The purpose of this study is to automize the design and analysis of the water distribution network using Geographical Information System and a computer programming for network analysis. In this study, geographical informations about the district, roads, streams and water distribution networks of Cheongju City as well as the attribute informations of them are stored into the database with the help of PC- ARC/INFO, which is the most widely using GIS software. And a computer programming in FORTRAN for hydraulic simulation of water distribution network, which implements the traditional Hardy-Cross methods solving Hazen-Williams flow equation. Also, a user interface menu was developed using ARC/INFO-SML to integrate the revised FLOW program and the GIS modules. Applying the developed system to the exsisting water distribution network of Cheongju City, five nodes with negative pressure were extracted. And several simulation studies such as setting up new booster stations were carried out to solve the negative pressure problems. The application study was extended to find out favorable route to a certain area virtually given with new water distribution demands. A system which can give useful information to design and analyze the water distribution network is developed.

This research involves the integration of the HEC Hydrologic Modeling System(HEC-MMS) and HECRiver Analysis System (HEC-RAS) with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to develop a regional model for floodplain determination and representation. HEC-RAS is designed to aid in the determination of water surface profiles associated based on inputs describing the channel shape, hydraulic parameters, and flow. HEC-HMS is designed to simulate the precipitation-runoff processes of dendritic watershed systems. The purpose of this study is created visual floodplain map from water surface profile calculated by HEC-RAS model. Recent developments in GIS-based tools can alleviate some of these shortcomings. Developments in GIS applications allow it to work in conjunction with hydrologic and hydraulic models thus reducing the need for field survey data and making the floodplain mapping process more automated and visual. These models is consist of HEC-RAS cross-section coordinate data and DEM(digital elevation model) of study area. The resulting surface model provides a good representation of the general landscape and contain additional detail the stream channel. The results of the study present that GIS is obvious to effective environmental for floodplain mapping and analysis. In this sturdy, the methodology is applied to Mushim stream, located in Cheongju, Korea.

The purpose of this paper is to formulate the computational algorithms and the applications of the model in succession to $quot; The Network Flow Model for Optimal Allocation of Water Resources (I) : Modeling and Solutions$quot;. The computational algorithms are formulated base on the network flow system models and out of kilter algorithm. For the applications of the formulated network flow models and programs, the Geum river basin is selected. The historical data, priority number and reservoir operation rule are used for the effective operations of the formulated network flow models and programs. This study showed the ability of the methodology to perform the optimum allocation of water resources under a priority water rights using network flow models. This network flow models and programs will be useful in future studies to determine the optimal allocation of water resources under low flow and drought.
