        A new species of gall midge (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) damaging flower buds of goji berry Lycium barbarum (Solanaceae)

        Larvae of a previously undescribed gall midge species have been feeding within malformed flower buds of goji berry Lycium barbarum L. (Solanaceae) in China, preventing fruit development and causing damage to the fruit industry. The new species is named Gephyraulus lycantha Jiao & Kolesik, its morphology is described, the COI mitochondrial gene segment is sequenced, and the biology is outlined. In order to taxonomically accommodate the new gall midge, the scope of the genus Gephyraulus is broadened and now encompasses also species that lack dorso-apical sensoria on the female cercus.

        Morphological, genetic and symptomatic identification of an invasive jujube pest in Korea, Dasineura jujubifolia Jiao & Bu (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae)

        Correct identification of invasive species is an important step for further management of this species. New type of leafcurling gall midge feeding on jujube, Ziziphus jujube Miller (Rhamnaceae), was discovered in Korea in 2011. At that time, this species was not identified as specific level, so it was recorded as Dasineura sp. Since then, the jujube gall midge has become a serious alien insect pest in Korea. In this study, this jujube gall midge was surveyed by collecting damaged leaf samples from different major jujube-producing regions in Korea. Morphological, genetic and symptomatic identification of this invasive jujube pest identified as Dasineura juju bifolia Jiao & Bu. Here we provided its taxonomic status, geographical distribution, morphological characteristics of all stages and infestation symptoms. In addition to classical morphological characters, mitochondrial COI barcoding sequences were generated for several specimens. The possible pathway of invasion and subsequent socioeconomic consequences were discussed.

        The present paper develops application of TSDT and MCST to analysis of a FG cylindrical micro-shell. The present model may be used as a sensor applicable in badminton net to detect contact. The radial and axial displacement components are described based on TSDT for more accurate analysis. The effect of small scales is accounted based on MCST. The solution is presented for a SS boundary condition to account the influence of various important parameters. A comparative analysis is presented to examine the effect of order of employed shear deformation theory on the axial and radial displacements.

        Combined analysis and miRNA expression profiles of the flowering related genes in common wild rice (oryza rufipogon Griff.)

        Common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) is the most closely related ancestral species to Asian cultivated rice (Oryza sativa L.). It contains various valuable traits with regard to tolerance to cold, drought and salinity, flowering diversity and many quantitative trait loci with agronomic important traits. Flowering is one of the most important agronomic traits. However, flowering-related transcriptome and how to be regulated by miRNAs have not been estimated in O.rufipogon. To identify how the genes and miRNAs regulating flowering in O.rufipogon. Three O.rufipogon RNA libraries, two vegetative stages (CWRT-V1 and CWRT-V2) and one flowering stage (CWRT-F2) were constructed using leaves tissue and sequenced using Illumina deep sequencing. 27,405, 27,333, 28,979 unique genes were obtained after mapping to the reference genome from CWRT-V1, CWRT-V2 and CWRT-F2, respectively. Then differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened and got 1419 unique genes are likely to involve in flower development. Detailed information showed that MADS box and floral meristem identity genes, such as MADS 1, MADS14, Hd1 are involved in common wild rice. Then, combined analysis of miRNA and mRNA expression profiles was performed. Twenty three known miRNA-mRNA pairs and five new candidates were presented an anti-correlationship. Interestingly, 12 miRNAs were negatively correlated with 20 mRNAs encoding flowering-related proteins, indicating that miRNAs regulated target genes to promote flowering in CWRT-F2 group. The results provided here genomic resources for flowering related genes and how these flowering genes were regulated by miRNAs in common wild rice.

        A Novel Algorithm of Joint Probability Data Association Based on Loss Function

        In this paper, a joint probabilistic data association algorithm based on loss function (LJPDA) is proposed so that the computation load and accuracy of the multi-target tracking algorithm can be guaranteed simultaneously. Firstly, data association is divided in to three cases based on the relationship among validation gates and the number of measurements in the overlapping area for validation gates. Also the contribution coefficient is employed for evaluating the contribution of a measurement to a target, and the loss function, which reflects the cost of the new proposed data association algorithm, is defined. Moreover, the equation set of optimal contribution coefficient is given by minimizing the loss function, and the optimal contribution coefficient can be attained by using the Newton-Raphson method. In this way, the weighted value of each target can be achieved, and the data association among measurements and tracks can be realized. Finally, we compare performances of LJPDA proposed and joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) algorithm via numerical simulations, and much attention is paid on real-time performance and estimation error. Theoretical analysis and experimental results reveal that the LJPDA algorithm proposed exhibits small estimation error and low computation complexity.

      • Fatigue evaluation and CFRP strengthening of diaphragm cutouts in orthotropic steel decks

        The cracking at the transverse diaphragm cutout is one of the most severe fatigue failures threatening orthotropic steel decks (OSDs), whose mechanisms and crack treatment techniques have not been fully studied. In this paper, full-scale experiments were first performed to investigate the fatigue performance of polished cutouts involving the effect of an artificial geometrical defect. Following this, comparative experimental testing for defective cutouts strengthened with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) was carried out. Numerical finite element analysis was also performed to verify and explain the experimental observations. Results show that the combinative effect of the wheel load and thermal residual stress constitutes the external driving force for the fatigue cracking of the cutout. Initial geometrical defects are confirmed as a critical factor affecting the fatigue cracking. The principal stress 6 mm away from the free edge of the cutout can be adopted as the nominal stress of the cutout during fatigue evaluation, and the fatigue resistance of polished cutouts is higher than Grade A in AASHTO specification. The bonded CFRP system is highly effective in extending the fatigue life of the defective cutouts. The present study provides some new insights into the fatigue evaluation and repair of OSDs.

      • Stereo Video Transmission Distortion Derived Algorithm Based On Data Partitioning In H.264/AVC

        H.264/AVC coding standard slices the encoded Data using the Data Partitioning (DP) based on syntax priority to improve the error resistance for H.264 bit stream. According to this feature, considering the temporal and spatial correlation in stereoscopic video, network performance and terminal error concealment technology. A derived algorithm for determining the transmission distortion based on different DP parts in a Group-of-Pictures (GoP) is proposed. The algorithm takes both the distortion introduced by error diffusion and error concealment into account, which can be estimated by the stereo video quality at encode side under the condition of the specific network. Experimental results show that the algorithm used to calculate the distortion basically coincided with simulation results, and the algorithm can be applied to different sequences with various movement characteristics.

        Structural and Optical Properties of RF Magnetron Reactively Sputtered Ag2O Film

        A series of <111> oriented Ag2O films was deposited onto glass substrates by using RF magnetron reactive sputtering at different flow ratios (FRs) of oxygen to argon. The Ag2O film deposited at FR = 0.667 was the best <111> oriented film due to dual contributions from both lattice strain and film stress. The films’ transmissivity of over 70% in the near-infrared region indicated that Ag2O films are not suitable for applications as transparent conductive films in the visible region. Ag2O films deposited at FRs from 0.467 to 0.800 had optical band gaps ranging from 3.266 eV to 3.107 eV. The redshift in the films’ absorption edge may be attributed to the decrease in the lattice strain with increasing in FR.         Expression and Immunogenicity of SARSCoV-2 Virus-Like Particles based on Recombinant Truncated HEV-3 ORF2 Capsid Protein

        COVID-19 is an emerging disease that poses a severe threat to global public health. As such, there is an urgent demand for vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Here, we describe a virus-like nanoparticle candidate vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 produced by an E. coli expression system. The fusion protein of a truncated ORF2-encoded protein of aa 439~608 (p170) from hepatitis E virus CCJD-517 and the receptor-binding domain of the spike protein from SARSCoV-2 were expressed, purified and characterized. The antigenicity and immunogenicity of p170-RBD were evaluated in vitro and in Kunming mice. Our investigation revealed that p170-RBD selfassembled into approximately 24 nm virus-like particles, which could bind to serum from vaccinated people (p < 0.001) and receptors on cells. Immunization with p170-RBD induced the titer of IgG antibody vaccine increased from 14 days post-immunization and was significantly enhanced after a booster immunization at 28 dpi, ultimately reaching a peak level on 42 dpi with a titer of 4.97 log10. Pseudovirus neutralization tests showed that the candidate vaccine induced a strong neutralizing antibody response in mice. In this research, we demonstrated that p170-RBD possesses strong antigenicity and immunogenicity and could be a potential candidate for use in future SARS-CoV-2 vaccine development.
