Several strategies exist for treating unclippable aneurysm, including intravaxular techniques, proximal occlusion of the parent artery or trapping of the aneurysm, microsurgical bypass of the involved arterial segment and reinforcement of the aneurysmal wall. Reinforcement or wrapping is frequently used when the other techniques are thought to be unsafe. We report a technical modification of the traditional wrapping technique for treatment of the fusiform aneurysm of the internal carotid artery, which includes reinforced Daron-patch with traction sutures to the adjacent dura to prevent aneurysmal rupture and further expansion.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is autoimmune disorder involving systemic organs and charactehzed commonly by fatigue, fever, myalgia, and arthralgia. Leptospirosis is a kind of K-orean hemorrhagic fever disease and characterized commonly from fever, headache, myalgia severly to jaundice, renal failure, and hemorrhage. A 60-year-o1d woman was presented with febrile sense, myalgia, headache and general weakness, Initially, she was diagnosed as leptospirosis by serological test. Duhng treatment her clinical manifestation was not improved. On followed laboratory data, FANA positive with leukocytopenia and hemolytic anemia. Also anti-cardiolipin antibody, anti-dsDNA antibody and proteinuna was found. The serological titer of leptospirosis was not increased by four times. So, we coneluded that she had SLE and prescribed steroids. After that, her clinical manifestations were improved. Therefore, we report here on a case of SLE misdiagnosed as leptospirosis. 루푸스는 전신을 침범하는 질환으로 특히 임상 증상이 비특이적일 경우에 여러 다른 감염성 질환들로 오인될 수 있으며, 그에 따라 진다닝 늦어질수록 치료시작 시점도 늦어지게 되며, 치료 시기를 놓치게 되면 환자의 예후는 불량해진다. 본 증례는 렙토스피라증으로 입원한 환자에서 고식적인 항생제 치료를 하였으나 호전을 보이지 않았으며 임상 경과 과정중 시행한 자가면역 혈청 검사상 루푸스가 진단된 경우였다. 이에 렙토스피라증으로 오인된 루푸스 1례를 경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

The photophysical properties and the singlet oxygen generation efficiencies of meso-tetraphenyl-trithiasapphyrin $(S_3TPS)$ and meso-tetmkis(p-methoxy phenyl)-trithiasapphy rin ((p-MeO)-$S_3TPS$) have been investigated, utilizing steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopic methods to elucidate the possibility of their use as photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy (PDT). The observed photophysical properties were compared with those of other porphyrin-like photosensitizers in geometrical and electronic structural aspects, such as extended ${\pi}$ conjugation, structural distortion, and internal heavy atoms. The steady-state electronic absorption and fluorescence spectra were both red-shifted due to the extended ${\pi}$-conjugation. The fluorescence quantum yields were measured as very small. Even though intersystem crossing rates were expected to increase due to the increment of spin orbital coupling, the triplet quantum yields were measured as less than 0.15. Such characteristics can be ascribed to the more enhanced internal conversion rates compared with the intersystem crossing rates. Furthermore, the triplet state lifetimes were shortened to -1.0 ${\mu}s$ as expected. Therefore, the singlet oxygen quantum yields were estimated to be near zero due to the fast triplet state decay rates and the inefficient energy transfer to the oxygen molecule as well as the low triplet quantum yields. The low efficiencies of energy transfer to the oxygen molecule can be attributed to the lower oxidation potential and/or the energetically low lying triplet state. Such photophysical factors should be carefully evaluated as potential photosensitizers that have extended ${\pi}$-conjugation and heavy core atoms synthesized for red-shifted absorption and high triplet state quantum yields.
Two Cases of Spontaneous Auricular Chondritis in Sprague-Dawley(SD) Rats

Two cases of spontaneous auricular chondritis were reported in SD rats in a 13-week toxicity study. At necropsy, pinna of each rats had firm, irregular nodules. Based on the anatomical location and histopathological features of the lesion, the disease was diagnosed as auricular chondritis.

<P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To determine the utility of intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM)-1 antibody-conjugated gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA-anti-ICAM-1) as a targeted contrast agent for the molecular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA).</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>Three groups of mice were used: non-arthritic normal, CIA mice in both the early inflammatory and chronic destructive phases. The MR images of knee joints were obtained before and after injection of Gd-DTPA-anti-ICAM-1, Gd-DTPA, and Gd-DTPA-Immunoglobulin G (Ig G) and were analyzed quantitatively. The patterns of enhancement on the MR images were compared with the histological and immunohistochemical ICAM-1 staining.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The images obtained after injection of Gd-DTPA-anti-ICAM-1 displayed gradually increasing signal enhancement from the moment following injection (mean ± standard deviation [SD]: 424.3 ± 35.2, n = 3) to 24 hours (532 ± 11.3), rather than on pre-enhanced images (293 ± 37.6) in the early inflammatory phase of CIA mice. However, signal enhancement by Gd-DTPA and Gd-DTPA-IgG disappeared after 80 minutes and 24 hours, respectively. In addition, no significant enhancement was seen in the chronic destructive phase of CIA mice, even though they also showed inflammatory changes on T2-weighted MR images. ICAM-1 expression was demonstrated in the endothelium and proliferating synovium of the early inflammatory phase of CIA mice, but not in the chronic destructive phase.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Molecular MRI with Gd-DTPA-anti-ICAM-1 displays specific images targeted to ICAM-1 that is expressed in the inflamed synovium of CIA. This novel tool may be useful for the early diagnosis and differentiation of the various stages of rheumatoid arthritis.</P>

A reference range data base containing organ weight values on animals used in 4 week and 13 week toxicity tests is described. Data listed include the values of minimum, maximum, mean and standard deviation for each of the following organ weights. Organs: Briain, heart, liver, spleen, kidney, adrerial gland, testis, ovary. This study was undertaken to determine organ weight reference values of Ktc: SD rats.
