      • A comparative study on the inhibitory effects of mast cell-mediated allergic reactions by artificially cultured and wild Acanthopanax senticosus

        We compared the effect between CAS and WAS(root, stem) on mast cell-mediated allergic reaction. CAS, WAS-root and WAS-stem, significantly inhibited compound 48/80-induced systemic allergic reaction(1g/kg) and histamine release from RPMC(1mg/ml). CAS, WAS-root and WAS-stem also inhibited passive cutaneous anaphylactic reaction. In addition, IgE-induced $TNF-{\alpha}$ secretion from RBL-2H3 was inhibited by pretreatment of CAS, WAS-root or WAS-stem$(0.01{\mu}g/ml)$. Taken together, inhibitory effect on mast cell-mediated allergic reactions of WAS-root is greater than those of WAS-stem but less than those of CAS.

        UHF RFID 태그 칩용 저전력 EEPROM설계

        본 논문에서 는 플래쉬 셀을 사용하여 수동형 UHF RFID 태그 칩에 사용되는 저전력 1Kb 동기식 EEPROM을 설계하였다. 저전력 EEPROM을 구현하기 위한 방법으로 다음과 같은 4가지 방법을 제안하였다. 첫째, VDD(=1.5V)와 VDDP(=2.5V)의 이중 전원 공급전압 방식을 사용하였고, 둘째, 동기식 회로 설계에서 클럭(clock) 신호가 계속 클럭킹(clocking)으로 인한 스위칭 전류(switching current)가 흐르는 것을 막기 위해 CKE(Clock Enable) 신호를 사용하였다. 셋째, 읽기 사이클에서 전류 센싱(current sensing) 방식 대신 저전력 소모를 갖는 clocked inverter를 사용한 센싱 방식을 사용하였으며, 넷째, 쓰기 모드시 Voltage-up 변환기(converter) 회로를 사용하여 기준전압 발생기(Reference Voltage Generator)에는 저전압인 VDD를 사용할 수 있도록 하여 전력 소모를 줄일 수가 있었다. $0.25{\mu}m$ EEPROM 공정을 이용하여 칩을 제작하였으며, 1Kb EEPROM을 설계한 결과 읽기 모드와 쓰기 모드 시에 소모되는 전력은 각각 $4.25{\mu}W$와 $25{\mu}W$이고, 레이아웃 면적(layout area)은 $646.3\times657.68{\mu}m^2$이다. In this paper, a low-power 1Kb synchronous EEPROM is designed with flash cells for passive UHF RFID tag chips. To make a low-power EEPROM, four techniques are newly proposed. Firstly, dual power supply voltages VDD(1.5V) and VDDP(2.5V), are used. Secondly, CKE signal is used to remove switching current due to clocking of synchronous circuits. Thirdly, a low-speed but low-power sensing scheme using clocked inverters is used instead of the conventional current sensing method. Lastly, the low-voltage, VDD for the reference voltage generator is supplied by using the Voltage-up converter in write cycle. An EEPROM is fabricated with the $0.25{\mu}m$ EEPROM process. Simulation results show that power dissipations are $4.25{\mu}W$ in the read cycle and $25{\mu}W$ in the write cycle, respectively. The layout area is $646.3\times657.68{\mu}m^2$.

        In Vivo Anti-tumor Effects of the Ethanol Extract of Gleditsia sinensis Thorns and Its Active Constituent, Cytochalasin H.

        <P>Angiogenesis is the process of new vessel formation from pre-existing blood vasculature and is critical for continuous tumor growth. We previously reported that an ethanolic extract of Gleditsia sinensis thorns (EEGS) and its active constituent, cytochalasin H, have anti-angiogenic activity in vitro and in vivo via suppression of endothelial cell functions. In the present study, EEGS and cytochalasin H were observed to efficiently inhibit tumor growth in an in ovo xenograft model without significant toxicity. We repeatedly observed the anti-tumor and anti-metastatic effects of EEGS in representative animal models. These results suggest that EEGS and its active constituent, cytochalasin H, are potential candidates for the development of anti-angiogenic cancer drugs.</P>

        다중 표적을 이용한 부유식 구조물의 영상 기반 동적 응답 계측

        Recently, vision-based dynamic deflection measurement techniques have significant interests and are getting more popular owing to development of the high-quality and low-price camcorder and also image processing algorithm. However, there are still several research issues to be improved including the self-vibration of vision device, i.e. camcorder, and the image processing algorithm in device aspect, and also the application area should be extended to measure three dimensional movement of floating structures in application aspect. In this study, vision-based dynamic motion measurement technique using multiple targets is proposed to measure three dimensional dynamic motion of floating structures. And also a new scheme to select threshold value to discriminate the background from the raw image containing targets. The proposed method is applied to measure the dynamic motion of large concrete floating quay in open sea area under several wave conditions, and the results are compared with the measurement results from conventional RTK-GPS(Real Time Kinematics-Global Positioning System) and MRU(Motion Reference Unit). 최근 캠코더와 같은 영상 장비의 고성능화 및 대중화, 그리고 화상 처리(image procession) 기술의 발달 등으로 인하여 영상 기반의 구조물 동적변위 계측에 관한 연구가 활발하며, 이러한 연구개발의 결과로 관련 시스템의 사용성 및 정확도가 많이 개선되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 영상 기반 시스템의 경우 장비 측면에서 볼 때 영상 장비 자체의 진동에 의한 오차, 화상 처리 과정에서의 오차 등을 개선할 필요가 있으며, 또한 적용 측면에서 볼 때 교량의 수직 처짐이나 건축구조물의 수평변위 계측에 제한되어 있어 부유체의 파랑응답과 같은 3차원 운동을 하는 구조물에 대한 확장이 필요한 시점이다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 영상 기반 동적변위 계측방법을 3차원 문제에 적용하기 위하여 다중 표적(Multiple targer)을 사용한 방법을 제시하고, 또한 화상 처리 과정에서의 정량적 판단 기준을 제시함으로써 간접적으로 영상 기반 시스템의 계측 정확도를 평가하여, 영상 기반 방법에 의하여 계측된 동적변위 계측결과의 유효성을 판단할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안된 방법을 60m * 30 m * 6 m 규모의 대형 부유체에 대한 실해역 파랑 응답 실험에 적용하여, 부유체의 동적변위를 계측하였으며, 그 결과를 기존의 RTK-GPS(Real Time Kinematics-Global Positioning System), MRU(Motion Reference Unit) 등의 장비를 이용한 계측결과와 비교함으로써 그 성능을 검증하였다.

        Cytotoxic Compounds from the Fruits of Vitex rotundifolia against Human Cancer Cell Lines

        Activity-guided fractionation of an ethanol extract from the fruits of Vitex rotundifolia led to the isolation of three flavonoids (1-3), one lignan (4), and three phenolic compounds (5-7). The structures of compounds 1-7 were identified by NMR data. The efficacy of all compounds was evaluated by their cytotoxic activities against nine human cancer cell lines using an in vitro assay.

        The copper nanoparticle chains have been synthesized through a self-assembly process with sodium polymethacylic acid as the template. The resulted nanoparticle chains were 0.8–1.5 μm long, and the composed nanoparticles were about 30 nm in diameter. The self-assembly formation mechanism has been proposed.

        Cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory constituents from the seeds of Descurainia sophia

        A new sinapoyl glycoside, 1,3-di-O-sinapoyl-b-D-glucopyranose (1) along with 13 known compounds,including, sinapoyl glycosides (2 and 3), cardenolide glycoside(4), flavonoids (5–10), lignan (11), phenolic acids(12 and 13), and phytosterol (14), were isolated from theseeds of Descurainia sophia by chromatographic separationmethods. The structures of 1–14 were determined by theinterpretation of spectroscopic data as well as by comparisonof that data with previously reported values. Compounds 2,3, 5, 6, and 11 were identified in and isolated from this plantfor the first time in this study. All isolates were evaluated forin vitro cytotoxic activities against seven human cancer celllines and for in vitro anti-inflammatory potential using LPSstimulatedRAW264.7 murine macrophages. Compound 4showed potent cytotoxicity (IC50 values ranging from 0.034to 0.596 lM) against all human cancer cell lines tested andwas identified as the main active cytotoxic constituent of thisplant. Compound 8 (ED50 = 5.45 lM) and 11 (ED50 =10.02 lM) exerted dose-dependent inhibitory effects on NOproduction in LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells.

      • Preliminary failure modes and effects analysis on Korean HCCR TBS to be tested in ITER

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Korean Helium cooled ceramic reflector (HCCR) Test blanket system (TBS), which comprises Test blanket module (TBM) and ancillary systems in various locations of ITER building, is operated at high temperature and pressure with decay heat. Therefore, safety is utmost concern in design process and it is required to demonstrate that the HCCR TBS is designed to comply with the safety requirements and guidelines of ITER. Due to complexity of the system with many interfaces with ITER, a systematic approach is necessary for safety analysis. This paper presents preliminary failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) study performed for the HCCR TBS. FMEA is a systematic methodology in which failure modes for components in the system and their consequences are studied from the bottom-up. Over eighty failure modes have been investigated on the HCCR TBS. The failure modes that have similar consequences are grouped as postulated initiating events (PIEs) and total seven reference accident scenarios are derived from FMEA study for deterministic accident analysis. Failure modes not covered here due to evolving design of the HCCR TBS and uncertainty in maintenance procedures will be studied further in near future.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Postulated initiating events are identified through failure modes and effects analysis on the current HCCR TBS design. </LI> <LI> A set of postulated initiating events are selected for consideration of deterministic analysis. </LI> <LI> Accident evolutions on the selected postualted initiating events are qualitatively described for deterministic analysis. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Accident analysis on LOCA in HCCR-TBS towards CCWS-1

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Korean Helium Cooled Ceramic Reflector (HCCR) Test Blanket System (TBS) will be operated at elevated temperature with high pressure helium coolant during normal operation in ITER. One of the main ancillary systems of HCCR-TBS is Helium Cooling System (HCS) which play an important role to extract heat from HCCR Test Blanket Module (TBM) by the helium coolant to keep the operational temperature and the extracted heat is finally transferred to ITER CCWS-1 (Component Cooling Water System) by a Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE) in the HCS. In such circumstances if Loss Of Coolant Accident (LOCA) occurs in the PCHE, the high pressure helium coolant in the primary side goes into the lower pressure water in the secondary side thus pressurizing CCWS-1. In addition, since the helium coolant contains tritium due to permeation from the TBM, tritium migrates into CCWS-1, a non-nuclear system. In this paper, accident analysis for LOCA in the heat exchanger is presented. For the analysis, GAMMA-FR code which has been developed for fusion applications was used. Main components in the HCS and CCWS-1 were modelled as volume and junctions. The accident analysis was performed for the reference case with ten channels rupture and sensitivity study was also performed by changing the crack size. The results show that pressure and tritium requirement of CCWS-1 can be met in spite of LOCA in the heat exchanger of the HCCR-TBS HCS.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Accident analysis on LOCA in the HCCR-TBS HCS to CCWS-1was performed to assess impact on Component Cooling Water System-1. </LI> <LI> The analysis reveals that impact due to the accident is limited in terms of pressure increase in CCWS-1 and tritium ingress to CCWS-1. </LI> <LI> However, chronical release of tritium from the HCS to CCWS-1 through the heat exchanger should be further clarified. </LI> <LI> This aspect should be reflected in the design of the heat exchanger in future. </LI> </UL> </P>
