        Radiation Generation with an Existing Demonstrator of an Energy-Recovery Continuous-Wave Superconducting RF Accelerator

        Over the past decades, many accelerator laboratories have put much effort into the development of compact energy-recovery linac (ERL) demonstrators to verify various physical and technical aspects of the generation, acceleration, transport and energy recovery of high brightness and high average current electron beams in a superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) linear accelerator. Beyond these goals, the ERL demonstrator also offers unique opportunities to study novel schemes for THz and X-ray radiation generation. In this paper, we discuss feasible options for schemes generating THz and X-ray radiation at low-energy continuous-wave (CW) SRF ERL demonstrators such as the bERLinPro accelerator.

        Efficacy of Chorionic Plate-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Isolated from Placenta in CCl4-Injured Rat Liver Depends on Transplantation Routes

        The capability to engraft into degenerative environment or damaged tissues is considered crucial to maximize the therapeutic effect of stem cells in tissue regeneration. Human chorionic plate-derived mesenchymal stem cells (CP-MSCs) isolated from the placenta have been reported to have therapeutic effects in animal models of liver injury. However, the effect of transplantation route has not been evaluated. Thus, we investigated to identify optimal transplantation conditions of CP-MSCs for functional recovery of injured liver. PKH26 labeled CP-MSCs was engrafted into carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-injured rat model through direct transplantation into the liver (DTP), intrasplenic transplantation (STP), and intravenous transplantation via the tail vein (TTP). Non transplanted (NTP) rats were maintained as sham controls. Serum and liver tissues were analyzed post 1-, 2-, 3-week after transplantation. The engraftment of cells was higher in DTP and STP group until 3-week post transplantation. In blood chemistry, the levels of glutamate-oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT/AST), glutamate-pyruvate transaminase (GPT/ALT) and total bilirubin (TBIL) in DTP and STP rats were significantly decreased compare to those of NTP rats (p < 0.01). In addition, the expression and deposition of type I collagen in DTP and STP rats was significantly reduced when they compared with NTP animals (p < 0.01). Therapeutic efficacy was better in DTP and STP rats than in TTP group. These results suggest that the administration of CP-MSCs via STP is an effective way for their therapeutic potential. These results provide useful guidelines for the application of basic transplantation technology to the cell therapy of liver disease using placenta-derived stem cells.

      • Clinical evaluation and study on the health-related behaviors of Korean patients with rosacea

        Background: Traditionally, rosacea is classified into erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), papulopustular rosacea (PPR), and phymatous and ocular rosacea. Recently, rosacea is regarded as a combination of various phenotypes that are classified as one or more subtypes. It is important to control the daily health-related behaviors because rosacea is easy to recur. Objectives: To analyze the clinical characteristics of Korean rosacea patients and which behavior factors affect disease symptoms Methods: We classified phenotypes of rosacea according to the classification provided by the National Rosacea Society in 2017 and recorded health-related behaviors. Statistical analysis was performed to confirm the association between the presence and the severity of each subtype of rosacea and clinical and health-related behavior factors. Results: A Total of 82 patients included. ETR was 62 patients and PPR was 59 patients, and 39 cases were both. Flushing was the most frequent phenotype. The presence of fixed erythema and papules and pustules was associated with increased severity of ETR and PPR, respectively. The severity of ETR was correlated with the frequency of sun exposure and the severity of PPR showed inverse correlation with the frequency of exposure of hot foods. The increase in the grade of ETR did not lead to more PPR. Conclusion: This study can be used to understand the characteristics of Korean rosacea and to educate the patients about behavior factors to control the disease.

        NH₃-SCR 반응에서 스팀 처리된 zeolite BEA 촉매의 영향

        아산화질소(N₂O)는 6대 온실가스 중 하나로 이산화탄소(CO₂)의 310배에 해당하는 지구온난화지수(global warming potential, GWP)를 나타내어 N₂O를 저감하는 것은 필수적이다. 선택적 촉매환원법(selective catalytic reduction, SCR)은 대기 오염 물질의 하나인 NOx의 제거를 위해 암모니아를 환원제로 사용하여 무해한 N₂ 및 H₂O로 전환하는 기술로 높은 탈질효율을 나타낸다. 본 연구에서는NH₃-SCR반응에서 스팀 처리된 Fe-BEA촉매가 활성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 Fe-BEA 촉매는 Fe를 이온교환하기 전, 고정층 반응기로 100℃에서 2h 동안 스팀 처리 되었다. 제조된 촉매의 NH₃-SCR반응 테스트는 고정층 반응기로 WHSV = 180 h<SUP>-1</SUP>, 370 ~400℃에서 수행되었다. 100℃ 에서 스팀 처리된 Fe-BEA(100) 촉매가 370 ~ 390℃에서 Fe-BEA촉매보다 다소 높은 활성을 나타내었다. NH₃-SCR 활성에 영향을 주는 원인을 파악하기 위하여 제조된 촉매는 BET, ICP, NH₃-TPD, H₂-TPR, <SUP>27</SUP>Al MAS NMR을 통하여 특성분석 되었다. H₂-TPR결과를 통해 Fe-BEA(100) 촉매가 Fe-BEA 촉매 보다 isolated Fe<SUP>3+</SUP>의 환원이 더 많이 일어난 것을 확인하였으며, 스팀 처리는 활성종인 isolated Fe<SUP>3+</SUP>의 양을 늘려주어 활성이 증가한 것으로 판단된다. Nitrous oxide (N₂O) is one of the six greenhouse gases, and it is essential to reduce N₂O by showing a global warming potential (GWP) equivalent to 310 times that of carbon dioxide (CO₂). Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a technology that converts ammonia into harmless N₂ and H₂O by using ammonia as a reducing agent to remove NOx, one of the air pollutants; the process also produces high denitrification efficiency. In this study, the Fe-BEA catalyst was steam-treated at 100°C for 2h before Fe ion exchange in the fixed bed reactor in order to investigate the effect of the steam-treated Fe-BEA catalyst on the NH₃-SCR reaction. NH₃-SCR reaction test of synthesized catalysts was performed at WHSV = 180 h<SUP>-1</SUP>, 370 to 400°C in the fixed bed reactor. The Fe-BEA(100) catalyst steam-treated at 100 °C showed a somewhat higher activity than the Fe-BEA catalyst at 370 to 390 °C. The catalysts were characterized by BET, ICP, NH₃-TPD,H₂-TPR, and <SUP>27</SUP>Al MAS NMR in order to determine the cause affecting NH₃-SCR activity. The H₂-TPR result confirmed that the Fe-BEA(100) catalyst had a higher reduction of isolated Fe<SUP>3+</SUP> than the Fe-BEA catalyst, and that the steam treatment increased the amount of isolated Fe<SUP>3+</SUP> as an active species, thus increasing the activity.

        Ecological Attributes of Species Composition by Topographical Positions in the Natural Deciduous Forest

        Based upon the vegetation data of woody plants by plot sampling method in the natural deciduous forest of Mt. Jeombong, the study was carried out to examine importance value, rank abundance curve, and species abundance curve, and comparatively evaluate seven different species diversity indices for Shannon-Wiener index, Simpson index, McIntosh index, Log series, Margalef index, Berger-Parker index, and species richness, according to topographic positions. The minimal area which meant only few more species were increased was 3.48 ha in total. The dominant species of valley were Carpinus cordata, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Quercus mongolica, Acer mono, and Abies holophylla, and the dominant species of mid-slope were Quercus mongolica, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Carpinus cordata, Tilia amurensis, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla. Moreover, the dominant species of ridge were Quercus mongolica, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Tilia amurensis, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, and Acer mono. According to rank abundance curve and species abundance curve, species evenness was also low. All of Log series, species richness, Margalef, and Shannon-Wiener index discriminated that valley had the highest diversity, and ridge had the lowest diversity; but, Simpson index, McIntosh index, and Berger-Parker index represented that mid-slope had the highest diversity, and ridge had the lowest diversity. Uniquely, in Berger-Parker index, mid-slope was the higher value than total.

        The Replication Protein Cdc6 Suppresses Centrosome Over-Duplication in a Manner Independent of Its ATPase Activity

        The Cdc6 protein is essential for the initiation of chromosomal replication and functions as a licensing factor to maintain chromosome integrity. During the S and G2 phases of the cell cycle, Cdc6 has been found to inhibit the recruitment of pericentriolar material (PCM) proteins to the centrosome and to suppress centrosome over-duplication. In this report, we analyzed the correlation between these two functions of Cdc6 at the centrosome. Cdc6 depletion increased the population of cells showing centrosome over-duplication and premature centrosome separation; Cdc6 expression reversed these changes. Deletion and fusion experiments revealed that the 18 amino acid residues (197-214) of Cdc6, which were fused to the Cdc6-centrosomal localization signal, suppressed centrosome over-duplication and premature centrosome separation. Cdc6 mutant proteins that showed defective ATP binding or hydrolysis did not exhibit a significant difference in suppressing centrosome over-duplication, compared to the wild type protein. In contrast to the Cdc6-mediated inhibition of PCM protein recruitment to the centrosome, the independence of Cdc6 on its ATPase activity for suppressing centrosome over-duplication, along with the difference between the Cdc6 protein regions participating in the two functions, suggested that Cdc6 controls centrosome duplication in a manner independent of its recruitment of PCM proteins to the centrosome.

        진동수에 따른 전신진동운동이 하지근 파워 및 점프 수행력에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to verify the differences on power generation of lower limb and the optimum frequency to maximize the power. The subject of this study was chosen as 10 able-bodied male students in college on N university, Chungcheongnam-do, whom there is no medical history about motor disturbance, paresthesia, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and listened about the purposes, methods and risks of study, and written the participation agreement. Using random sampling method, 10 subjects kept an upright posture on the Turbo-Trainer during 5 minutes as the frequency of 8㎐, 26㎐, 40㎐ in order to fit each order, and then practiced 5 times multiple jump on the Accupower for measuring the lower limb power, finally measured maximum power, mean power, maximum jump height and mean jump height through the ground reaction force. Using SPSS 18.0, the data process of this study calculated as mean (M) and standard deviation (SD) of all measured value, used one-way repeated measure ANOVA in order to verify the significant difference between maximum power, mean power, maximum jump height, mean jump height at each frequency. The significant level of hypothesis verification is set-up as α=.05. The results of this study are follows. 1) The maximum power of whole body vibration showed significant differences at the 26㎐ only compared with before implementation(p <.01). 2) The mean power of whole body vibration showed significant differences at the 26㎐ only compared with before implementation(p<.05). 3) The maximum jump height of whole body vibration showed significant differences at the 26㎐ only compared with before implementation(p<.05). 4) The mean jump height of whole body vibration showed significant differences at the 26㎐ only compared with before implementation(p<.05). In summary, during whole body vibration according to frequency affect to lower limb power at 26㎐, the optimum frequency except mean jump height has verified at 26㎐ due to the significant difference has been appeared at the maximum power, mean power, maximum jump height except mean jump height. Therefore, this study is provided to sports scientist, supervisor, coach, trainer and player whom need the enhancement of lower limb power as scientific basic data and will be contributed to their performance enhancement.

        크론병에서 발생한 급성 골수성 백혈병 1예

        Various hematological disorders, including iron deficency anemia and thrombocytosis, are known as extraintestinal rnanifestations of Crohns disease (CD). In addition, recent studies suggest that incidence of leukemia is higher in patients with CD than in the normal population. In the literature review, thirteen cases of leukemia associated with CD have been described since 1980. The etiology of leukemia in CD seems to be multifactorial and may involve immunologic abnormalities associated with CD, exposure to diagnostic radiation or side-effects of immuno- suppressants. A thirty-one year old female patient was diagnosed to have CD in 1991 and treated with sulfasalazine, corticosteroid, azathioprine and metronidazole, and then developed leukocytosis, severe anemia and marked thrombocytopenia. A diagnosis of acute myelomonocytic leukemia was established by bone marrow cytology and biopsy. Chromosomal analysis of bone marrow aspirate revealed t (8:21) with loss of sex chromosome. In conclusion when the patients with CD develop leukocytosis, marked anemia and thrombocytopenia, we should consider the, possibility of leukemia.
