The purpose of this study is to examine the phonological awareness ability of preschool children with speech disorders. Subjects were composed of 18 articulatorily-disordered preschool children and 18 phonologically-disordered children of 4-6 years old. Percent of correct consonants and phonological awareness ability were tested. Results showed as follows: First, there was no remarkable difference between the two groups in percent of correct consonants. Second, the average of the total scores of the phonological awareness test showed a remarkable difference between the two groups. The same result was found in the small groups classified by the age. Because there was a remarkable difference in the phonological awareness ability in the test groups, the phonological awareness ability can be employed as an important parameter to distinguish articulatorily-disordered children from phonologically-disordered children.
영산강 하구의 2011년 하계 홍수시 퇴적물이동 수치모의

영산강 하구는 하구둑 및 방조제 건설등의 개발 사업으로 해수유동 체계에 변화가 발생하였으며, 인위적인 하구둑 운영에 의해서 담수 방류가 조절되어 자연적인 하구와는 다른 하구순환 형태를 나타내며, 하천 기원 퇴적물의 유입이 제한적이다. 하구둑 방류가 빈번한 하계의 하구 퇴적물 이동양상과 수지를 파악하기 위하여 3차원 수치모델인 EFDC를 적용하였다. 외력 및 육상 유입 조건을 실시간으로 입력하고, 연구지역의 퇴적물 입도특성을 바탕으로 모래, 실트, 점토의 다중 입경을 적용하여 모델링을 수행하였다. 관측 조석, 조류와 부유사 농도에 대하여 보정 검정된 모델링 결과에 의하면, 2011년 8월에 부유 퇴적물은 표층에서 외해방향으로 이동하지만 중 저층에서는 하구 내측으로 이동한다. 하구둑 방류에 기인한 하구순환에 의해 실트 크기 입자에 의한 퇴적이 우세하게 나타나며, 점토 크기 입자는 대부분 하구 내에서 순환을 반복하는 양상을 보였다. The hydrodynamics in the Youngsan River Estuary has changed due to coastal developments such as the estuary dam and two tidal barriers. As the freshwater discharge is artificially controlled, the circulation pattern is different from those of natural estuaries and the river-born sediment supply is restricted. 3D numerical modeling system EFDC was applied to investigate the sediment transport pattern and budget in summer with river floods. The real-time driving forces and the fluvial sediment discharges from the watershed modeling were assigned for the simulation period. The size classes of sand, silt and clay were adopted based on the grain-size distribution of bottom sediments. The modeling results were calibrated and validated with the observed tides, tidal currents and suspended sediment concentrations. The suspended sediments are transported to the offshore at surface layer, whereas upstream toward the dam at mid- and bottom layers in August 2011. The characteristic estuarine circulation induced by the freshwater discharge from the dam, causes the deposition of silt-sized sediments on the whole and the sustained suspension of clay-sized sediments.

This study was conducted to analyze the starch and pasting properties of fourteen glutinous rice varieties with different maturity, and we compared the textural characteristic difference in relation to stickiness of glutinous rice cake. The whiteness alues of grain appearance showed significantly differences in the order of early ˂ medium < mid-late maturing glutinous rice varieties. Early maturing glutinous rice varieties exhibited a little high tendency for crude protein content than that of other varieties. Mid-late glutinous rice varieties showed higher of short chain ratio of 6 to 12 in DP of amylopectin whereas, medium length chains of 13 to 24 were significantly low. According to Rapid Visco-Analyzer measurement glutinous rice flours and starches, peak time showed high negative correlation with short chains of 6 to 12 in DP. The hardness of mid-late maturing glutinous rice cake was distinctly lower than that of the other glutinous rice varieties. Furthermore, mid-late maturing glutinous rice varieties, Baegseolchal, Dongjinchal and Baekogchal tend to show lower and slower in hardness changes of rice cake during storage. The hardness changes of glutinous rice cake had positive correlation with the amylose content and peak time and negative correlation with short chains of 6 to 12 in DP of amylopectin, respectively.
Exosomal PD-L1 promotes tumor growth through immune escape in non-small cell lung cancer

Programmed cell death protein-1/programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-1/PD-L1) pathway blockade is a promising new cancer therapy. Although PD-1/PD-L1 treatment has yielded clinical benefits in several types of cancer, further studies are required to clarify predictive biomarkers for drug efficacy and to understand the fundamental mechanism of PD-1/PD-L1 interaction between host and tumor cells. Here, we show that exosomes derived from lung cancer cells express PD-L1 and play a role in immune escape by reducing T-cell activity and promoting tumor growth. The abundance of PD-L1 on exosomes represented the quantity of PD-L1 expression on cell surfaces. Exosomes containing PD-L1 inhibited interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) secretion by Jurkat T cells. IFN-γ secretion was restored by PD-L1 knockout or masking on the exosomes. Both forced expression of PD-L1 on cells without PD-L1 and treatment with exosomes containing PD-L1 enhanced tumor growth in vivo. PD-L1 was present on exosomes isolated from the plasma of patients with non-small cell lung cancer, and its abundance in exosomes was correlated with PD-L1 positivity in tumor tissues. Exosomes can impair immune functions by reducing cytokine production and inducing apoptosis in CD8+ T cells. Our findings indicate that tumor-derived exosomes expressing PD-L1 may be an important mediator of tumor immune escape.
