        The critical power(CP) is the highest intensity to sustain for a long time without a fatigue. The anaerobic work capacity(AWC) is the highest anaerobic capacity to be provided by anaerobic energy system without the infection of hypoxia. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between AWC and AnP and to verify the validity of AWC. The subjects were consisted of 10 elementary and 10 middle school male students(12.8±1.3yrs, 159.3±12.1㎝, 49.4±11.8㎏). The critical power and anaerobic work capacity were calculated by work-time relationship after four cycle ergometry test to fatigue from 1 to 10 minute. The anaerobic power included Margaria-Kalmen test, Sargent jump and Wingate test. The main finding were as follows. The AWC of elementary and middle school students. were 6.47±2.63KJ and 11.10±3.01KJ. The AWC of elementary students was 58.3% of the middle school students's one. The AnP of elementary students were 47.2∼66.5% of the middle school students's one. And there were high correlation between AWC and AnP(0.64∼0.87, P<0.01). This study showed that AWC is useful index on AnP both elementary and middle school students.

        Sediment yield and sediment transport in a basin bring about decrease of conveyance by the change of bed section, and have an influence on an aggravation of water quality and freshwater ecosystem. This study is to analyze the characteristics of outflow sediment according to land-use in Mushim-cheon flowing through forest area, farmland area and urban area. The upper stream of Mushim-cheon consists of forest area and farmland area. The suspended sediment is observed through 10 rainfall events in 5 sites. As a result of analyzing characteristics of landuse, the site of Bangse-gyo takes up 69% of Mushim-cheon, and farmland area(27.1%) and forest area(63.7%) take up 90.8% in Bangse-gyo. Accordingly, these two areas have the high possibility to occur sediment. The suspended sediment of this site shows the highest concentration. Transferring to the downstream and the urban, the concentration of suspended sediment gets decreased. The suspended sediment occurred in the upper stream of Mushim-cheon prior to Bangse-gyo has an influence on the downstream, and has a slight influence on the urban area.

        한국 정상인과 제2형 당뇨병 환자에서 췌도베타세포의 정량

        Background: There have been several reports about insulin secretory impairment in non-obese type 2 diabetic patients and even in impaired glucose tolerant subjects in Korea. Insulin secretory impairment might be induced by insufficient beta-cell mass, functional defects of beta-cells or both. To clarify the cause of impaired insulin secretion in type 2 non-obese diabetic patients in Korea, betacell masses were quantified in normal and type 2 diabetic subjects. Method: Normal pancreases were procured by 6 heart-beating non-diabetic donors under informed consent from relatives and approval of the university ethical committee. To quantify the beta cell mass and insulin content in various part of the pancreas, first we divided it into 3 parts: head, body and tail, and then each three parts were weighed and subdivided again into 8 segments equally. For diabetic patients, tissue sections were obtained from 15 partial or total pancreatectomized type 2 diabetic patients of any causes. After being fixed, tissues were immunostained using the Streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase method with anti-insulin antibody. Beta cells were counted by point count method. Results: The mean value of total pancreas weight of normal subjects (n=b) was 77.1±14.6 g, that of mean relative volume of beta cells in the pancreas was 2.1±0.9%, ranging from 1.4% to 3.1%(head 2.3±0.6%, body 1.8±0.2%, tail 2.2±0.4%). Mean value of total beta cell mass which was calculated from relative volume of beta-cells and weight of each portions was 1.3±0.3 g, ranging from 1.2 g to 1.9 g (head 0.6±0.3 g, body 0.4±0.2 g, tail 0.4±0.2 g). Mean insulin content per pancreas was 63.6±46.6 ㎍, ranging from 27.8 to 137.2 ㎍/pancreas (head 25.1±19.1 ㎍, body 20.8±15.5 ㎍, tail 17.7±14.9 ㎍). In diabetic patients, relative volume of beta cells in tissues were variable from 0.4% to 2.8% and there was good correlation between beta-cell mass and body mass index of the diabetic patients. However we can't find the correlation among relative volume of beta-cell, (r²=0.55, p$lt;0.05) duration of diabetes and age. Remarkable heterogeneity for loss of beta-cells in the islets of diabetic patients was observed even in the same lobe of pancreas. There were no evidence of lymphocytic infiltration in the islets. Conclusion: Insufficient beta cell mass seems to be a main cause for insulin secretory impairment in non-obese type 2 diabetic patients in Korea.

        A behavior of cable connected to a submarine and an underwater vehicle is changed variously according to the motion of the submarine and the underwater vehicle. And its motion can be also affected by fluid resistance. In this case, it is very important to analyze and predict the behavior of cable accurately, because large deformation motions of cable determine vehicle’s driving conditions. The role of this paper is to precisely analyze the large deformation phenomenon of cable in underwater using absolute nodal coordinate formulation. To derive the tensile and bending stiffness of the cable, the concept of continuum mechanics was introduced. Hence, nonlinear effects of elastic forces could be considered more effectively. Plus, performing the analysis regardless of the length of the cable, the dimensionless equations of motion was adopted. And the results of the simulation were compared with those of miniature experiments.

        모함에 연결되어 통신 케이블의 가이드 역할을 하는 탄성 호스는 모함의 운동 조건을 결정하는 중요한 인자이다. 길이가 수 십 미터에 달하는 탄성 호스를 실제 상황에서 실험을 하기에는 어려움이 있으므로 해석을 통해 거동 특성을 분석하고자 한다. 탄성 호스는 곡률 반경에 대한 변형뿐만 아니라 축 방향에 대한 변형도 발생하므로, 축 방향에 대한 변형 구배가 좌표계에서 유도되는 절대 절점 좌표계로 모델링하였으며, 연속체 역학 개념을 도입함으로써 대변형 효과를 표현하도록 하였다. 탄성 호스의 끝 단에 연결된 모함은 강체 모델로 표현하였고, 조향각에 의해 운동이 결정되도록 하였다. 또한, 수중에서 호스가 거동할 때 발생하는 유체 저항력을 고려함으로써 수중에서의 탄성 호스 거동 특성을 분석하였다. A flexible hose attached to a mother ship experiences various motion followed by the behavior of the mother ship and an underwater vehicle. Although the analysis of the hose is very important factor to steer a mother ship in real situation, it is impossible to get the information experimentally. So in this study, the motion of flexible hose is sought analytically. First, to model the flexible hose, ANCF (absolute nodal coordinate formulation) was used because that formulation can relax the theory of Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko beam and allow the deformation of the cross section. Second, the mother ship is assumed as a rigid body which has a 6 degree of freedom. The motion of a hose is predominantly affected by the behavior of a mother ship together with the fluid flow.

        모함에 연결되어 통신 호스의 가이드 역할을 하는 탄성 호스는 모함의 운동을 결정하는 중요한 인자이다. 탄성 호스는 그 길이가 수 십 미터에 이르므로 실제 수중에서 실험을 하는 데에는 어려움이 있다. 모함에 연결된 탄성 호스는 입구를 통해 빠져 나오는데, 이는 탄성 호스의 길이가 매 시간 변함을 의미한다. 그러므로 길이가 변하는 탄성 호스를 고려하여 탄성 호스의 거동을 분석하고자 한다. 이 논문에서는 절대 절점 좌표계를 이용하여 탄성 호스를 모델링 하였으며, 섭동법을 통해 매 시간에서의 길이에 대한 변화를 고려하도록 하였다. 그리고 유체 저항력은 흐르지 않는 유체를 가정하여, 탄성 호스의 수직 방향 속도의 제곱에 비례하는 것으로 가정하였다. A flexible hose connected to a mother ship which protects a telecommunication line from serious problems such as cutting, folding and connecting error plays an important role to determine the driving condition of a mother ship. It is hard to carry on experiments in realistic situation because the length of a flexible hose is about dozens of meters. A flexible hose is get out of a hole in a mother ship which means that the length of a flexible hose changes at every time. Therefore, in this research, the behavior of a flexible hose is analyzed with considering the changing length of a flexible hose. In this paper, a flexible hose is modeled with absolute nodal coordinate formulation. And the changing length of a flexible hose is resolved using perturbation scheme. Also, it is assumed that the fluid does not flow and the resistance force is considered as proportional to the normal velocity of a flexible hose.

        Survival Motor Neuron 유전자 Exon 7과 8 부위가 결실된 제1형 척수성 근위축증 1례

        Spinal muscular atrophy(SMA) is a genetic disorder of the motor neurons that cause muscular weakness and muscular atrophy due to anterior horn cell degeneration. Classic spinal muscular atrophy patient is caused by mutation in the chromosome 5(q11.2-q13.3), and the majority of the patient shows homozygous deletion of the telomeric survival motor neuron(SMN) gene in the chromosome 5. Deletion of exon 7 and 8 of the SMN gene and deletion of exon 4 and 5 of the neuronal apoptosis inhibitory protein(NAIP) are typically observed in SMA patients. The SMN protein plays a role in an essential cell metabolism process, the splicing of pre mRNA in the spliceosomes. We report a 7 month old male with SMA. He showed rapidly aggrdvatial muscular weakness and died at 7 months. His DNA analysis proved deletion of exon 7 and 8 of the telomeric copy of the SMN gene. 저자들은 survival motor neuron 유전자의 exon 7, 8 부위가 결실된 척수성 근위축증 환아 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.
