        Clinicopathological role of kidney injury molecule-1 in immunoglobulin A nephropathy

        Background: Urinary kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) is an early and sensitivebiomarker of acute kidney injury, but it is unclear if it is a biomarker of chronicglomerulonephritis. We evaluated whether urinary KIM-1 levels in patients withimmunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy can be a marker to reflect clinicopathologicalseverity and predict the prognosis. Methods: We measured urinary KIM-1 levels in 40 patients (15 males; mean age36.6712.9 years) with IgA nephropathy and 10 healthy people (5 males; mean age37.379.6 years) as controls. The correlation of urinary KIM-1 levels with patients’clinical parameters, histological grades, and follow-up data were analyzed using themodified H. S. Lee grading system and tubulointerstitial change scores. Results: Urinary KIM-1 levels were higher in patients with IgA nephropathy thanhealthy controls (P¼0.001). Univariate and multivariate regression analyses showedthat urinary KIM-1 levels had a direct correlation with H. S. Lee grade andtubulointerstitial inflammation (P¼0.004 and P¼0.011, respectively). Conclusion: In patients with IgA nephropathy, urinary KIM-1 has a significantcorrelation with histopathologic severity.

        Spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage due to hemophilia A with impaired coagulopathy is very rare. Spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage has been recorded as having originated from many retroperitoneal organs and blood vessels, and it may be due to local and/or systemic factors. In the majority of the patients, kidney and adrenal gland were the major site of hemorrhage. The systemic causes of spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage are anticoagulation therapy and chronic hemodialysis. During the course of these treatments, hemorrhagic complications may occur at many site, including the retroperitoneal space. Blood dyscrasias including leukemia, polycythemia, sickle cell trait and hemophilia have been reported associated with spontaneous retroperitoneal hemorrhage.       • Breeding of Tetraploid in Codonopsis lanceolata (Sieb. et Zucc.) Trautvetter by Colchicine Treatment

        Present studies were carried out to produce tetraploid plants by colchicine treatment using seeds, seedlings and shoot tips of Codonopsis lanceolata. Three tetraploid plants of C. lanceolata were produced from seeds which absorbed 0.1 % colchicine solution for 12 hours, and 0.5% colchicine solution for 1 and 6 hours from seedlings, respectively. But tetraploid was not produced from shoot tips treated by colchicine solution. Compared to diploid, tetraploid plants had larger stomata, but less number of stomata. Fresh weight of tetraploid plants was 1.4∼3.6 times heavier than diploid plants.

        Present studies were carried out to produce tetraploid plants by colchicine treatment using seeds, seedlings and shoot tips of Platycodon grandiflorum in Campanulaceae. The most successful colchicine treatment for tetraploid production in P. grandiflorum was soaking treatment using 0.01 and 0.5% colchicine solution for 1 hour and 12 hours, respectively. Morphological characteristics of both diploid and tetraploid were similar, but tetraploid plants had more leaves. Compared to diploid, tetraploid had the larger stomata, but less number of stomata. Fresh weight of tetraploids was 20∼40% heavier than that of diploid.

      • 흰쥐에 있어서 Sparganum의 移行과 發育에 관한 硏究

        This study was carried out to investigate the migration and development of the Sparganum in rats and the changes of haematological values in the hosts infected with Sparganum. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The recovery rate of the Sparganum in the infected rats was 57 per cent on the autopical findings of the infected individual rats during observations from 2 hours to 32 days after infection with Sparganum. 2. The larval Sparganum was found in the digestive tract within two hours after administration with oral route and then, the worms began to penetrate and migrate via the abdominal cavity within 4 to 6 hours and the worms were found in the muscular tissues 2 days onwards after infections. 3. The infected Sparganum began to deveolp the size of the body from 4 day after infection and then, the size of the Sparganum was measured by 52.9mm long and 3.2mm broad on 32 days after infection . 4. In the haematological observation of the host the red blood cell values changed little, while the white blood cells were increased significantly during 2 days after infection and thereafter they were recovered to the normal values.

        In this paper, effective test generation language is suggested and it is applied to boundary-scan architecture boards test. Suggested test vector can generate boundary-scan signals which need for board test. A system can be consist of these boards and each board can parallel in board test. It bring large mount of adventage for speed and space.

        Since 1996, many Korean companies such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai Motor Company, have adopted Six Sigma in order to get a competitive edge in the global marketplace. There are, however, many problems to be solved for successfully implementing Six Sigma in an organization. As is known, one of the key principles of Six Sigma is a data-based management or a decision making based on data. Therefore, Six Sigma requires more measurement than ever, which makes measurement system analysis more important. Usually, a gage R&R study is performed to identify the measurement system's variation relative to process variation. In the study, a gage R&R study is considered for the case where measuring a major quality characteristic accompanies a destructive testing. We suggest a gage R&R study using a screening variable that is highly correlated with the major quality characteristic and also can be measured by a nondestructive testing method. It is assumed that the major quality characteristic and a screening variable have a bivariate normal distribution. A simulation study on the proposed method is performed and we compare it with the conventional gage R&R study for a destructive testing.

      • 초정밀가공기를 이용한 Zerodur의 연삭 특성에 관한 연구

        We explored a new rough grinding technique on optics materials such as Zerodur. The facility used is a NANOFORM-600 diamond turning machine with a custom grinding module and a range of diamond resin bond wheel. The grinding parameters such as workpiece rotation speed, depth of cut and feed rate were altered while grinding the workpiece surfaces of 20mm in diameter. Surface roughness is measured by Form Talysurf series2. Our target is to define grinding conditions producing the surface roughness better than 0.02μm Ra and the form accuracy of around 0.2μm PV.

        Infra-structure : 도시공간의 연속성을 위한 건축적 방법 제안 : 울산광역시 북구 효문역을 중심으로

        Contemporary urban's expansion is accomplished continuously and quickly. However, high completion urban infra such as road and railroad acts as an obstruction cause upon big space about quick change of contemporary urban's structure. The research is to define threshold's concept in the urban space, to analyze meaning and cause of urban space's interruption by urban infra, to construct plan in order to solve it. Recently the existing cities' developments have been partial except newtown plan, and progressed in several in South Korea. The fact is that an existence of high completion urban infra element is a main cause, so that a continuity of urban flow is absent, and it is hard to have an integrative and sequential progress in point of urban development. In addition, development speed around infra is lowed, ghettoization is given. In order to solve the problem, the urban infra pointed out as a main problem should be accommodated, urban context's continuity should be recovered through passive design method that inserts municipal structure system for macro urban development. Expected pursuit through the method is summarized like following four theme. First, the urban flow's continuity is granted. The linear urban infra passing over the urban center by urban's expansion acts as an obstruction cause, so the continuity of urban flow is recovered through design parameter's insertion on the boundary. Second the design method of transfer system is suggested through complexed transportation infra, and fortified position is acquired in order to connect transportation of inter-city later on. The target place is composed of spaces functioned as station buildings at past, it will be used as a terminal station of SLRT which would be established later. Because a large dwelling site and circulation complex have been progressed around the target place, the place will function as fortified position of transportation connecting cities as well as suggesting architecturalization of transfer system interlocking rail-light rail-bus. Third complexed function related with round program is conducted. The existing target place is used as farmland, but it will be changed on functional view totally by recent public land development and circulation complex plan. Complexed cultural commercial space related with expected program has been planed. Forth, formation of roadside's landscape in urban scale is incited. The target place is a field existing urban infra associated with a industrial road and rail as well as an entrance to Ulsan Bukgu, so visual architecture seen by driving road and railroad would be produced.
