LUXURY FASHION BRAND’S SUSTAINABLE MESSAGE APPEAL STRATEGIES AND BRAND AUTHENTICITY IN INSTAGRAM

Authenticity is an important topic in business activities and society at large. Sustainability management and marketing activities are required as consumers become more interested in society. The consumer evaluation of brand authenticity is a crucial factor in a brand’s reputation and long-term growth, which affects brand loyalty, electronic word of mouth (eWOM) and purchase behavior. With this latest trend, luxury brands are paying attention to sustainability activities, but consumer confidence in the sustainability of luxury brands is still low. Experts emphasize that building trust with customers by promising authenticity is a key challenge. Meanwhile, luxury brands are actively communicating with consumers through SNS, such as Instagram. Social media marketing directly and indirectly influences brand authenticity, as well as purchase intentions and eWOM. Nevertheless, there is little exposure to sustainability activities in the social media accounts of luxury brands. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the sustainability activities on the social media of luxury brands and brand authenticity, as well as the effects of brand authenticity on eWOM and purchase intention. For this study, we conducted an online survey targeting individuals with ages of 20–30 years and who are highly interested in society while actively using social media. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 software package. The main finding of this study reveals that consumers are more aware of brand authenticity when they see an Instagram post that includes messages about sustainability rather than a post without any such messages. In addition, brand authenticity has positive effects on eWOM and purchase intention. These findings suggest that sustainability marketing by luxury brands leads to positive consumer response, and the broadcasting of messages about sustainability via social media is effective for the marketing strategy of luxury brands.

Purpose: Clinical practice for medical students aims to improve their clinical competency. Since students gain experience in clinical practice, it is assumed that their capacity for care is strengthened. This study aimed to verify whether there is a change in the competency of medical students after clinical practice. Methods: We assessed the clinical performance of 120 medical students who were enrolled in the fifth year over the academic years 2016-2018. Objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) was used to measure the clinical competency. Results: The OSCE scores for November fifth grade improved significantly compared to May fifth grade. The scores in September of sixth grade were slightly lower than those of November of fifth grade, but there was no statistically significant difference. Conclusion: It was confirmed that the clinical practice of fifth-year students improved their clinical competency, but it did not show any significant shift in the clinical competency of sixth-year students. The results of this study suggest that it is very important to organize the curriculum so that students can continue to experience patient-facing care throughout the entire clinical practice course to produce highly qualified physicians.
Raman Spectroscopy of Irradiated Normoxic Polymethacrylic Acid Gel Dosimeter

A quantitative analysis of the decreasing rate of the monomer and increasing rate of the polymerization was made by monitoring radiation level increments using Raman spectroscopy within the therapeutic radiation range for a normoxic polymethacrylic acid gel dosimeter. The gel dosimeter was synthesized by stirring materials such as gelatin, distilled water, methacrylic acid, hydroquinone and tetrakis phosphonium chloride at 50 ^oC, and the synthesized gel was contained in a 10- mm diameter and 32-mm high vial to conduct measurement. 24 hours after gel synthesis, it was irradiated from 0 Gy to 20 Gy by 2 Gy using a Co-60 radiotherapy unit. With use of the Cryo FE-SEM, structural changes in the 0 Gy and 10 Gy gel dosimeters were investigated. The Raman spectra were acquired using 532-nm laser as the excitation source. In accordance with fitting the changes in C-COOH tretching (801 cm‒1), C=C stretching (1639 cm‒1) and vinyl CH_2 stretching (3114 cm^(‒1)) vibrational modes for monomer and CH_2 bending vibrational mode (1451 cm^(‒1))for polymer , sensitive parameter S for each mode was calculated. The values of S for monomer bands and polymer band were ranged in 6.0 ± 2.6 Gy and 7.2 ± 2.3 Gy, respectively, which shows a relatively good conformity of the decreasing rate of monomer and the increasing rate of polymerization within the range of error.

Background/Aims: Golimumab has been used for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) since 2013. However, there is limited data on the effectiveness and safety of the real-world use of golimumab in Asian patients. Methods: This was a multicenter, prospective, observational study. We enrolled patients with moderate-to-severe UC who were administered subcutaneous golimumab at 46 medical centers between May 2014 and November 2019. The primary outcome was the effectiveness and safety of golimumab at week 22. Clinical outcomes and adverse events were assessed according to partial Mayo score at weeks 0, 2, 6, 14, and 22. Results: A total of 130 patients were included (mean age: 45.7±16.0 years). The clinical response/ remission rates at weeks 2, 6, 14, and 22 were 40.4%/22.9%, 56.0%/35.8%, 70.6%/49.5%, and 67.9%/48.6%, respectively. Based on full Mayo score at week 14, clinical response and remission rates were 84.2% and 39.5%, respectively. Mucosal healing rate was 65.8%. In multivariate analysis with logistic regression, longer disease duration was significantly associated with a higher clinical response rate (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 1.136; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.006 to 1.282; p=0.040 at week 6; aOR, 1.256; 95% CI, 1.049 to 1.503; p=0.013 at week 22). A higher baseline Mayo endoscopic subscore was significantly associated with a lower clinical response rate at week 6 (aOR, 0.248; 95% CI, 0.089 to 0.692; p=0.008). The incidence of adverse drug reactions was 4.6% (6/130, nine events). No serious unexpected adverse drug reactions or deaths were reported. Conclusions: Golimumab was effective and safe as an induction and maintenance treatment for Korean patients with moderate-to-severe UC.
