A method of bedside urethrography before catheterization in pelvic trauma in Korea: a case report
( Hojun Lee ),( Sung Yub Jeong ),( Kun Hwang ) 대한외상학회 2023 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.36 No.4
We introduce a convenient method of urethrography before catheterization for patients with pelvic trauma that can be used in a resuscitation area. A 10-mL syringe without a needle was used. X-ray contrast medium (Iohexol, 300 mg I/mL) was administered through the urethral orifice using a 10-mL syringe without needle and a simple pelvic anteroposterior film was taken (70 kilovolt [peak], 50 mAs). A 36-year-old soldier with a saddle injury from a gun barrel was taken to a trauma center. He had a pelvic fracture and complained of hematuria. Bedside urethrography above described was performed. The anterior urethra showed nonspecific findings, but dye leaked from the posterior urethra. Bedside Foley catheter insertion was attempted, but the catheter could not be advanced past the membranous urethra. Thereafter, suprapubic catheterization was performed. On the day of the injury, iliac artery embolization was carried out. The dislocated sacroiliac joint was also treated using open reduction and internal fixation. On hospital day 7, guidewire Foley insertion was performed. This bedside urethrography technique is simple and useful for pelvic fractures in which urethral injury is suspected.

Here we report our recent result of a new semiconductor material, which has an asymmetric structure. The synthesized molecules consist of anthracene and thiophene connected by bridged ethylene and substituted with hexyl or dodecyl groups as pendants. The semiconductors were synthesized using a McMurry coupling reaction between anthracene-2-carbaldehyde and corresponding 5-hexyl(or dodecyl)thiophene-2-carbaldehyde. A first investigation of synthesized asymmetry AVHT (9a) and AVDT (9b) for the physical properties showed that they have high oxidation potential and thermal stability. The devices prepared by using AVHT (9a) and AVDT (9b) showed the mobility of $2.6{\times}10^{-2}cm^2/Vs$ and $4.4{\times}10^{-3}cm^2/Vs$, respectively, in solution processed OTFTs.
Thermal annealing-driven surface sealing of polymeric bowl

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We investigate surface sealing behavior of polymer hollow particles with an open hole on their surfaces during thermal annealing. A series of processes involving synthesis of polystyrene (PS) solid particles, their swelling with the use of a swelling solvent, and freeze-drying enable us to make hollow particles with a controllable structure including outer/inner diameter and surface hole size. Based on structural change of the hollow particles experimentally observed during thermal annealing above the glass transition temperature of the polymer, we analyze theoretically the sealing behavior of the hollow particles. The experimental and theoretical results conclude that the structure of as-prepared hollow particles determines whether the successful sealing of the particles can be achieved or not.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Polystyrene hollow particles with a surface hole were fabricated by a series of processes of swelling and freeze-drying. </LI> <LI> Their surface sealing behavior driven by thermal annealing was experimentally observed and theoretically analyzed. </LI> <LI> The results conclude that the structure of as-prepared hollow particles is critical for achievement of their sealing. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
MULTI-APERTURE IMAGE PROCESSING USING DEEP LEARNING
GEONHO HWANG,CHANG HOON SONG,TAE KYUNG LEE,HOJUN NA,MYUNGJOO KANG 한국산업응용수학회 2023 Journal of the Korean Society for Industrial and A Vol.27 No.1
In order to obtain practical and high-quality satellite images containing high- frequency components, a large aperture optical system is required, which has a limitation in that it greatly increases the payload weight. As an attempt to overcome the problem, many multi-aperture optical systems have been proposed, but in many cases, these optical systems do not include high-frequency components in all directions, and making such an high-quality image is an ill-posed problem. In this paper, we use deep learning to overcome the limitation. A deep learning model receives low-quality images as input, estimates the Point Spread Function, PSF, and combines them to output a single high-quality image. We model images obtained from three rectangular apertures arranged in a regular polygon shape. We also propose the Modula- tion Transfer Function Loss, MTF Loss, which can capture the high-frequency components of the images. We present qualitative and quantitative results obtained through experiments.
