Kim, Susie,Na, Seung-In,Yang, Youngtae,Kim, Hyunjong,Kim, Taehoon,Cho, Jun Soo,Kim, Jinhyung,Chang, Jin Woo,Kim, Suhwan The Institute of Electronics and Information Engin 2017 Journal of semiconductor technology and science Vol.17 No.1
In this paper, a $4{\times}32$-channel neural recording system capable of acquiring neural signals is introduced. Four 32-channel neural recording ICs, complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs), a micro controller unit (MCU) with USB interface, and a PC are used. Each neural recording IC, implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, includes 32 channels of analog front-ends (AFEs), a 32-to-1 analog multiplexer, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The mid-band gain of the AFE is adjustable in four steps, and have a tunable bandwidth. The AFE has a mid-band gain of 54.5 dB to 65.7 dB and a bandwidth of 35.3 Hz to 5.8 kHz. The high-pass cutoff frequency of the AFE varies from 18.6 Hz to 154.7 Hz. The input-referred noise (IRN) of the AFE is $10.2{\mu}V_{rms}$. A high-resolution, low-power ADC with a high conversion speed achieves a signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) of 50.63 dB and a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 63.88 dB, at a sampling-rate of 2.5 MS/s. The effectiveness of our neural recording system is validated in in-vivo recording of the primary somatosensory cortex of a rat.

Development of gamma-spectrum data generation method by Monte Carlo simulation
Kwon Jinhyung,Kim Jiseok,Kim Hanjin,Kim Song Hyun,Jang Seungsoo,Lee Janghee,Kim Young-su 한국물리학회 2023 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.82 No.7
A digital twin system for a gamma-ray spectrometer was developed using the Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation toolkit and a dedicated novel methodology. The model system was verifed to accurately represent the intrinsic characteristics of gammaray detection systems: not only Gaussian energy broadening caused by energy resolution, but also count loss and coincidence summing caused by the dead time and charge collection time, respectively, of the detector system. In order to represent the time-related phenomena, the results of the Monte Carlo simulation were printed out in list-mode data rather than (as in existing previous studies) as a simple energy spectrum. The list-mode data were then post-processed considering the characteristics of the gamma-ray detection systems. The model system was verifed by comparison with real-world experimental data using radiation sources (137Cs and 60Co) and a high-purity germanium detector, the results of which showed that the spectra generated by the model well matched the experimental spectra throughout the entire energy range (0–3 MeV), with correlations of 94.3 and 94.6% for 137Cs and 60Co, respectively.

One of the most important factors in using big data is the de-identification strategy. Non-identifiable information that does not identify personal information can only be used as a big data analysis and output. De-identification measures should be appropriately performed in accordance with the personal information application policy for the collection of big data types. De-identification is a policy that makes it impossible to identify an individual through deletion, substitution, etc., of all or some of the elements that can identify an individual in a big data set. Since the de-identification information is estimated as information other than personal information by establishing strategy, the information can be used or provided to a third party without consent from the information subject. Therefore, in the analysis of big data and utilization of the result it is the most important strategy. Although non-identified outputs are assumed to be non-personal information, essential management and technical safeguards should be implemented, as new binding techniques may appear or information that can be combined may be re-identified. Through this paper, we will examine the related strategies and implementation example.
Full three-dimensional power flow analysis of single-emitter-plasmonic-nanoantenna system.
Kim, Jinhyung,Song, Jung-Hwan,Jeong, Kwang-Yong,Ee, Ho-Seok,Seo, Min-Kyo Optical Society of America 2015 Optics express Vol.23 No.9

We present a full three-dimensional (3D) power flow analysis of an emitter-nanoantenna system. A conventional analysis, based on the total Poynting vector, calculates only the coupling strength in terms of the Purcell enhancement. For a better understanding of the emitter-nanoantenna system, not only the Purcell enhancement but also complete information on the energy transfer channels is necessary. The separation of the pure scattering and emitter output Poynting vectors enables the quantification of the individual energy transfer channels. Employing the finite-difference time-domain method (FDTD), we examine a nanodisk antenna that supports the bright dipole and dark quadrupole resonance modes for which the power flow characteristics are completely distinct, and we analyze the power flow enhancements to the energy transfer channels with respect to the wavelength, polarization, and position of the emitter coupled to the antenna. The 3D power flow analysis reveals how the constructive or destructive interference between the emitter and the antenna resonance mode affects the power flow enhancements and the far-field radiation pattern. Our proposed power flow analysis should play a critical role in characterizing the emitter-antenna system and customizing its energy transfer properties for desired applications.

Ribosomal S6 kinase is a family of serine/threonine protein kinases involved in the regulation of cell viability. There are two subfamilies of ribosomal s6 kinase, (p90rsk, p70rsk). Especially, p90rsk is known to be an important downstream kinase of p44/42 MAPK. We investigated the role of p90rsk on ethanol-induced cell proliferation of HepG2 cells. HepG2 cells were treated with 10~50 mM of ethanol with or without ERK and p90rsk inhibitors. Cell viability was measured by MTT assay. The expression of pERK1, NHE1 was measured by Western blots. The phosphorylation of p90rsk was measured by ELISA kits. The expression of Bcl-2 was measured by qRT-PCR. When the cells were treated with 10~30 mM of ethanol for 24 hour, it showed significant increase in cell viability versus control group. Besides, 10~30 mM of ethanol induced increased expression of pERK1, p-p90rsk, NHE1 and Bcl-2. Moreover treatment of p90rsk inhibitor attenuated the ethanol-induced increase in cell viability and NHE1 and Bcl-2 expression. In summary, these results suggest that p90rsk, a downstream kinase of ERK, plays a stimulatory role on ethanol-induced hepatocellular carcinoma progression by activating anti-apoptotic factor Bcl-2 and NHE1 known to regulate cell survival.
