Practicability of TTI application to yogurt quality prediction in plausible scenarios of a distribution system with temperature variations

        Jing Jing Meng,Jing Qian,정승원,이승주 한국식품과학회 2018 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.27 No.5

Yogurt has high temperature sensitivity, resulting in the temperature variations from production to consumption. Cooling capacity of cold chain facilities and product storage height are regarded as factors contributing to temperature variations in this study. To find an effective method to monitor temperature history of every yogurt product, three measurements were used: the set point of a cold chamber, a data logger, and a time–temperature integrator (TTI). The mean measured yogurt quality factor (acidity, T) of 30 samples was 92.1 T, and predicted values were 91.8 T from the set point, 93.3 T from the data logger, and 92.4 T from the TTI. In terms of individual prediction, the SSE of the TTI showed the smallest difference (5.76) followed by 81.5 of the set point and 118.9 of the data logger. Thus, the TTI showed the best performance and can be used to monitor the time–temperature history of yogurt in the cold chain system.

Incidence and risk factors for venous thrombosis among patients with inflammatory bowel disease in China: a multicenter retrospective study

( Jing Liu ),( Xiang Gao ),( Ye Chen ),( Qiao Mei ),( Liangru Zhu ),( Jiaming Qian ),( Pinjin Hu ),( Qian Cao ) 대한장연구학회 2021 Intestinal Research Vol.19 No.3

Background/Aims: Risk of venous thrombosis is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); data on Asian IBD patients is limited and status quo of thrombosis screening and prophylaxis are unknown. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the incidence, screening, prophylaxis, and risk factors for venous thrombosis among Asian IBD patients. Methods: Medical files of patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) from 17 hospitals across China between 2011 and 2016 were reviewed for venous thrombosis, use of screening and prophylaxis. A case-control study was performed among hospitalized patients with venous thrombosis and their age-, sex-matched IBD controls hospitalized around the same period; disease characteristics and known provoking factors of venous thrombosis were recorded. Risk factors were analyzed in both univariate and logistic regression analyses. Results: A total of 8,459 IBD patients were followed for 12,373 person-year. Forty-six patients (0.54%) had venous thrombosis, yielding an incidence of 37.18 per 10,000 person-year. Incidence increased with age, especially among CD. Less than 20% of patients received screening tests and 35 patients (0.41%) received prophylaxis. Severe disease flare was an independent risk factor for venous thrombosis (odds ratio [95% confidence interval]: CD, 9.342 [1.813-48.137]; UC, 5.198 [1.268-21.305]); past use of steroids and extensive involvement were 2 additional risk factors in CD and UC, respectively. Conclusions: Incidence of venous thrombosis in China was 37.18 per 10,000 person-year (0.54%). Use of screening and prophylaxis were rare. Severe disease flare was an independent risk factor for thrombosis among hospitalized patients. (Intest Res 2021;19:313-322)

      • SELDI-TOF MS Combined with Magnetic Beads for Detecting Serum Protein Biomarkers and Establishment of a Boosting Decision Tree Model for Diagnosis of Pancreatic Cancer

Qian, Jing-Yi,Mou, Si-Hua,Liu, Chi-Bo Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Aim: New technologies for the early detection of pancreatic cancer (PC) are urgently needed. The aim of the present study was to screen for the potential protein biomarkers in serum using proteomic fingerprint technology. Methods: Magnetic beads combined with surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization (SELDI) TOF MS were used to profile and compare the protein spectra of serum samples from 85 patients with pancreatic cancer, 50 patients with acute-on-chronic pancreatitis and 98 healthy blood donors. Proteomic patterns associated with pancreatic cancer were identified with Biomarker Patterns Software. Results: A total of 37 differential m/z peaks were identified that were related to PC (P < 0.01). A tree model of biomarkers was constructed with the software based on the three biomarkers (7762 Da, 8560 Da, 11654 Da), this showing excellent separation between pancreatic cancer and non-cancer., with a sensitivity of 93.3% and a specificity of 95.6%. Blind test data showed a sensitivity of 88% and a specificity of 91.4%. Conclusions: The results suggested that serum biomarkers for pancreatic cancer can be detected using SELDI-TOF-MS combined with magnetic beads. Application of combined biomarkers may provide a powerful and reliable diagnostic method for pancreatic cancer with a high sensitivity and specificity.

      • First Exploration of Printable Time-Temperature Indicator Based on Microcapsule

        Jing Qian 한국산업식품공학회 2016 학술대회 및 심포지엄 Vol.2016 No.10

With the development of marketing, time-temperature indicator (TTI) is applied to monitor the storage temperature and time to predict the shelf-life of food by irreversible color change. This study mainly focused on developing the solid-type enzymatic time temperature indicator as a first exploration on printable TTI. It was based on the phenomenon that starch would change its color into blue when meets iodine, and the hydrolysis of enzyme make the color turn to colorless gradually. Combining the microencapsulation technology to immobilize enzyme, several TTIs with different formulas were achieved, and hopefully to be applied on different foods, whose storage temperature is 4 and their shelf-life could be 5-6 days. Chilled pork meat was chosen as an indicating target to figure out a suitable specific TTI by activation energy comparing and lasting time matching.

      • Association Between C1019T Polymorphism in the Connexin 37 Gene and Helicobacter Pylori Infection in Patients with Gastric Cancer

        Jing, Yuan-Ming,Guo, Su-Xia,Zhang, Xiao-Ping,Sun, Ai-Jing,Tao, Feng,Qian, Hai-Xin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.5

Objective: To investigate the association between the connexin 37 C1019T polymorphism and Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with gastric cancer. Methods: 388 patients with gastric cancer (GC), 204 with chronic superficial gastritis (CSG) were studied. H. pylori was detected by gastric mucosal biopsies biopsy dyeing method. Connexin 37 gene polymorphism 1019 site genotypes were determined by gene sequencing technology. Genotypes and alleles frequencies were compared. Results: (1) Connexin37 gene 1019 site distribution frequency (CC type, TC type, TT type) in the CSG group was 18.1%, 45.1% and 36.8%; in the stomach cancer group it was 35.1%, 45.9% and 19.%, conforming to the Hardy-Weinberg euilibrium. (2) In comparison with CSG group, the frequency of Connexin37 C allele was higher in the gastric cancer group (58.0% vs 40.7%, OR = 2.01, 95%CI = 1.58-2.57, P < 0.01). The prevalence of gastric cancer risk was significantly increased in the carriers of C allele (CC+TC) than in TT homozygote (OR = 2.47, 5%CI = 1.68- 3.610. (3) Gastric cancer patients complicated with Hp infection 211 cases, gastric cancer group of the male patients with HP positive patients with 187 cases, 40 cases of female patients with negative patients, 24 cases were HP positive, negative in 137 cases, control group male patients, 28 cases were Hp positive, negative in 95 patients, female patients with Hp positive 6 cases, 75 cases were negative. On hierarchical analysis, the male group OR value was 15.9 (95%CI to 9.22-27.3), and the female OR was 2.19 (95%CI 0.88-5.59), indicating a greater contribution in males (P <0.01). After elimination of gender effects, positive HP and gastric cancer were closely related (OR 8.82, 95% CI: 5.45-14.3). (4) The distribution frequency of C allele in patients with Hp infection was much higher than that in Hp negative cases in the GC group (64.5% vs 47.0%, OR = 2.05, 95%CI = 1.54-2.74, P < 0.01). Compared with TT homozygotes, (CC+TC) genotype prevalence of gastric cancer risk increased significantly (OR = 2.96, 5%CI = 1.76-2.99 ). Conclusion: The T allele in the connexin37 gene might not only be associated with gastric cancer but also with H. pylori infection.

      • Ginsenoside-Rh2 Inhibits Proliferation and Induces Apoptosis of Human Gastric Cancer SGC-7901 Side Population Cells

        Qian, Jun,Li, Jing,Jia, Jian-Guang,Jin, Xin,Yu, Da-Jun,Guo, Chen-Xu,Xie, Bo,Qian, Li-Yu Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.4

Objectives: To observed the effects of ginsenoside -Rh2 (GS-Rh2) on proliferation and apoptosis of side population (SP) human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells. Materials and Methods: SGC-7901 SP and Non-SP cells were sorted by flow cytometry and assessed using the cck-8 method. Expression of apoptosis-related proteins Bax and Bcl-2 of SP before and after the intervention was determined by Western-blotting. Results: It was found that the proliferation of SP was significantly faster than that of NSP (P<0.05). In addition, GS-Rh2 inhibited proliferation of gastric cancer SP cells, induced cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis, and changed the expression of BAX/Bcl-2 proteins in a time-dependent and concentration-dependent manner (P<0.05). Conclusions: With increase of GS-Rh2 dose, GS-Rh2 gradually inhibit the proliferation of SGC-7901 SP cells, which have high proliferation rate, through G1/G0 phase arrest, followed by apoptosis which involves the up-regulation of Bax and the down-regulation of Bcl-2.

Turbulence-tolerant Manchester On-off Keying Transmission for Free-space Optical Communication

        Qian-Wen Jing,Pei-Zheng Yu,Han-Lin Lv,Yanqing Hong 한국광학회 2023 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.7 No.4

We propose a turbulence-tolerant Manchester on-off keying (M-OOK) transmission for free-space optical (FSO) communication. At the transmitter end, a M-OOK signal featuring a spectrum with lowfrequency components absent is modulated and transmitted into a turbulent channel. At the receiver end, a low-pass filter (LPF) -based adaptive-threshold decision (ATD) with LPF-extracted channelstate information (CSI) and a high-pass filter (HPF)-based fixed-threshold decision (FTD) are employed to compensate for the effects of turbulence, owing to the low-frequency spectral characteristics of the turbulent channel. The performance of LPF-based ATD and HPF-based FTD are evaluated for various cutoff frequencies for the LPF and HPF. Besides, the proposed M-OOK transmission is compared to conventional non-return-to-zero OOK (NRZ-OOK) for different data rates. The proposed technique is verified in simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed M-OOK detection with optimized cutoff frequencies of LPF and HPF has better bit-error-rate (BER) performance compared to NRZOOK, and it is close to the theoretical ATD with the knowledge of precise CSI under various degrees of turbulence effects.

KPCA 및 서포트 벡터머신을 이용한 얼굴인식에 대한 연구

        치엔징천(Jing-Chen Qian),강대성(Dae-Seong Kang) 한국정보기술학회 2010 한국정보기술학회논문지 Vol.8 No.3

Face recognition(FR) is an important application and also is one of the most difficult problems in pattern recognition domain. Kernel Principal Component(KPCA) Algorithm has the characteristics of feature extraction rapidity and sufficient feature information reservation. Support Vector Machines(SVMs) is a new machine learning method based on statistical learning theory and has become an increasingly popular tool for machine learning tasks involving classification, regression or novelty detection. In this paper, used KPCA to extract feature, and SVMs model is trained, and identification of test images is realized. We have experimented using ORL database offered by AT&T laboratory in Cambridge, UK. and The Yale Face Database B to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Test on faces database shows that the combination of the two theories(KPCA/SVM) gains higher identification rate.

Universality of Finite-Size Corrections to Geometrical Entanglement in One-Dimensional Quantum Critical Systems

        Xi-Jing Liu,Bing-Quan Hu,Sam Young Cho,Huan-Qiang Zhou,Qian-Qian Shi 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.69 No.7

Recently, the finite-size corrections to the geometrical entanglement per lattice site in the spin- 1/2 chain have been numerically shown to scale inversely with system size, and its prefactor b has been suggested to be possibly universal [Q-Q. Shi et al., New J. Phys. 12, 025008 (2010)]. As possible evidence of its universality, the numerical values of the prefactors have been confirmed analytically by using the Affleck-Ludwig boundary entropy with a Neumann boundary condition for a free compactified field [J-M. Stephan et al., Phys. Rev. B 82, 180406(R) (2010)]. However, the Affleck-Ludwig boundary entropy is not unique and does depend on conformally invariant boundary conditions. Here, we show that a unique Affleck-Ludwig boundary entropy corresponding to a finitesize correction to the geometrical entanglement per lattice site exists and show that the ratio of the prefactor b to the corresponding minimum groundstate degeneracy gmin for the Affleck- Ludwig boundary entropy is a constant for any critical region of the spin-1 XXZ system with the single-ion anisotropy, i.e., b/(2 log2 gmin) = −1. Previously studied spin-1/2 systems, including the quantum three-state Potts model, have verified the universal ratio. Hence, the inverse finite-size correction to the geometrical entanglement per lattice site and its prefactor b are universal for one-dimensional critical systems.
