This study aimed to explore the relationship between school principals’ learning-centered leadership (LCL) and teacher professional learning (TPL) and the mediating effect of school climate (SC) on this relationship. The sample consisted of 500 middle and secondary school teachers working at urban schools in a large province in the Mediterranean region of Türkiye. A causal relation model was employed. The results indicated that school principals’ LCL affected TPL both directly and indirectly. LCL had a statistically significant and positive effect on SC. SC was detected to have a positive and significant effect on TPL. Furthermore, LCL had a positive and significant effect on TPL, and SC had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between LCL and TPL. The study recommends further research on a multilevel analysis of teacher individual variables and organizational variables to explore the linkage between LCL, TPL, and SC.

Characterized reference materials (RMs) are needed for clinical laboratory test development and validation, quality control procedures, and proficiency testing to assure their quality. In this article, we review the development and characterization of RMs for clinical molecular genetic tests. We describe various types of RMs and how to access and utilize them, especially focusing on the Genetic Testing Reference Materials Coordination Program (Get-RM) and the Genome in a Bottle (GIAB) Consortium. This review also reinforces the need for collaborative efforts in the clinical genetic testing community to develop additional RMs.

This research work presents a comparative study of the tensile properties of polylactic acid (PLA) specimens per ASTM D638-14 fabricated by compression molding and 3D printing. PLA pellets from one batch are used in compression molding and filament extrusion for 3D printing. The compression molding process parameters are optimized to obtain an upper limit for mechanical properties of PLA specimens. Design of experiments (DoE) is used to evaluate the effect of processing temperature, pressure, and dwell time on the tensile properties of the specimens. The optimum compression molding trial resulted in slightly higher modulus for tensile specimens compared to 3D printing (3.33 GPa versus 3.22 GPa), while the average tensile strength was almost identical (59.9 MPa). Water absorption test is performed to evaluate moisture absorption of tensile specimens and compare their tensile properties in water saturated condition to the properties of dry specimens. 3D printed specimens showed a significant degradation of their tensile strength and modulus in water saturated condition by 28.4 % and 7.2 %, respectively. On the other hand, the tensile strength of the optimum compression molded specimens was decreased by only 12.0 %, while there was an increase of 14.1 % in tensile modulus.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic condition that impacts quality of life and functionality for which consumers often seek dietary supplements to provide some relief. The purpose of this double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was to assess the safety and efficacy of a water-soluble chicken eggshell membrane hydrosylate (WSEM) dietary supplement (BiovaFlex®) 450 mg daily on knee function, mobility, and general health and well-being in 88 adults with OA randomized into intervention (n = 44) or placebo (n = 44) groups. Outcomes were assessed periodically over 12 weeks, including the Western Ontario McMaster Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), the six-minute walk test (6MWT), knee range of motion (ROM) testing, and safety. Normalized analysis (improvement over baseline) showed that the poorest initial performers benefited the greatest from the WSEM by day 5 in the 6MWT, with the rest of the population showing significant improvement over placebo by week 12. The normalized WOMAC Stiffness score was also significantly improved over placebo by day 5 (P < .05). Without normalization, no statistically significant improvements were seen in WOMAC, 6MWT, and ROM testing. The Product was also found to be safe in this study. In conclusion, daily consumption of WSEM significantly enhanced average individual physical capacity (walking distance and ability), reduced stiffness by the fifth day of supplementation with the greatest benefit seen by the most compromised individuals, and was maintained over 12 weeks. A WSEM dietary supplement may offer a safe option for relief from symptoms and increased mobility for those with OA.
Nonlinear Quasi-localized Charge Approximation in a Strongly Coupled Classical Bilayer

Within the framework of the quasi-localized charge approximation, the Lagrange’s equation of collective modes in a strongly coupled classical bilayer liquid can be generalized beyond the harmonic approximation into the nonlinear regime up to the quadratic order.
