Children's place making was analyzed in neighborhood environments of an apartment site. Open-ended interviews of 34 children, behavior observations of children in neighborhood spaces, and behavior mapping of the places were performed to investigate what were the neighborhood places important to children's everyday life, how they emerged, and what meanings these places had to the children. Ten different places were mentioned as important setting in their neighborhood. These places coincided the locations where behavior observations showed the children were engaged in neighborhood activities most often. This indicates that place and activity correlate. These places were important because they provided settings for social contacts/interactions (including meeting friends), recurrent habitualized activities (including plays), and memories of past events. Important also were physical conditions that helped the children have these experiences. Overall, the analysis indicates that activity is the most important aspect of the place experience, along with friends and play colleagues to share the activities, memories of past events associated with the places, and physical properties of the places supporting the activity experience.

Neonatal lupus is a rare syndrome occurring In neonates with tranplacentally acquired maternal autoantibodies, In particular anti-SSA/Ro-SSB/Ra antibodies. Manifestations include congenital heart block, cutaneous lesions, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, pulmonary or neurological disease and hepatitis. The non-cardiac manifestations resolve by 6 months of age, congenital heart block is irreversible. We experienced a case of neonatal lupus with congenital complete heart block in a newborn of asyptomatic mother with anti-SSA/Ro-SSB/Ra antibodies.
위궤양에 대한 Teprenone(Selbex^�)의 임상효과

The study objective was to assess the ulcer healing effects of Teprenone, stimulator of mucus production, given in dose of 50mg tid. We reviewed 25 cases of gastric ulcer proven endoscopically and treated by Teprenone. The results were follows; 1) The healing rate of gastric ulcer was 72% after 8 weeks treatment. 2) Subjective symptoms such as epigastric pain, belching, nausea, anorexia and vomiting were subsided at 86%. 3) There were not developed any symptoms, signs and laboratory abnormality (CBC, liver funtion test, urinalysis) suggesting side effect of drugs. In conclusion, Teprenone was considered an effective and safe drug in the treatment of gastric ulcer diseases.

Nizatidine is a newly introduced potent H2-receptor antagonist of acid secretion with long duration of action. For evaluation of clinical efficancy and safety, twenty one patients with endoscopically proved thirteen gastric ulcers and eight duodenal ulcers were treated with nizatidine 300mg at bed time via per os for 6 weeks. The results were as follows 1. The rate of complete endoscopic healing of duodenal ulcer 92.3% and 87.5% after 6 weeks. The overall healing rate of peptic ulcer was achieved in 89.9% at 6 weeks. 2. Clinical symptoms disappeared in 84.6%, 92.3% and 100% of patients with duodenal ulcer and 75.0%, 87.5% and 87.5% patients with gastric ulcer at 2, 4 and 6 weeks respectively. 3. There were not developed any symptoms and signs suggesting side effect of drug. In conclusion, data from this study suggest that nizatidine 300mg p.o. at sleeping time is effective and safe in treatment of peptic ulcer disease, and is well tolerated on a short-term basis.

호수 유입 하천인 황강의 1996~2001년 년도별 평균 수질은 COD 3.1~4,2 mg/L, T-N 2.460~3.550 mg/L, T-P 0.111~0.201 mg/L이였다. 호수내의 평균 수질은 COD가 1996년 1.9 mg/L에서 2001년 2.7 mg/L로 매년 조금씩 종가하는 것으로 나타났다. 호수내의 1996~2001년 년도별 평균 T-N 농도는 1.393~l.792 mg/L 이었으며, T-P농도는 0.018~0.023 mg/L 이였다. 식물성 플랑크톤의 발생 정도를 나타내는 Chl-α와 T-N, T-P와의 상관계수는 각각 0,382, 0.372였으며, 또한 수온과 강우량에 대한 상관계수는 각각 0.589, 0,526이였다. 따라서 합천댐의 경우 식물성 플랑크톤의 발생이 T-N, T-P보다 수온 및 강수량과 더 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 호수의 영양단계는 중영양~부영양 단계에 있는 것으로 평가되었다. The yearly average water qualifies of the Whang river, which flows into the Hapcheon lake, were COD 3.1~4.2 mg/L, T-N 2.460~3.550 mg/L, and T-P 0.111~0.201 mg/L during 1996~2001. The yearly average COD concentration of Hapcheon lake was increased from 1.9 mg/L (in 1996) to 2.7 mg/L (in 2000). However, T-N and T-P concentration of Hapcheon lake did not show increasing trend over the 6 year period. During 1996~2001, the yearly average concentrations of T-N, T-P were 1.383?1.792 mg/L, 0.018~0.023 mg/L, respectively. The correlation coefficients between chlorophyll α and T-N, T-P, rainfall intensity, water temperature were 0.382, 0372, 0.589, and 0.526, respectively. Therefore, the rainfall and water temperature appeared to play an important role for the variations of chlorophyll α concentration in the Hapcheon lake. Trophic state of the Hapcheon lake were evaluated to be in the range of mesotrophic to eutrophic.

농어촌 등에서 소규모로 발생하는 하수를 환경친화적이고 높은 하수처리효율을 유지하면서 하수처리장의 장기간 사용을 위한 최적의 여재를 선정하기 위하며 자연정화공법을 이용한 소형하수처리장치를 호기성조 및 혐기성조로 구분하여 시공한 다음, 하수처리량 및 여재 입경별 수처리 효율을 조사하였고, 호기성조와 혐기성조에서 여재 입경별 하수의 투수속도를 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 호기성조 처리수 및 방류수중의 pH 및 EC는 여제입경에 따라서 별 차이가 없었고, 용존산소는 호기성조를 동과한 호기성조 처리수의 용존산소는 큰 폭으로 증가하였으나 혐기성조를 통과한 방류수의 용존산소는 호기성조 처리수에 비해 약간 감소하여 여재입경 및 하수처리량에 따라서 별 차이가 없이 약 2.4~5.1 mg/L정도이었다. BOD,000 및 탁도 처리율은 여재 대(4~10 mm)를 사용했을 경우에도 호기성조 처리수에서 BOD 처리율은 약 91%이상, COD 처리율은 73%이상, 탁도 처리율은 83%이상이었으며, 이들 처리율은 여재입경이 작을수록 증가하였고 모든 조건에서 방류수중의 BOD 처리율은 98%이상, COD 처리율은 91%이상, 탁도 처리율은 98%이상이었다. 여재입경별 총 질소 및 총 인 처리율은 여재입경이 작을수록 약간 증가하였고, 모든 조건에서 방류수중의 총 질소 처리율은 약 45~59%, 총 인 처리율은 약 80~96% 정도이었다. 하수 처리율 및 투수속도를 고려해 볼 때 하수처리장 호기성조의 최적입경은 2~4 mm정도 혐기성조의 최적입경은 0.1~4 mm정도가 적절한 젓으로 사료되었다. 따라서 이러한 조건을 자연정화공법을 이용한 하수처리장에 적용하면 높은 하수처리효율을 유지하면서 하수처리장의 공극폐쇄현상이 일어나지 않아 장기간 운전할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. An investigation was carried out to evaluate the effects of pebble size on the small-scale sewage treatment apparatus by natural purification method that consisted of aerobic and anaerobic plot pH and EC in both plots varied minimally regardless of pebble size. DO in aerobic plot increased as the pebble size decreased. That in the anaerobic plot was slightly less in comparison with that of the aerobic plot, but varied minimally, 2.4~5.1 mg/L regardless of pebble size. Under all experimental conditions, removals of BOD, COD and turbidity in anaerobic plot were more than 98, 91 and respectively. Removals of T-N and T-P increased as pebble size decreased. Under all experimental conditions, removals of T-N and T-P in anaerobic plot were about 45~59 and 80~96%, respectively. Judging from the above results, it should be considered that the optimum pebble size and pebble permeability in both plot was 2~4 mm and 0.1~4 mm, respectively.
Walnut Improves Particulate Matter (PM)<SUB>2.5</SUB>-Induced Neurotoxicity in HT22 Cells

This study was performed to evaluate the protective effect of ethyl acetate fraction from walnut (Gimcheon 1ho, GC) on particulate matter (PM)2.5-induced neurotoxicity in hippocampal HT-22 cells. The GC showed considerable total phenolics contents (TPC), total tannin contents (TTC) and total flavonoid contents (TFC). In addition, the GC presented significant 2,2’-azino-bis(3-ethyl benzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activities. Moreover, the GC presented significant antioxidant capacity by evaluating the ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) Furthermore, the GC showed the inhibitory effects of malondialdehyde (MDA) level and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. In the result of PM2.5-induced neurotoxicity in HT-22 cells, the GC decreased ROS production and increased cell viability. Finally, the GC ameliorated protein expression levels of p-JNK, BCl-2, BAX and caspase-1 related to cell death in PM2.5-induced neurotoxicity.
