A 11-year-old intact male maltese dog with respiratory distress, cyanosis and coughing was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. Loud holosystolic murmur with a palpable precordial thrill was heard at the left apex region by auscultation. Left sided cardiac enlargement and mitral regurgitated flow were detected by thoracic radiography and echocardiography, respectively. Clinical signs were improved by treatment of diuretics, ACE inhibitor and pimobendan.

Therapeutic effect by injection-AP with antibiotics plus conventional treatment was investigated to establisha new treatment method for canine demodicosis. Three patients diagnosed into canine demodicosis were used in thepresent study. Injection-AP with enrofloxacin (5 mg/kg, twice a week) was made into the acupoints such as Fei Shu(BL13), Wei Zhong (BL40), Da Zhui (GV14), Zu San Li (ST36), He Gu (LI04), Qu Chi (LI11) and Sang Yin jiao(SP06) for 5 weeks. Further, they were additionally received with conventional treatments including injection ofivermectin (0.5 mg/kg, twice a week, SC) and 0.05% amitraz rinse (twice a week) for 5 weeks. The clinical symptoms(pruritus, excoriation, erythema and alopecia) were much compared by those of pre-treatment. Case 1 became to normal after 4 weeks, Case 2 became to mild after 5 weeksand Case 3 became to normal after 5 weeks. Total WBC revealed decreasing tendency with treatment in all cases,however, N/L ratios didnt show regular pattern of change with treatment. Notable changes were not histopathogicallyfound in skin lesions of Case 1 and Case 3 except Case 2 with mild change after 5 weeks treatment, compared bythose of pre-treatment, respectively. A 15 years old castrated male Pug dog was referred with chief complaint of cough, described as a goosehonk. He was diagnosed into of tracheal collapse by clinical signs and radiography. He was received by injection-AP with butorphanol (0.15 mg/kg, SID) at BL13, LU01, LU05, LU06, LU07, LU09 and CV2 for 10 days, and hewas also received by injection-AP with butorphanol (0.40 mg/kg, SID) at BL13, LU01 and CV22 for 9 days. Thepatient was given with Sochungryong-Tang (0.5 g/head, TID) for 7 days, and he was additionally given withSojagangki-Tang (1 ml/kg, TID) for 12 days. Cough was not detected at all, and tracheal diameter was more increasedup study of three month later was more dilated than that of sesion 19. In conclusion, the present patient was a casewith canine tracheal collapse which showed favorable therapeutic response by injection-AP with butorphanol combinedby administration of herbal medicine.
Structural Origin for the Transcriptional Activity of Human p53

Transcriptional activation domains are known to be inherently "unstructured" with no tertiary structure. A recent NMR study, however, has shown that the transactivation domain in human p53 is populated with an amphipathic helix and two nascent turns. This suggests that the presence of such local secondary structures within the overall "unstructured" structural framework is a general feature of acidic transactivation domains. These pre-existing local structures in p53, formed selectively by positional conserved hydrophobic residues that are known to be critical for transcriptional activity, thus appear to constitute the specific structural motifs that regulate recognition of the p53 transactivation domain by target proteins. Here, we report the results of a NMR structural comparison between the native human p53 transactivation domain and an inactive mutant (22L,23W$\rightarrow$22R,23S). Results show that the mutant has an identical overall structural topology as the native protein, to the extent that the amphipathic helix formed by the residues 18T 26L within the native p53 transactivating domain is preserved in the double mutant. Therefore, the lack of transcriptional activity in the double mutant should be ascribed to the disruption of the essential hydrophobic contacts between the p53 transactivation domain and target proteins due to the (22L,23W$\rightarrow$22R,23S) mutation.

This paper proposes an optimum pipe material (PVC vs. PE) design & selection for open loop ground heat exchangers. Heat exchange efficiency and/or workability, and the need for trench insulation were investigated by comparing EWT (cooling mode) of each system. CFD simulations for the PVC and PE pipe with the same inner diameter show similar EWT. This is because the PVC pipe has a small thickness but a low thermal conductivity as compared to the PE pipe, and thus these two properties tend to offset each other. However, a hypothetically insulated pipe led to a meaningful drop of EWT. This means pipe insulation is of importance in performance of ground heat exchangers. From analyzing climate data and system operation, it is not advantageous to insulate trench pipes due to construction difficulties and ground temperature characteristics that are seasonally varied.

In order to manufacture high quality goods, the engineers who will design them has to have board technical experience as well as profound engineering knowledge. The engineers also be able to design and manufacture well development goods base on new advanced technology. Design process can be defined as transforming activity raw material into finished producted for human needs. The wealth of nation depend on its ability to retrieve natural resources and manufacture goods. Its ability, creation of goods, is most fundamental component of economic wealth of rich country. The rich countries have combine their own design knowledge with computer technology and create new effective design process. In this paper, one of the useful and practice design process created for railway industry is introduced. Base on the concept of this design process, the automatic wheelchair lifter design for railway vehicle is performed.
