91.6%) recovered with conservative management, 1 patient (4%) had a liver transplant, and 1 patient (4%) died of hepatic failure. Conclusions: In our cases, we found that P. multifl orum Thunb could be hepatotoxic and could lead to severe drug-induced liver injury, and even death. (Gut Liver 2011;5:493-499)

        Improvement of the Functional and Organoleptic Properties of the Fermented Soymilk with Bacillus subtilis 2829PNU015 in Addition of Corni fructus Extracts

        To improve the functional and organoleptic properties of the fermented soymilk with Bacillus subtilis 2829PNU015 which has chungkukjang like flavor, functional materials from the edible plant extracts with well-known health promoting effects were examined by fibrinolytic activity and sensory evaluation. Among five samples such as Corni fructus, garlic, purple sweet potato, aged garlic, and pumpanini were tested, Corni fructus showed the highest fibrinolytic activity. The appearance and taste of the fermented soymilk (FS) was varied to the amount of Corni fructus added, and the highest acceptability of FS was observed from FS containing 1% Corni fructus extracts (10°Brix) in it. Best way of applying Corni fructus to the fermented soymilk (FFS) was found to be incubating the mixture of soymilk and Corni fructus with Bacillus subtilis. FFS demonstrated dose dependent radical scavenging activities and these activities were found to be higher than those of FS at designated concentration.

        Simulation of Effects of Swine Manure Application Rates on Nitrate Concentration in Runoff, Indiana, USA

        Livestock manure is an important source of nutrients for crop production. However, farmers typically do not know the exact nutrient values for livestock manure. In many instances, manure has been viewed as a waste, and as a result it is applied close to the source resulting in over application of nutrients. Thus, the goal of nutrient application has often been applied to reduce the application expense rather than to maximize crop income. This results in wasted money and potentially negative impacts on water quality. Several livestock manure management scenarios were created based on agronomic nutrient requirements using the Utilization of Animal Manure as a Plant Nutrient (AMANURE) software to investigate water quality impacts with the National Agricultural Pesticide Risk Analysis (NAPRA) WWW modeling system. Application of manure at agronomic rates can result in high nitrate-nitrogen losses for some soil types, especially when applied in late fall. The application of manure at an agronomic rate does not necessarily equate to adequate water quality protection, and farmers must take care applying manure at agronomic rates, because nitrate-nitrogen loss potential varies spatially and temporarily. Nutrient loss probability maps for Indiana at 5%, 10%, 25%, and 50% values were created to demonstrate potential water quality impacts when livestock manure is applied to cropland at agronomic rates. The NAPRA WWW system coupled with AMANURE can be used to identify site-specific livestock manure management plans that are environmentally sound and agronomically appropriate.

        Comparison of assisted reproductive technology outcomes in infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome: In vitro maturation, GnRH agonist, and GnRH antagonist cycles

        Objective: We compared the assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes among infertile women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) treated with IVM, conventional IVF, GnRH agonist, and GnRH antagonist cycles. Methods: The prospective study included a total of 67 cycles in 61 infertile women with PCOS. The women with PCOS were randomized into three IVF protocols: IVM/IVF with FSH and hCG priming with immature oocyte retrieval 38 hours later (group A, 14 cycles), GnRH agonist long protocol (group B, 14 cycles), and GnRH antagonist multi-dose flexible protocol (group C, 39 cycles). IVF outcomes, such as clinical pregnancy rate (CPR), implantation rate (IR), miscarriage rate (MR), and live birth rate (LBR), were compared among the three groups. Results: Age, BMI, and basal FSH and LH levels did not differ among the three groups. The number of retrieved oocytes and 2 pronucleus embryos was significantly lower in group A compared with groups B and C. The CPR, IR, MR, and LBR per embryo transfer showed no differences among the three groups. There was no incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome in group A. Conclusion: The IR, MR, and LBR in the IVM cycles were comparable to those of the GnRH agonist and GnRH antagonist cycles. The IVM protocol, FSH and hCG priming with oocyte retrieval 38 hours later, is an effective ART option that is comparable with conventional IVF for infertile women with PCOS.

        The effectiveness of earlier oocyte retrieval in the case of a premature luteinizing hormone surge on hCG day in in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer cycles

        Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of earlier oocyte retrieval in IVF patients with a premature LH surge on hCG day. Methods: One hundred forty IVF patients (164 cycles) with premature LH surge on hCG day were included, retrospectively. We divided them into 2 study groups: LH surge with timed ovum pick-up (OPU) 36 hours after hCG injection (group B, 129 premature cycles), and LH surge with earlier OPU within 36 hours after hCG injection (group C, 35 cycles). Control groups were tubal factor infertility without premature LH surge (group A, 143 cycles). Results: The mean age (year) was statistically higher in group C than in groups A or B ($38.2{\pm}5.4$ vs. $36.2{\pm}4.2$ vs. $36.8{\pm}4.9$, respectively; p=0.012). The serum LH levels (mIU/mL) on hCG day were significantly higher in group B and C than in group A ($22.7{\pm}14.9$ vs. $30.3{\pm}15.9$ vs. $3.2{\pm}2.9$, respectively; p>0.001). Among groups A, B, and C, 4.9%, 31.7%, and 51.4% of the cycles, respectively, had no oocytes, and the overall rates of cycle cancellation (OPU cancellation, no oocyte, or no embryos transferrable) were 15.4%, 65.9%, and 74.3%, respectively. The fertilization rate (%) was significantly higher in group B than in group C ($73.2{\pm}38.9$ vs. $47.8{\pm}42.9$, p=0.024). The clinical pregnancy rate was significantly higher in group C than in groups A and B (44.4% vs. 27.3% vs. 9.1%, respectively, p=0.021). However, the miscarriage rate was also higher in group C than in group B (22% vs. 0%, respectively, p=0.026). Conclusion: Earlier OPU may not be effective in reducing the risk of cycle cancellation in patients with premature LH surge on hCG day. A larger scale study will be required to reveal the effectiveness of earlier ovum retrieval with premature LH surge.
