In this study, the effect of the size of B powder on the critical current density (Jc) of MgB2 prepared by an in situ reaction process was investigated. Various combinations of B powders were made using a micron B, ball-milled B and nano B powders. Micron B powder was reduced by ball milling and the milled B powder was mixed with the micron B or nano B powder. The mixing ratios of the milled B and micron or nano B were 100:0, 50:50 and 0:100. Non-milled micron B powder was also mixed with nano powder in the same ratios. Pellets of (2B+Mg) prepared with various B mixing ratios were heat-treated to form MgB2. Tc of MgB2 decreased slightly when the milled B was used, whereas the Jc of MgB2 increased with increasing amount of the milled B or the nano powder. The used of the milled B and nano B power promoted the formation MgB2 during heat treatment. In addition to the enhanced formation of MgB2, the use of the powders reduced the grain size of MgB2. The use of the milled and nano B powder increased the Jc of MgB2. The highest Jc was achieved when 100% nano B powder was used. The Jc enhancement is attributed to the high volume fraction of the superconducting phase (MgB2) and the large grain boundaries, which induces the flux pinning at the magnetic fields.

Comparison of 90‐day case‐fatality after ischemic stroke between two different stroke outcome registries using propensity score matching analysis. Acta Neurol Scand: 2011: 123: 325–331. © 2010 John Wiley & Sons A/S.</P><P><B>Background – </B> It has not been clarified whether the disparity in ischemic stroke outcome between populations is caused by ethnic and geographic differences or by variations in case mix. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis can overcome some analytical problems but is rarely used in stroke outcome research. This study was to compare the ischemic stroke case‐fatality between two PSM cohorts of Sweden and Korea.</P><P><B>Methods – </B> Prognostic variables related to baseline characteristics and stroke care were included in our PSM model. Then, we selected 7675 Swedish and 1220 Korean patients with ischemic stroke from each stroke registers and performed one‐to‐one matching based on propensity scores of each patient.</P><P><B>Results – </B> After PSM, all measured variables were well balanced in 1163 matched subjects, and the 90‐day case‐fatality was identical 6.2% (HR 0.997, 95%CI 0.905–1.099) in Sweden and Korea.</P><P><B>Conclusions – </B> No difference is found in the 90‐day case‐fatality in propensity score‐matched Swedish and Korean patients with ischemic stroke.</P>

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the stress and the physical activity according to working in Korean adolescents. Methods: Data were collected from 3 high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The total number of four hundred twenty subjects were participated and they completed general questionnaire, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (Korean version) and adolescents stress scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and t-test using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The number of employed was 151 (45.2%) and the number of unemployed was 183 (54.8%). Reasons for working were to earn money (44.0%) and to purchase significant product (35.6%). Moderate physical activities of employed students were more than them of unemployed students and there was significant difference (t=3.261, p˂.001). There was no significant difference between employed and unemployed students in the total score of stress. However, there were significant differences on school stress (t=2.854, p=.005) and economical stress (t=3.959, p˂.001) in the subcategory. The stress of employed was higher than the stress of unemployed. Conclusion: As shown in the above result, employed adolescents reported higher levels of both physical activity and stress than unemployed adolescents, thus indicating that employment status of adolescents has a significant impact on physical and mental health. Nursing implications include developing quality care for employed adolescents based on the community health nursing, and providing health education at schools in terms of adolescent employment.

<P>The production performance, efficacy, and safety of two types of vaccines for infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) were compared with in-ovo vaccination of Cobb 500 broiler chickens for gross and microscopic examination of the bursa of Fabricius, bursa/body weight (b/B) ratio, flow cytometry, and serologic response to Newcastle disease virus (NDV) vaccination. One vaccine was a recombinant HVT-IBD vector vaccine (HVT as for herpesvirus of turkeys) and the other was an intermediate plus live IBDV vaccine. A significant difference was detected at 21 d. Eight of 10 chickens that received the IBDV live vaccine had severe bursal lesions and a relatively low b/B ratio of 0.95, and an inhibited NDV vaccine response. On the other hand, the HVT-IBD vector vaccine resulted in mild bursal lesions and a b/B ratio of 1.89. Therefore, the live vaccine had lower safety than that of the HVT-IBD vector vaccine. To determine the protective efficacy, chickens were intraocularly challenged at 24 d. Eight of 10 chickens in the IBDV live vaccination group showed gross and histological lesions characterized by hemorrhage, cyst formation, lymphocytic depletion, and a decreased b/B ratio. In contrast, the HVT-IBD vector vaccinated chickens showed mild gross and histological lesions in three of 10 chickens with a b/B ratio of 1.36, which was similar to that of the unchallenged controls. Vaccinated chickens showed a significant increase in IBDV antibody titers, regardless of the type of vaccine used. In addition, significantly better broiler flock performance was observed with the HVT-IBD vector vaccine compared to that of the live vaccine. Our results revealed that the HVT-IBD vector vaccine could be used as an alternative vaccine to increase efficacy, and to have an improved safety profile compared with the IBDV live vaccine using in-ovo vaccination against the Korean very virulent IBDV in commercial broiler chickens.</P>

Kang, ]. Y. Kim(Graduated School of Dong- A L'niv'>, T. W. Lee(Changwon CQUage), S. S. Chung, ]. Y. Ha(Dong-A Univ,)<br/> ABSTRACT<br/> To investigate the method of the simultaneous reduction of Soot and NOx, we developed a new conception for dual fuel stratified injection system in a Diesel Engine.<br/> Some parts of the injection system, ie. nozzle holder, delivery vale. were remodeled to inject diesel and methanol in order from one injector. The Quantity of diesel and methanol was controled precisely by micrometers that were mounted at control lack of injection pump.<br/> The real injection Quantity ratio of dual fuel was certificated by volumetric ratio at injection Quantity experiment. We could confirm the capability that soot and NOx simultaneously were reduced by diesel-methanol stratified injection from the results of combustion and exhaust characteristic.<br/>
