        질소-산소계 시프염기 리간드의 합성과 전이금속(Ⅱ) 착물의 안정도상수결정

        N,N-bis(2-salicylaldehyde)dipropylenetriamine(5-Hsaldipn), N,N-bis(5-bromosalicyl-aldehyde) dipropylenetriamine (5-Brsaldipn), N,N-bis(5-chlorosalicylaldehyde)dipropylene-triamine(5-Clsaldipn), N,N-bis(2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde)dipropylenetriamine(5-OCH₃saldipn) and N,N-bis (2-hydroxy-5-nitrobenzaldehyde)dipropylenetriamine (5-NO₂saldipn) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectrometry, NMR spectrometry and mass spectrometry. Their proton dissociation constants were determined in 70% dioxane/30% water solution by potentiometric. Stability constants of the complexes between these ligands and the metal ions such as Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ) and Zn(Ⅱ) were measured in dimethyl sulfoxide by a polarographic method. Stability constants for the ligands were in the order of 5-OCH₃> 5-H > 5-Br > 5-Cl > 5-NO₂saldipn. Enthalpy and entropy changes were obtained in negative values.

        Probe card is the most important part of testing IC chips. This work was related to silicon vertical probe card which enabled to simultaneously test multiple semiconductor chips. We presented Bump-type vertical probe card. It was fabricated by dry etching using RIE technique, isotropic etching, and bulk-micromachining on SDB wafer. The process used in this work was very simple and reproducible, which had good controllability in the probe card dimension and spacing. It is expected that the fabricated probe card can reduce testing time, can promote productivity and enables bum-in test.

        Pseudoaneurysms form when a hemorrhage or hematoma from the injured arterial wall is replaced with an fibrous vessel wall, which is dilated by subsequent pulsating pressure. Recently, we experienced a patient with a pulsatile preauricular mass, measuring about 1.5× 1.5 cm, sustained from blunt trauma by the baseball. The presumptive diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm of the superficial temporal artery was made by Doppler sonography. Under local anesthesia, the aneurysm was excised en bloc following ligation. We report the rare case with a review of literatures.

        전처리 방법에 따른 하수슬러지 가용화 비교연구

        The pretreatment process was carried out to solubilize the sewage sludge for enhancing its biodegradability using alkaline treatment, ultrasonic treatment(l5kHz), ozone treatment and different combination of these three methods: alkaline followed by ultrasonic as well as ozone, and ultrasonic followed by alkaline. The solubilization efficiency was evaluated based on the SCOD/TCOD ratio and VSS/TS ratio. In results, the proper condition of alkaline treatment was shown as 30meq/l of NaOH, pH 12 and 3hours of reaction time. Solubilization efficiency increased to 17% from initial 2% based on SCOD/TCOD ratio under this condition. In ultrasonic treatment, the higher ultrasonic power, the longer treatment time and the lower sludge volume resulted in higher solubilization respectively. There was a rapid increase in solubilization efficiency after 20 minute, then it was measured as 32% of SCOD/TCOD ratio in 1 hour at a ultrasonic power of 1,300W with 1/sludge. Solubilization efficiencies in combined treatment using alkaline and ultrasonic were 47-53% higher than single treatment at a sonicated time of 1 hour. Ozone treatment followed by alkaline treatment also represented the enhanced solubilization compared to ozone treatment. Therefore, ultrasonic or ozone treatment assisted by alkaline could achieve the short treatment time as well as high solubilizetion efficiency.

        A Phase II Study of Gemcitabine Monotherapy in Breast Cancer Patients Refractory to Anthracycline and Taxane

        Purpose: We performed a phase II trial to evaluate theefficacy and the safety of gemcitabine monotherapy, apyrimidine antimetabolite, in patients, who had previouslyfailed anthracycline and taxane-based chemotherapyfor the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.Materials and Methods: Twenty-one patients withmetastatic breast cancer, which was unresponsive toprevious chemotherapy, were entered into this study.Gemcitabine was administered at 850 mg/m2, as a 60-minute intravenous infusion on days 1, 8 and 15. Thisregimen was repeated every 28 days with G-CSF support,but without dose reduction.Results: Objective responses were seen in 6 of the 20patients who were able to be evaluated (1 completeresponse and 5 partial responses), with an objectiveresponse rate of 30%. The median time to progressionwas 5 (1~20) months, and the median overall survivalduration was 11 (2~21) months. The actual dose intensitywas 566.7 mg/m2/wk (range; 340~637.5 mg/m2/wk)and the relative dose intensity was 0.89 (range; 0.40~1.00). Toxicity was mainly hematological. Toxicities included:grade 3 neutropenia in 20% and anemia in 5%.Grades 3 and 4 thrombocytopenia occurred in 15% of thepatients.Conclusion: Gemcitabine monotherapy is an effectiveand safe treatment for refractory breast cancer patientsheavily treated with the anthracycline and taxane- basedregimen.       • Peripheral Blood Inflammatory Cytokines in Idiopathic REM Sleep Behavior Disorder

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Background</B></P><P>Although previous research provides insight into the role of neuroinflammation in idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder, the association of this disorder with peripheral blood inflammatory markers remains unclear.</P><P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To investigate inflammatory cytokines in plasma samples in patients with idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder and to explore whether these markers are associated with prodromal symptoms of α‐synucleinopathies.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>We collected plasma from patients with polysomnographically confirmed idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder without parkinsonism or dementia (n = 54) and from healthy controls (n = 56). The following cytokines were measured: interleukin‐1β, interleukin‐2, interleukin‐6, interleukin‐10, and tumor necrosis factor‐α. The idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder patients underwent sleep, motor, cognitive, olfactory, and autonomic testing.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The anti‐inflammatory cytokine, interleukin‐10, levels in the idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder group were significantly upregulated compared to the control group (<I>P</I> = 0.022), but this difference did not withstand Bonferroni correction. The other proinflammatory cytokine levels did not differ between the groups. No correlation was found between the cytokine levels and any clinical variable.</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>Our data do not provide evidence supporting the role of peripheral inflammation in idiopathic rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder. However, considering the limited statistical power because of the small sample size, further large‐scale longitudinal studies with a broader spectrum of cytokines are needed to clarify this issue. © 2019 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society</P>

        Combined effects of p73 and MDM2 polymorphisms on the risk of lung cancer

        <P>p73, a structural and functional homologue of p53, plays an important role in modulating cell-cycle control and apoptosis. MDM2 represses the transcriptional activity of p73 and thus attenuates its activity. Based on the interaction between p73 and MDM2 in cell-cycle control and apoptosis, we investigated the association between p73 G4C14-to-A4T14 and MDM2 309T > G polymorphisms, alone and in combination, on the risk of lung cancer in a Korean population. The p73 and MDM2 genotypes were determined in 582 lung cancer patients and in 582 healthy control subjects who were frequency-matched for age and gender. The p73 AT/AT and MDM2 309 GG genotypes were associated with a nonsignificant increased risk of lung cancer (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 1.37, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.83–2.24; and adjusted OR = 1.29, 95% CI = 0.92–1.80, respectively), compared with their wild-type genotypes, respectively. When the p73 and MDM2 polymorphisms were combined, the risk of lung cancer increased in a dose-dependent manner as the number of variant alleles increased (P<SUB>trend</SUB> = 0.01). Subjects with three or four variant alleles were at a significantly increased risk of lung cancer (adjusted OR = 1.74, 95% CI = 1.11–2.74, P = 0.02) compared to subjects with zero variant allele. These results suggest an additive effect of the p73 and MDM2 variant alleles on an increased risk of lung cancer. © 2006 Wiley-Liss, Inc.</P>

        Tunneling Magnetoresistance in Sintered Fe_3O_4 Samples Diluted with Fe and α-Fe_2O_3

        Electric transport and magnetoresistance characteristics were investigated for Fe_3O_(4-x) Fe(x=0, 10, 20 wt.%) samples and Fe_3O_(4-α)-Fe_2O_3 samples sintered at 500℃. For composition dependence of Fe_3O_(4-x) Fe samples, the largest room temperature MR, 3.3% at 10 kOe, was obtained from a Fe_3O_4-10 Fe sample. For the surface heat treatment dependence of Fe_3O_4 powders, the largest room temperature MR, 4% at 10 kOe, was obtained from a Fe_3O_(4-α)-Fe_2O_3 sample sintered with Fe_3O_4 powders heated at 200℃ in air. It was found that these enhanced MR ratios always appear together with the appropriate excess resistance which is regarded as the tunneling barrier. These enhanced MR ratios of Fe_3O_4-10 Fe and Fe_3O_(4-α)-Fe_2O_3 samples can be explained by the increased interparticle contact sites and the appropriate thickness of α-Fe_2O_3, respectively.

        <P>Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) has been implicated in synaptic plasticity and other neural functions in the brain. However, the role of individual PI3K isoforms in the brain is unclear. We investigated the role of PI3K gamma in hippocampal-dependent synaptic plasticity and cognitive functions. We found that PI3K gamma has a crucial and specific role in NMDA receptor (NMDAR)-mediated synaptic plasticity at mouse Schaffer collateral-commissural synapses. Both genetic deletion and pharmacological inhibition of PI3K gamma disrupted NMDAR long-term depression (LTD) while leaving other forms of synaptic plasticity intact. Accompanying this physiological deficit, the impairment of NMDAR LTD by PI3K gamma blockade was specifically correlated with deficits in behavioral flexibility. These findings suggest that a specific PI3K isoform, PI3K gamma, is critical for NMDAR LTD and some forms of cognitive function. Thus, individual isoforms of PI3Ks may have distinct roles in different types of synaptic plasticity and may therefore influence various kinds of behavior.</P>
