Building the simulation environment of massively parallel computer systems has been recognized as a better approach over the experimentation on real machines to study extensively their architectural behaviours at a minimum cost. In this paper, we introduce a parallel processing workbench SKYLAB being implemented on DE C5000/25 and SPARCI workstations for design of node architectures featuring optimal organization for massively parallel processing. For the through analysis of the features of architectures in mind, the SKYLAB comes with thress major components: the compilerbackend translating single-threaded codes into their equivalent multithreaded codes, the node architecture emulator incopperating target CPU for program execution, and the graphic use interface for easy interpretation and expedating the analysis of the statitistics from the simulation runs. The design experience of the node architecture of the DAVRID multithreaded parallel processing computer using the SKYLAB examplifies how much effictively to make experiment on parallel simulations using this integrated toolset.
산화물 반도체 가스센서 어레이와 패턴인식 기술을 이용한 전자코 시스템의 제작과 특성

An electronic nose system using gas sensor arrays and neural-network pattern recognition has been fabricated. The sensor arrays consist of such thin or thick film oxide semiconductor sensing materials as SnO_(2), ZnO and WO_(3) containing a small amount of dopants. The principal component analysis and the neural-network pattern recognition analysis were used for the discrimination of such 6 flavor samples as vegetables(carrot and green onion), perfumes(men's and women's perfume) and alcohols(soju and passport). Good separation among flavor samples was obtained using the principal component analysis. The recognition probability of the neural-network for 6 flovor samples was 93 % for thin film and 98% for thick film type sensor array.

The class of uterine malformation known as communicating uteri is characterized by two uterocervical cavities connected by an isthmic communication. We experienced case of communicating double uterus with double cervix, blind hemivagina and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The complaint of the patient was odorous vaginal discharge with lower abdominal pain unrelated with menstrual cycle. We confirmed these Mullerian anomalies by transvaginal ultrasound. IVP(intravenous pyelography), MRI(magnetic resonance imaging), hysterosalpingography and hysteroscopy. After vaginal septoplasty, her complaint was subsided. We report this case with brief review of literatures.

Post-tensioned precast concrete system(PPS) consists of U-shaped precast wide beams and concrete columns. The continuity of beam-column joint is provided with the topping concrete on the PC shell beam and post-tensioning. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the response of PPS interior beam-column joint subjected to cyclic lateral loading. To this end, the experimental investigation was performed with three half-scale specimens of interior connection. The design parameter is the ratio of beam width to column width. Test results showed that cracks were distributed well and plastic hinges spread toward midspan without any significant degradation of strength and ductility. And the specimens sufficiently resisted up to the limiting drift ratio of 0.035 given by ACI of acceptance criteria for concrete special moment frames.

Bacillus thuringiensis is a gram-positive soil bacterium characterized by its ability to produce crystalline inclusions during sporulation. These parasporal bodies consist of protoxins known as crystal proteins exhibiting highly specific insecticidal activities. The Lepidoptera-specific protoxin, Cry IAc, was purified from E.coli JM103 harboring the cry IAc gene. The gene was isolated from Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki HD-73 and subcloned into an expression vector, pKK223-3. The recombinant DNA(pOS4201) was transformed into E.coli JM103. The Cry I Ac protoxin overexpressed in the E.coli was isolated from the total proteins by differential solubility. The protoxin were trypsinized to obtain activated toxin. The proteins was resolved on SDS gel. The molecular weights of the pro-and toxin were resistered about 130,000 and 65,000 Daltons respectively. The Cry IAc toxin was used as immunogen to produce anti-Cry IAc antiserum in a rabbit. The immunogen (200㎍/ 200㎕) was mixed with an equal volume of Freund's complete adjuvant, and the mixture was hypodermically injected to the hide back (30 spots) and paws (2 spots) of the rabbit. The immunization was performed four times every two weeks. The dosage of the immunogen was decreased by half, and incomplete adjuvant was substituted for the complete one from the second immunization. The serum was prepared from the blood as described elsewhere. Immunoreactivity of the serum was examined by dot-blotting with the aid of GAR-HRP indirect immunoassay kit. It has been found that the anti-Cry I Ac antiserum recognized nano-gram quantity of antigen under these experimental conditions. The antiserum will he used for the development of immunochemical mean(s) to screen transgenic plants transformed by the insecticidal characteristics of Cry I Ac.

In order to identify C_(2)H_(5)OH, (CH_(3))_(3)N and CH_(3)SH gases, a gas recognition system using gas sensor array and pattern recognition technique has been fabricated. The sensor array consists of four thick film oxide semiconductor gas sensors whose sensing layers are Pt-doped SnO_(2), Pd-doped SnO_(2), Pd-doped ZnO and Pd-doped WO_(3). Three kinds of pattern recognition techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA), discrimination analysis (DA) and back propagation (BP) were used for the discrimination of gas species. The identification of C_(2)H_(5)OH, (CH_(3))_(3)N and CH_(3)SH gases has been successfully demonstrated.

This study was conducted to determine the contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees according to different growth stages in Daegu city. The orders of heavy metal contents in leaves of roadside tree and soil were Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Pb〉Cu〉Cr〉Cd and Fe〉Mn〉Zn〉Cu〉Pb〉Cr〉Cd, respectively. The contents of heavy metals in leaves of roadside trees and soil showed an increasing tendency as the levels of traffic volume increased. The contents of heavy metals in leaves on October were higher than those on May.

Uterine myomas are the most common pelvic tumor in women. These benign tumor generally arise in the uterinie wall and intraligamentary myomas are relatively rare cases. We experienced intraligamentary huge myoma. Preoperative GnRH(Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone) agonist therapy was done but the effect was nearly absent. Hystrectomy was done without complication. We report this case with brief review of literatures.

An Ac-type Plasma Display Panel (PDP) operating with Ne-Ar(0.1%) Penning mixture gas is fabicated. The characterics of the panel with electrodes covered with thin and thick dielectric layers are studied. The brightness of the Neon-orange light emitted by the panel measured as function of applied voltage and frequency. As an application, a graphic display system equipped with PDP showing still and moving pictures is made.
