Surface immobilization of chlorhexidine on a reverse osmosis membrane for in-situ biofouling control

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Biofouling on a thin film composite (TFC) membrane is one of the most serious obstacles during the operation of reverse osmosis (RO) processes. In this study, chlorhexidine (CH) was immobilized as a novel non-oxidizing chemical on a RO membrane surface with glutaraldehyde (GA) as a cross-linking agent. The analysis of the membrane surface showed that CH was successfully immobilized with a molecular layer-by-layer technique seen by the increase of Cl and methylene peaks from the XPS and FT-IR, respectively. From the static biofilm growth tests using drip-flow cells, CH immobilized membranes exhibited a high anti-bacterial potential, and the CH bi-layered (CHBL) membrane showed a better anti-biofouling ability than that of the CH mono-layered (CHML) membrane due to the complete coverage of CH on the RO membrane surface. The retardation of biofilm formation and the higher physical cleaning efficiency of the CHML and CHBL membranes were introduced by direct inactivation of the attached bacteria as well as a decreased secretion of biofilm building materials such as exocellular polymeric substances (EPS).</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Complete coverage of CH on RO membrane was achieved by facile crosslinking with glutaraldehyde. </LI> <LI> Immobilized CH on RO membrane surfaces resulted a strong anti-biofouling activity. </LI> <LI> CH immobilization did not alter the intrinsic performance of RO membrane. </LI> </UL> </P>

본 논문은 국내 인터넷 환경에 Web SSO를 도입하는 방안에 대한 연구를 담고 있다. ID관리의 문제점으로 인해 Web SSO가 필요한 실정을 분석하고 현존하는 Web SSO 기술 검토하여 이중 Liberty 방식을 채택한다. Liberty 방식의 Web SSO 구축 방안을 제안한 후 실제 사용되기 위해서 해결해야 할 기술적 검토사항을 분석하고 이에 대한 해결 방안으로 공인 IDP 체계를 제시한다. 실제 공인 Web SSO 구축을 위해 필요한 시스템 구성도 제안한다.
