Modified Unreacted Core Model for Reduction of Manganese Ore by CO Gas

Pre-reduction of manganese ore has a direct impact on energy savings for the subsequent smelting process. To this end, knowledge of the kinetics of the pre-reduction of manganese ore is useful in controlling the process parameters for the subsequent smelting process. In this study, a kinetic model that considers the effects of temperature, ore size, and CO content during the reduction process is developed. The model was performed using an unreacted core model using similarity to iron ore. This modified unreacted core model can be used to predict the change in the state of manganese ore over time, and this can predict the change in the reduction rate depending on the process temperature, CO gas change and ore size. The rate constants of the chemical reaction of manganese ore are obtained experimentally. The results of the developed prediction model show good agreement with the experimental data and the reduction degree of manganese ore is found to increase with increasing temperature and CO content in the gas.

The optimization of the gas atomization for particle size control and optimal energy efficiency cannot be achieved simply, due to the lack of understanding of the basic atomization process. A numerical analysis is performed in order to optimize the manufacturing process and to understand the behavior of the gas at the end of the nozzle. In this study, the gas flow is analyzed numerically using a computational fluid dynamics software package (Fluent). It is found that a protrusion length of 3 mm is optimal for nozzles with a quick gas velocity and stable aspiration pressure. In addition, the impact on the air gap size is also investigated.

정보화 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 사실 기반의 데이터, 데이터의 전달을 위한 네트워크 기술, 그리고, 정보를 원하는 목적에 맞게 처리하여 원하는 사용자에게 전달하여 부가적인 가치를 부여하게 하는 응용 소프트웨어로 크게 나눌 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 응용 소프트웨어 중에는 기술적, 관리적, 문서적인 측면에서 체계적으로 관리되어 있지 않아, 그 상품성을 제대로 인정 받지 못해 진정한 가치를 평가 받고 있지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서, 일반 응용 소프트웨어를 상품화하여 제대로 그 가치를 평가 받을 수 있도록 준비하는 과정을 제안하고자 한다.
램프미터링 운영기준 정립에 관한 연구 : 서울외곽순환고속도로 사례 중심으로

교통수요의 증가와 이용행태는 도로 건설로만 감당하기에는 한계에 도달했고 기존 시스템의 최대 활용을 도모함으로써 그 해결방안을 찾고자 하는 노력이 다방면에서 검토·연구되고 있는데 그 중 가장 대표적인 전략이 연결로 진입교통량을 통제 하는 램프미터링 시스템(RMS)이다. 현재 운영되고 있는 서울외곽순환고속도로 장수~중동 구간 운영기준을 고찰하고, 지리적 및 교통상황을 고려한 운영기준을 재정립하였다. 이것을 위해 국내 및 해외 램프미터링 운영기준을 분석하였고, 단절점 분석으로 새로운 램프미터링 운영기준을 제시하였다. The increase in the traffic demand and behavioral pattern of its use reached the limit for the only means of road construction to bear; thus the multilateral efforts to find a solution to this problem together with the examination and research on this issue, among which the most representative strategy is Ramp Metering System controlling access traffic volume to connection roads. The operation standard and running time was re-established in consideration of geographical conditions and traffic circumstances by considering the standard of operation and running time of the currently operated Jangsu- Jungdong section of the outer ring expressway of Seoul. For this purpose, this research analyzed the operative standard of RMS home and abroad and suggested a new operative standard of ramp metering through the analysis of break points.
탄재내장 산화철 브리켓의 환원거동에 미치는 염기도 영향

The world is gradually running short of high quality iron resources. This forces ironmaking processes to focus on the use of low quality iron ores. Carbon composite iron oxide briquettes (CCB) are one of the alternative choices. CCB enables the utilization of low quality powdered iron ores and coal, and also enhances the fast reduction rate of iron oxides by providing direct contact with coal. The iron ore and coal used for making CCB initially contain impurity components such as gangue and ash. Impurity components are generally well known to suppress contact between the iron ore and coal. In this study, the effect of basicity on the reduction behavior of CCB is discussed. Basicity in the range of 0 and 1.632 was considered. CCB mixed with reagent iron oxide and graphite was prepared to have a molar ratio C/O = 1. Reduction experiments were carried out in N2 gas condition by heating from 200 ℃ to 1200 ℃ in an electric furnace. CO and CO₂ gas were measured by a gas analyzer to analyze the reduction mechanism. In the case of CCB with a basicity less than 0.816, the degree of reduction was decreased due to the formation of fayalite phase. CCB whose basicity was higher than 1.224 also showed that the decrease of the reduction degree was due to the formation of high melting point slag. As a result, the highest value of degree of reduction was measured at the basicity in between 0.8 and 1.2. (Received March 30, 2016; Accepted May 14, 2016)
