<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Objective</B></P><P>This study was undertaken to generate and characterize human induced pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) from patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and to examine whether these cells can be developed into disease‐relevant cell types for use in disease modeling and drug discovery.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Human synovial cells isolated from two 71‐year‐old women with advanced OA were characterized and reprogrammed into induced PSCs by ectopic expression of 4 transcription factors (Oct‐4, SOX2, Klf4, and c‐Myc). The pluripotency status of each induced PSC line was validated by comparison with human embryonic stem cells (ESCs).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>We found that OA patient–derived human synovial cells had human mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)–like characteristics, as indicated by the expression of specific markers, including CD14−, CD19−, CD34−, CD45−, CD44+, CD51+, CD90+, CD105+, and CD147+. Microarray analysis of human MSCs and human synovial cells further determined their unique and overlapping gene expression patterns. The pluripotency of established human induced PSCs was confirmed by their human ESC–like morphology, expression of pluripotency markers, gene expression profiles, epigenetic status, normal karyotype, and in vitro and in vivo differentiation potential. The potential of human induced PSCs to differentiate into distinct mesenchymal cell lineages, such as osteoblasts, adipocytes, and chondrocytes, was further confirmed by positive expression of markers for respective cell types and positive staining with alizarin red S (osteoblasts), oil red O (adipocytes), or Alcian blue (chondrocytes). Functional chondrocyte differentiation of induced PSCs in pellet culture and 3‐dimensional polycaprolactone scaffold culture was assessed by chondrocyte self‐assembly and histology.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Our findings indicate that patient‐derived synovial cells are an attractive source of MSCs as well as induced PSCs and have the potential to advance cartilage tissue engineering and cell‐based models of cartilage defects.</P>

근대불교잡지 특히 『불교』(1924.7-1933.7)에는 해외의 불교연구, 과학지식, 문학 작품 등 경전의 번역을 넘어서는 다양한 번역이 혼재되어 있다. 또 근대의 변화를 인식하면서 그 시대에 불경 번역의 당위성을 제시하고 방법론을 모색한 불교 지성의 논설이 적지 않게 수록되어 있다. 이러한 정황은 그동안 선행연구자들이 근대불교 지성의 번역에 대한 인식과 당대인의 실천을 소극적으로 파악했던 것에 대한 반성적 고찰을 요한다. 이 시기 전개된 번역담론으로는 권상로의 조선글화엄경을 보고 (불교43호, 1928.1), 백성욱의 역경의 필요는 ? (불교 58호, 1929.4), 김법린의 민중본위적 불교운동의 제창 (일광 2호, 1929.9), 이대문제(일광 3호, 1931.3) 에 대한 김법린과 한용운의 답변, 같은 질문에 대한 답변으로서 박한영의 설창한화 (일광 3호,1931.3), 한용운의 조선불교의 개혁안 ( 불교 88호, 1931.10) 과 역경의 급무 ((신) 불교 3집 1937.5) 등이 있다. 본고의 2 장에서는 근대불교 번역론에 대한 최근의 연구사를 검토하고 불교잡지 번역담론 연구의 필요성을 제기하였다. 3장에서는『불교』를 중심으로 1920-30 년대 불교 잡지의 번역 담론을 조사하고 그 특징을 도출하였다. 그 결과「조선글화엄경」(1927, 1928) 간행 이후 박한영, 권상로, 한용운, 백성욱, 김법린 등 불교계를 대표하는 지성들 이 형식적 다양성을 지향하는 번역론을 전개했으며, 문화와 문학적 번역의 가치를 긍정하는 방향으로 논의를 전개했음을 확인하였다. 『불교』를 비롯한 1920-30년대 불교잡지의 번역담론은 백용성의「조선글화엄경」출간으로 촉발되었고 그 논리가 심화된 것으로 평가할 수 있다. Modern Buddhist journals, especially the magazine Bulgyo (Buddhism) published between 1920s and 1930s contains various translations covering overseas Buddhist research, scientific knowledge, poetry, novels, etc., more than the those of scriptures. These journals also present the various discourses by Buddhist intellectuals on the method of translation. This circumstance requires a reflective review on the fact that previous researchers have passively explored the modern Buddhist leading intellectuals’ view of translation. Therefore, in Chapter 2, this study reviews recent research on the modern Buddhist translations and raises the need for research on translation discourses through Bulgyo. In Chapter 3, this study explores in detail the translation discourses appearing in Bulgyo between 1920s and 1930s and extracted their characteristics. As a result, it was confirmed that such intellectuals representing the Buddhist world as Park Han-yeong, Kwon Sang-ro, Han Yong-un, Baek Seong-uk and Kim Beop-rin, etc. developed a translation theory aimed at formal diversity and that the discussions were developed in the direction of affirming the value of culture and literary translation. The publication of Joseongeul Hwaeom-gyeong (Avatamsaka Stutra in Korean 1927, 1928) by Baek Yong-seong is followed by active discussions related to the translation work. Bulgyo and other magazines ( 彙報 ) and journals ( 宗報 ) contain articles on Joseongeul Hwaeom-gyeong. Various articles, commentaries, and advertisements of Buddhism were triggered by the publication of Joseongeul Hwaeom‐ gyeong, with the development of logic in depth.

온라인 플랫폼서비스 이용증가, 코로나19 등으로 농식품 온라인 유통채널이 급성장하면서 온-오프라인 간 혹은 오프라인과 온라인 내부의 세부 채널 간의 경쟁이 심화되고 있다. 이러한 환경변화에 따라 가구의 농식품 소매 유통채널의 선택 및 구매액에 대한 정량적 분석 자료는 정부 및 관련 업체들의 정책 및 전략 수립에 중요한 기초자료로 필요성이 크다. 본 연구는 이러한 맥락에서 농식품 소매 유통채널의 판매액 결정요인 및 이들 채널 간의 경쟁관계를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 첫째, 농식품 소매 유통채널의 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인은 세부 채널별로 매우 상이하다. 둘째, 온라인 유통채널의 구매액은 주구입자 연령과 소득에 의해 결정되나 오프라인 구매액은 가구원 수의 영향이 큰 것으로 추정되었다. 더하여 세부 채널별 구매액은 온-오프라인뿐만 아니라 세부 채널 간에도 상당한 차이가 존재한다. 셋째, 온라인과 오프라인 유통채널은 대체 관계로 추정되었으나 온라인 혹은 오프라인 내의 세부 채널들은 보완적인 것으로 추정되었다.

<P>We have developed a facile and rapid synthesis of a highly fluorescent nanocrystal (NC) library, based on ultrasonic and combinatorial chemistry. Among a total of 66 tZAIS ((Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Ag<SUB><I>y</I></SUB>In<SUB><I>z</I></SUB>)S<SUB>2</SUB>) NCs, many NCs are highly fluorescent upon UV irradiation, and are categorized into blue, green, yellow, orange, and red by their distinct emission wavelength ranges. The tZAIS NCs not only have long fluorescence lifetimes, but also show comparable or even higher brightness than QDs without photoblinking in single NC analysis. Their unique photophysical properties together with less-toxic nature can permit the tZAIS system to be practically utilized in various bioimaging fields, especially single nanoparticle-based imaging and tracking.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>The (Zn<SUB><I>x</I></SUB>Ag<SUB><I>y</I></SUB>In<SUB><I>z</I></SUB>)S<SUB>2</SUB> nanocrystal library based sono-combichem method can be utilized in bioimaging due to their unique photophysical properties such as brightness, non-blinking, long fluorescence lifetime, and less-toxic nature. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c2jm31838e'> </P>
Effect of Various Intercalators on the Fenton-Type Oxidative Cleavage of Double-Stranded DNA

<P>The intensity of the linear dichroism (LD) in the absorption region of DNA (about 260?nm) decreased with time in the presence of [Fe(EDTA)](2+) (EDTA = ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid), H2O2, and ascorbate. The decrease in the LD signal indicated either an increase in flexibility, a shortening of the DNA stem, or both, owing to oxidative cleavage, and was best described by the difference between the two single-exponential-decay curves, thereby suggesting the involvement of two sequential first-order reactions. The fast reaction was assigned to cleavage of one of two DNA strands, which increased the flexibility of the DNA. The slow reaction corresponded to cleavage at or near the first cleavage site, thereby shortening the DNA stem. The presence of an intercalator, including ethidium, propidium, 9-aminoacridine, and proflavine, inhibited the first step of the cleavage reaction. One of the possible reasons for the observed inhibition might be a change in the DNA conformation near the intercalation site. Intercalation caused an unwinding and elongation of the DNA and resulted in changes in the location of the H?atoms of the sugar moiety, which is known to be the main site at which hydroxyl radicals react.</P>
