Vol.25 No.-
This study was carried out to determine the effect of various fertilizer levels on the growth and yield of Agrimony. this experiment was conducted for 2years from 1998 to 1999 in Medicinal Plant Experiment Station, Kyungnam ARES. The results obtainned were summarized as follows : 1. The growth characteristics such as plant height, tillers and leaf numbers were more increased at 22-10-10 plot than of other fertilizer levels. 2. Variations of percent flowering of Agrimonia pilosa L. treated with different fertilizer levels were more increased at 22-10-10 plot than of other fertilizer levels. 3. Yield per 10a of Agrimonia pilosa L., Fresh weight was 1,500kg in 22-10-10 plot, and 243kg in non-treatment plot. The dry weight was 736kg in 22-10-10 plot, and 96kg in non-treatment plot. Yield of Seed and Fruit following to different application levels was highest at the fertilizing plot of N, P2O5, K2O=22-10-10.

Retinoids are applied to not only cancer prevention but also cancer chemotherapy by stimulating differentiation of cells. We studied differentiation inducing effect of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) by studying proportion of high dense fractions of stem-like cells and the size of S phase fraction in cell cycle. From mammary organoids obtained from 7- to 8-week old F344 female rat mammary gland, we cultured rat mammary epithelial cells (RMEC) and treated physiological doses of $10^{-6}$, $10^{-7}$, and $10^{-8}$ M ATRA from the first day and then cultured for 4, 7, and 14 days. After that, immunostaining was performed using peanut agglutinin (PNA) and anti-Thy-1.1 monoclonal antibody (Thy-1.1) that can be used as markers of differentiation. We separated four different cell subpopulations by flow cytometry: cells negative to both reagents (B-), PNA-positive cells (PNA+), Thy-1.1-positive cells (Thy-1.1+), and cells positive to both reagents (B+). We observed continuous decreases of high dense fractions of stem-like cells (PNA+ subpopulations) for 14 days and as much decreases as high doses of ATRA, which were thought to be proportional to doses of ATRA. We labeled RMEC with bromodeoxyuridine and investigated cell cycle fractions that went through S phase. We observed a tendency of decrease of S phase fraction with time in culture, which, is thought to be related to continuous decreases of PNA+ subpopulations and inhibitory role of ATRA on cell cycle. These results suggest that physiological doses of ATRA could stimulate differentiation of RMEC and convert stem-like RMEC to differentiated cells in SFM for a relatively long period of 14 days.

Background: The interest in Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) has increased, and the choice of assays became wider since the first national survey in Korea on CDI diagnosis in 2015. We conducted a survey of the domestic CDI assays with more varied questions to understand the current situation in Korea. Methods: In April 2018, about 50 questions on the current status of CDI assays and details on implementation and perceptions were written, and a survey questionnaire was administered to laboratory medicine specialists in 200 institutions. Results: One-hundred and fifty institutions responded to the questionnaire, of which 90 (60.0%) including one commercial laboratory, performed CDI assays. The toxin AB enzyme immunoassay (toxin AB EIA), nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), and C. difficile culture, glutamate dehydrogenase assay, alone or in combination with other assays, were used in 75 (84.3%), 52 (58.4%), 35 (36.0%), and 23 (25.8%), respectively, and 65 (73.0%) institutions performed a combination of two or more assays. The sensitivity of toxin AB EIA was more negatively perceived, and that on specificity was more positively perceived. The perception of sensitivity and specificity of NAAT was mostly positive. Perception on the algorithm test projected it as useful but in need of countermeasures. Sixty-three (73.3%) institutions responded that they performed surveillance on CDI. Conclusion: This study provides useful evidence on the current status of CDI laboratory diagnosis in Korea as well as on items that require improvement and is thought to aid in standardizing and improving the CDI laboratory diagnosis in Korea.

Abstract

We herein present the design, fabrication, and wafer-level packaging of an electromagnetic biaxial scanning micromirror. The vacuum packaging of the micromirror was implemented by anodically bonding the glass cap wafer to both sides of the silicon substrate with the micromirror. The measured quality factor of the vacuum packaged micromirror is 1923.2 for the horizontal scan, whereas that of the device in the air is 649.6. The maximum optical scan angle of the vacuum packaged micromirror is 24.19° at 155 mApp and 11.9 kHz for the horizontal scan, and 7.1° at 204.7 mApp and 60 Hz for the vertical scan. The estimated vacuum level of the package is 1.65 ± 0.85 Torr.

Highlights

The design, fabrication, and wafer-level packaging of an electromagnetic biaxial scanning micromirror is presented.

The vacuum packaging was implemented by anodically bonding the glass cap wafer to both sides of the micromirror.

The quality factor of the packaged mirror is 1923 for the horizontal scan, whereas that of the device in the air is 649.6.

The estimated vacuum level of the package is 1.65 ± 0.85 Torr.

Graphical abstract

Perspective view of the vacuum-packaged micromirror.

[DISPLAY OMISSION]
