An overview on methods for the production of carbon nanotubes

        N.M. Mubarak,E.C. Abdullah,N.S. Jayakumar,J.N. Sahu 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.4

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of the most exciting discoveries in nanoscale sciences. A brief survey of experimental work directed towards the synthesis of CNTs has been discussed. The various methods of production of CNTs are explained outlining their capabilities, efficiencies and possible exploitation as economic large scale production. Among the discussed techniques, the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) appears to be the most potential way to produce high quality of CNTs at high yield. The advantages of CVD over other techniques are also explained and the effects of process parameter on the synthesis of these nanomaterials are discussed.

Microwave assisted multiwall carbon nanotubes enhancing Cd(II) adsorption capacity in aqueous media

        N.M. Mubarak,J.N. Sahu,E.C. Abdullah,N.S. Jayakumar,P. Ganesan 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.24 No.-

Novel multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) have been successfully synthesized using tubular microwave chemical vapour deposition technique and proved to be an outstanding adsorbent for the removal of Cd(II) from aqueous solution. The effect of process parameters such as pH, MWCNTs dosage, agitation speed and time were investigated. The maximum adsorption capacities of Cd(II) were found to be 88.62 mg/g and a statistical analysis reveals that the optimum conditions for the highest removal (98%) of Cd(II) are at pH 5, MWCNTs dosage 0.1 g, agitation speed and time of 160 rpm and 50 min, respectively with the initial concentration of 10 mg/L. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models match the experimental data very well and adsorption kinetic obeyed pseudo-second order. Our results proved that MWCNTs can be used as an effective Cd(II) adsorbent due to the high adsorption capacity as well as the short adsorption time needed to achieve equilibrium.

Radio frequency responsive nano-biomaterials for cancer therapy

Rejinold, N.S.,Jayakumar, R.,Kim, Y.C. Elsevier Science Publishers 2015 Journal of controlled release Vol.204 No.-

Radiofrequency (RF)-assisted cancer therapy is well-known in the medical field as it is non-hazardous and can penetrate tissues, enabling a deeply rooted cancer treatment. However, the current treatment regimen is non-specific and invasive, making it difficult for patients to undergo the RF ablation procedure. Recently, there has been tremendous attention given on replacing RF probes (through which the RF current passes into the tumors) with metallic nanoparticles (NPs) such as gold and iron oxide. These metallic NPs can be combined with stimuli responsive polymers to have a simultaneous drug delivery to tumors and better thermal ablation. This review will give a brief overview on the various nanobiomaterials based on metals and polymers and their composites in RF-assisted cancer therapy. Special attention has been given on RF responsive composite nanomaterials. Besides these, the importance of RF-assisted drug delivery using the nanobiomaterials for cancer therapy, as well as the advantages and future perspectives of these materials are discussed in detail.

A Novel Double Frequency SEPIC Converter with Improved Transient Characteristics and Efficiency

        Vijayalakshmi S.,Marimuthu M.,Jayakumar N.,Vighneshwari B. Devi,Paranthagan B.,Rani Nisha C.,Shenbagalakshmi R. 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.2

A novel double frequency SEPIC converter is discussed in this paper. Effi ciency, static and dynamic characteristics of the dc to dc power converters are the concerned factors in power electronics. In order to improve the above factors, switching frequency play a vital role in converters. Hence, include High switching frequency in the converter can improve the dynamic characteristics, but it reduces the effi ciency. In other words, put in low switching frequency in the converter may result in better effi ciency but produces poor dynamic characteristic. In this concern double-frequency SEPIC converter is proposed. This SEPIC dc-dc converter consists of two SEPIC cells: one functions at high switching frequency, and other functions at low switching frequency. The proposed SEPIC converter reveals enhanced steady state and transient characteristic than the other single frequency SEPIC converter and produces high effi ciency also. The results of simulation and hardware prove that the anticipated converter extremely progresses the effi ciency and displays more or less equal the same dynamics as the traditional high frequency SEPIC converter.

Modification of pharmacokinetics of norfloxacin following oral administration of curcumin in rabbits

        B. H. Pavithra,K. Jayakumar,N. Prakash 대한수의학회 2009 JOURNAL OF VETERINARY SCIENCE Vol.10 No.4

Investigation was carried out in adult New Zealand white rabbits to study the influence of curcumin pre-treatment on pharmacokinetic disposition of norfloxacin following single oral administration. Sixteen rabbits were divided into two groups of eight each consisting of either sex. Animals in group-I were administered norfloxacin (100 mg/kg body weight p.o), while animals in group-II received similar dose of norfloxacin after pre-treatment with curcumin (60 mg/kg body weight per day, 3 days, p.o). Blood samples were drawn from the marginal ear vein into heparin-coated vials at 0 (zero time), 5, 10, 15, 30 min and 1, 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24 h post-treatment. Plasma norfloxacin concentrations were determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The plasma concentration-time profile of norfloxacin was adequately described by a one-compartment open model. The pharmacokinetic data revealed that curcumin-treated animals had significantly (p ≤ 0.05) higher area under the plasma concentrationtime curve and area under the first moment of plasma drug concentration-time curve. Prior treatment of curcumin significantly (p ≤ 0.05) increased elimination half-life and volume of distribution of norfloxacin. Further treatment with curcumin reduced loading and maintenance doses by 26% and 24% respectively.

      • Multi Area Power Dispatch using Black Widow Optimization Algorithm

Girishkumar, G.,Ganesan, S.,Jayakumar, N.,Subramanian, S. International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.10

Sophisticated automation-based electronics world, more electrical and electronic devices are being used by people from different regions across the universe. Different manufacturers and vendors develop and market a wide variety of power generation and utilization devices under different operating parameters and conditions. People use a variety of appliances which use electrical energy as power source. These appliances or gadgets utilize the generated energy in different ratios. Night time the utilization will be less when compared with day time utilization of power. In industrial areas especially mechanical industries or Heavy machinery usage regions power utilization will be a diverse at different time intervals and it vary dynamically. This always causes a fluctuation in the grid lines because of the random and intermittent use of these apparatus while the power generating apparatus is made to operate to provide a steady output. Hence it necessitates designing and developing a method to optimize the power generated and the power utilized. Lot of methodologies has been proposed in the recent years for effective optimization and economical load dispatch. One such technique based on intelligent and evolutionary based is Black Widow Optimization BWO. To enhance the optimization level BWO is hybridized. In this research BWO based optimize the load for multi area is proposed to optimize the cost function. A three type of system was compared for economic loads of 16, 40, and 120 units. In this research work, BWO is used to improve the convergence rate and is proven statistically best in comparison to other algorithms such as HSLSO, CGBABC, SFS, ISFS. Also, BWO algorithm best optimize the cost parameter so that dynamically the load and the cost can be controlled simultaneously and hence effectively the generated power is maximum utilized at different time intervals with different load capacity in different regions of utilization.
