      • 금귤 젤 및 금귤- 벌꿀절임의 製造와 그의 品質特性

        제주산 금귤을 소재로 한 금귤 젤리화 식품과 금귤-벌꿀절임을 제조하고, 이들의 물성, 기호성, 저장성 등에 관한 특성을 검토하였다. 젤라틴 2.5%와 물엿을 사용한 젤리화 금귤은 硬度가 195g-force이며, 탄성은 114%로서 後食用 製品으로 알맞은 것으로 평가되었다. 금귤-벌꿀절임은 20% 이내의 벌꿀을 함유한 제품이 官能評價에 좋은 結果를 얻었다. 加熱處理하여 밀봉한 製品은 32℃˚에서 20일간 貯藏하였을 경우에도 전혀 微生物 검출이 되지 않았으나, 加熱處理하지 않은 製品의 경우 製造工程 등에서 오는 汚染으로 인하여 벌꿀함유량에 관계없이 일부 微生物 增殖이 일어나 저장 및 유통중에 變質이 우려된다. In order to utilize Kumquats, a Fortunella variety produced in Cheju island, sensory evaluation and texture parameter of Kumquats processed foods were invesigated. Hardness and springiness of Kumquats jelly made with addition of 2.5% gelatin and maltose syrup was 195 g-force and 114% respectively, and the commodity was suitable for a dessert food in sensory evaluation. Kumquats slice contained below 20% honey was also evaluated as good for a tea of dessert food. Honey-Kumquats slice with heat treatment was safe for microbial growth during storge for 20 days at 32℃, but molds, bacteria and yeasts contaminated during processing were grown on Kumquats-honey commodities without heat treatment.

      • 제주도 북부연안역의 생물생태학적 기초연구 : Phytoplankton Dynamics and Primary Productivity at the Hamduk Area 함덕해역의 식물플랑크톤 동태와 일차생산력

        제주도 북부 함덕해역의 연안역과 외양역에 있어 식물플랑크톤 동태와 일차생산력을 파악하기위해 1989년 7월부터 1990년 7월까지 조사하였다. 조사기간중 출현한 식물플랑크톤은 총 132종으로 규조류가 96종(72.7%), 와편모조류가 28종(21.2%), 기타 식물성 편모조류가 8종(6.1%)을 차지하였다. 출현종중 Chaetoceros socialis, Fragilaria oceanica 그리고 Lauderia annulata가 연안역에서 현존량의 70% 이상의 높은 우점율을 보였으며 대체적으로 Chaetoceros속이 높은 우점을 나타내었다. 평균현존량의 분포는 연안역(정점1,2)이 7.1×10³∼7.3×10⁴cells/ℓ, 외양역(정점3,4,5)이 5.8×10³∼3.0×10⁴cell/ℓ의 범위로써 규조류가 97%를 차지하였다. 수주의 평균일일 일차생산력은 연안역(정점 2)에서 631.06(156.74∼1,055.26)㎎C/㎡/day,외양역(정점 4)에서 367.12(111.83∼734.44)㎎C/㎡/day로 년간 평균 약 182gC/㎡/yr로 추정된다. 식물플랑크톤의 동화계수는 표층에서0.93-13.16㎎C/㎎Chla/hr의 범위로써 하계에 높았다. 개체수의 수직분포와 일차생산력의 계절변화로 볼때 함덕해역의 식물플랑크톤 동태는 수괴의 수직혼합 및 성층과 밀접한 상관을 보이고 있다고 판단된다. This study has been carried out to understand the dynamics and primary productivity of phytoplankton at nearshore and offshore in the Hamduk area, northern Cheju Island from July 1989 to July 1990. A total of 132species were identified, comprising mainly 96 spp. of diatoms(72.2%) as majority, and also 28 spp. of dinoflagellates(21.2%) and 8 spp. of other phytoflagellates(6.1%) as minority. Of these, Chaetoceros socilis, Fragilaria oceanisa, Lauderia annulata predominated more than 70% of standing crops at nearshore and the genus Chaetoceros was most abundant in all stations. The cell number of surface layer ranged from 7.1×10³to 7.3×10⁴cells/ℓat nearshore and from 5.8×10³to 3.0×10⁴cell/ℓat offshore, showing the composition ratio of 97% by diatoms. The means of daily depth-integrated primary productivity in the water-column were 631.06(156.74∼1,055.26)㎎C/㎡/day at nearshore(st.2) and 367.12(111.83∼734.44)㎎C/㎡/day at offshore(st.4), estimating about 182gC/㎡/yr in the yearly primary productivity. Assimilation number of phytoplankton at the surface ranged from 0.93 to 13.16㎎C/㎎Chla/hr, showing higher values in summer. It is speculated that the dynamics of phytoplankton show the close relation with the vertical mixing and stratification of the water mass in terms of the vertical distribution of cell number and the seasonal variation of primary productivity.

      • 여름철 자연조건에서 온주밀감 잎 광계ll의 광억제

        The street effects of light, temperature and relative humidity in natural conditions were studied on Satsuma mandarin plants(citrus unshiu Marc.) growing in the field during the summer season. ChlorophyII fluorescence induction of leaves was used to characterize the stress effects. Photoinhibition of photosystem II (PS II) was caused in mid-day conditions; ratio of variable to maximum fluorescene (Fv/Fm) decreased remarkably with increased initial fluorescene (Fo) and decreased maximum fluorescene (Fm). However, it was fully recovered with the onset of night time, indicating that it is not fatal for growth of these plants. Photochemical efficiency of PS II, Fv/Fm, showed significant correlation with light intensity, temperature and relative humidity under natural conditions. Especially, under the supraoptimal conditions (light intensity above 1,000 μmole/m²/sec, temperature above 30.5℃ or relative humidity below 71.2%) in summer, it showed significant correlation with only relative humidity. This results suggest that relative humidity is a limiting factor for photosynthesis of Satsuma mandarin plants under field conditions in summer.

        The specific electrical conductivity and the chloride contents were monitored at 98 sits in Cheju Island during two years (1994.2∼1995.11) to the purpose of characterized to regional variations of its elements. The areas of east and west were characterized by both higher elements contain than south and north area. Chloride and specific electrical conductivity values from Kimyoung to Shinhung areas showed more than 100㎎/ℓand 400 μmohs/㎝, respectively. Also west areas relatively high values of both elements were derived from agricultural practice and feeding cattle. However, the difference of difference of these areas indicated that the groundwater environments were different.

        顎矯正術을 받은 顎顔面 寄形患者의 SKELETAL PATTERN의 變化에 關한 硏究

        In the treatment of dentofacial deformities, analysis of skeletal pattern, with evaluation of plaster dental case, is essential procedure. This study was based on 20 patients with dentofacial deformity who were admitted to the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery Kngnam sacred heart Hospital during the period of Jan 1989. We studied serial cephalometric radiogarphs of patients (pre-op, postop immediately, postop 6 moth). The obtained results indicates the good resistance of rigid fixation against relapse in orthognathic surgery.

        Neurites from PC12 cells are connected to each other by synapse-like structures

        <P>PC12 cells have been used as a model of sympathetic neurons. Nerve growth factor (NGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), and cAMP induce neurite outgrowth from PC12 cells. cAMP induced a greater number of neurites than did NGF. In particular, we attempted to elucidate whether PC12 cell neurites, induced by several factors including NGF, bFGF, and cAMP, form synapses, and whether each neurite has presynaptic and postsynaptic properties. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), we observed that neurites are connected to each other. The connected regions presented dense core vesicles and a clathrin-coated membrane invagination. In addition, typical maker proteins for axon and dendrite were identified by an immuno-staining method. Tau-1, an axonal marker in neurons, was localized at a high concentration in the terminal tips of neurites from PC12 cells, which were connected to neurite processes containing MAP-2, a dendritic marker in neurons. Furthermore, neurites containing SV2 and synaptotagmin, markers of synaptic vesicles, were in contact with neurites harboring drebrin, a marker of the postsynaptic membrane, suggesting that neurites from PC12 cells induced by NGF, bFGF, and cAMP may form synapse-like structures. Tat-C3 toxin, a Rho inhibitor, augmented neurite outgrowth induced by NGF, bFGF, and cAMP. Tat-C3 toxin together with neurotrophins also exhibited synapse-like structures between neurites.         댄디 워커 증후군이 동반된 증후성 신경피부멜라닌증

        신경피부멜라닌증은 피부와 중추신경계를 침범하는 비가족성 선천성 증후군으로 선천성 모반이 매우 크거나, 3개 이상 다수이면서 양성 또는 악성의 연수막 내 멜라닌세포 증식을 특징으로 하는 드문 증후군이다. 증상이 있는 신경피부멜라닌증의 10%에서 댄디 워커 증후군이 동반되며, 이 경우 예후는 매우 좋지 않다. 저자들은 발작으로 방문하여 신경피부멜라닌증과 댄디 워커증후군이 동반된 7세 여아에서 반복적인 IVIG 투여로 일시적으로 신경학적 증상(의식상태와 반마비)이 호전되는 증례를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Neurocutaneous melanosis (NCM) is a rare nonheritable congenital phakomatosis. NCM is characterized by large or multiple (>3) congenital nevi that are associated with benign and/or malignant melanocytic tumors of the leptomeninges. Approxi-mately 10% of symptomatic patients with NCM have associated Dandy Walker complex (DWC), which seems to have an extremely poor prognosis. We report the case of a 7 year-old patient with multiple congenital NCM associated with DWC, who experienced a transient improvement in neurological symptoms including mental status and hemiparesis after intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy. We suggest that the administration of IVIG may play a role in the treatment of symp-tomatic NCM.
