        Crushed sand is made by crushing the rock artificially. With the wide shortage of natural fine aggregates at all regions in Korea. crushed sand has been increasingly consumed as a alternative aggreagtes of natural sand. But there is insufficient information related to the actual situation on the produce. quality and manufacturing company of crushed sand. In this paper. survey is performed in order to know actual consumption situation of crushed sand through ready mixed concrete company in domestic. The remicon companies using crushed sand were estimated with 55%. According to the using method of crushed sand. most remicon company used fine aggregates by mixing natural sand and crushed sand. It is found that natural sand is replaced by crushed sand by about 20~50%. For quality problems in using crushed sand. grain shape. grade and fine particles shall be improved to meet the quality requirement of remicon and wide application. Therefore. it is found that quality improvement of crushed sand is required.

        Development of gradient composite shielding material for shielding neutrons and gamma ray

        In this study, a gradient material for shielding neutrons and gamma rays was developed, which consists of epoxy resin, boron carbide (B4C), lead (Pb) and a little graphene oxide. It aims light weight and compact, which will be applied on the transportable nuclear reactor. The material is made up of sixteen layers, and the thickness and components of each layer were designed by genetic algorithm (GA) combined with Monte Carlo N Particle Transport (MCNP). In the experiment, the viscosities of the epoxy at different temperatures were tested, and the settlement regularity of Pb particles and B4C particles in the epoxy was simulated by matlab software. The material was manufactured at 25 °C, the Pb C and O elements of which were also tested, and the result was compared with the outcome of the simulation. Finally, the material's shielding performance was simulated by MCNP and compared with the uniformity material's. The result shows that the shielding performance of gradient material is more effective than that of the uniformity material, and the difference is most noticeable when the materials are 30 cm thick.

        Isoindolin-1-ones from the stems of Nicotiana tabacum and their antiviral activities

        In previous studies, several isoindolin-1-oneanalogs that exhibited signifi cant anti-tobacco mosaic virus(anti-TMV) activities were isolated from Nicotiana tabacum . Since gene-editing mutants provide a new sample for thediscovery of active metabolites, we focused on the stems ofYN-18–23 (a mutant N. tabacum for gene editing with thealkaloid metabolic pathway cultivated by Yunnan TobaccoCompany), which led to the isolation of four new ( 1–4 )and four known ( 5–8 ) isoindolin-1-ones. To the best of ourknowledge, nicindole C ( 3 ) is the fi rst subclass of isoindolin-1-one bearing a pentacyclic ketone, while nicindole D ( 4 )is the fi rst example of isoindolin-1-one bearing a methylpyridin-2-(1 H )-one moiety. Compounds 1–4 were testedfor their anti-TMV activities, and the results revealed thatcompounds 1 , 3 , and 4 exhibited high anti-TMV activities atconcentrations of 20 μM with inhibition rates of 48.6, 42.8,and 71.5%, respectively. These rates are higher than the inhibitionrate of the positive control (33.2%). The mechanisticstudy of compound 4 , which had the highest anti-TMV activityrevealed that increased potentiation of defense-related enzyme activities and downregulation of expression of theNtHsp70 protein may induce resistance in tobacco againstthe viral pathogen TMV. Molecular docking studies alsorevealed that the isoindolin-1-one substructure is fundamentalfor anti-TMV activity. The methyl-pyridin-2-(1 H )-onemoiety in compound 4 and the 2-oxopropyl groups in compounds1 and 3 at the N -2 position may increase inhibitoryactivities. This study of the structure–activity relationshipis helpful for fi nding new anti-TMV activity inhibitors. Tostudy whether the isoindolin-1-ones have broader antiviralactivities, compounds 1–4 were also tested for their antirotavirusactivities. Compound 4 exhibited high anti-rotavirusactivity with a therapeutic index (TI) value of 20.7. This TI value is close to that of the positive control (20.2).

        Some Physical Properties of a Surrounding-Gate MOSFET with Undoped Body

        A kind of Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect-Transistor (MOSFET) with a surrounding gate is presented. Some physical properties of the MOSFET are obtained by solving Poisson’s equation analytically. We propose a new criteria for the threshold voltage, and the threshold voltage is obtained in due course. The threshold voltage of a surrounding-gate nMOSFET is influenced by the thickness of the oxide and the radius of the cylinder. It’s also influenced by the work function difference between the gate electrode and intrinsic silicon. A MOSFET with a thinner oxide or a smaller radius will have a higher threshold voltage. We can obtain a desirable threshold voltage by choosing the right material for the gate and the right size for the MOSFET.

        Study on the design and experimental verification of multilayer radiation shield against mixed neutrons and γ-rays

        The traditional methods for radiation shield design always only focus on either the structure or the components of the shields rather than both of them at the same time, which largely affects the shielding performance of the facilities, so in this paper, a novel method for designing the structure and components of shields simultaneously is put forward to enhance the shielding ability. The method is developed by using the genetic algorithm (GA) and the MCNP software. In the research, six types of shielding materials with different combinations of elements such as polyethylene (PE), lead (Pb) and Boron compounds are applied to the radiation shield design, and the performance of each material is analyzed and compared. Then two typical materials are selected based on the experiment result of the six samples, which are later verified by the Compact Accelerator Neutron Source (CANS) facility. By using this method, the optimal result can be reached rapidly, and since the design progress is semi-automatic for most procedures are completed by computer, the method saves time and improves accuracy.

        Analytic Investigation on the Threshold Voltage of Fully-Depleted Surrounding-Gate Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistors

        Analytic solutions for the surrounding-gate (SG) metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) are obtained by solving Poisson's equation. The analytic expressions for the electric potential and the threshold voltage are obtained by taking into account the short-channel effects. Our analytic results fit with other numerical and simulated results quite well. The analytic expressions will be of great help in ultralarge-scale integrated-circuit (ULSI) design.       • Novel Classification for Right Posterior Portal Vein (RPPV) Evaluated by SYNAPSE VINCENT

        Aims: There was no consensus on right posterior section (RPS) graft was a routine option for adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). The main reason for it was that the vascular pedicles of the RPS graft which was the second order branches were complicated. And there was no deep and detailed description of the patterns of the 2<sup>nd</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup> portal branch in RPS. The present study is an attempt to describe the patterns of the 2<sup>nd</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup> portal branch in RPPV. Methods: Between November 2008 and January 2017, a total of 106 preoperative liver multidetector-row computed tomography (MDCT) images were obtained from the donor and the 3D images were reconstructed by SYNAPSE VINCENT medical imaging system. The patterns of the 2<sup>nd</sup>, 3<sup>rd</sup> portal branch of the RPPV were investigated using SYNAPSE VINCENT medical imaging system. Results: We classified the RPPV into four types. Type A: the RPPV have a common trunk (more than 5mm) with two main 3<sup>rd</sup> order branch (36 cases, 34%); Type B: there was no common trunk with two main 2<sup>nd</sup> order branch (16 cases, 15%); Type C: there was one major common trunk with multiple 3<sup>rd</sup> order branch (48 cases, 45.3%); Type D: the right posterior section have sliding branches to/from anterior portal vein (6 cases, 5.7%). The median length of the type A portal trunk was 12.35mm (range 5.0mm-28.7mm). In the present study, there were 16 cases of right posterior sector (RPS) graft which were selected by volumetry-Based criteria. There was only one RPS graft has multiple portal veins opening. Conclusions: The Couinaud segment was not always supplied with one inflow portal pedicle. In the present study, there were 52 cases (Type A and B, 49%) which one segment has only one inflow portal pedicle. Others, 54 cases which one segment have two or more 3rd inflow portal pedicle. RPPV type C and D could not apply with anatomic segmentectomy, only the systematic resection is possible.

        Surgical treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma with bile duct invasion

        Purpose: There is still some debate on surgical procedures for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with bile duct tumor thrombi (BDTT, Ueda type 3 or 4). What is adequate extent of liver resection for curative treatment? Is extrahepatic bile duct resection mandatory for cure? The aim of this study is to answer these questions. Methods: Between February 1994 and December 2012, 877 consecutive HCC patients underwent hepatic resection at Ajou University Hospital. Thirty HCC patients (3.4%) with BDTT (Ueda type 3 or 4) were retrospective reviewed in this study. Results: In total, 20 patients enrolled in this study were divided into 2 groups: patients who underwent hemihepatectomy with extrahepatic bile duct resection (group 1, n = 10) and with only removal of BDTT (group 2, n = 10). The 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 75.0%, 50.0%, and 27.8%, respectively. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates of group 1 were 100.0%, 80.0%, and 45.7%, and those of group 2 were 50.0%, 20.0%, and 10.0%, respectively (P = 0.014). The 1-, 3-, and 5-year recurrences free survival rates of group 1 were 90.0%, 70.0%, and 42.0%, and those of group 2 were 36.0%, 36.0%, and 0%, respectively (P = 0.014). Thrombectomy and infiltrative growth type (Ig) were found as independent prognostic factors for recurrence free survival by multivariate analysis. Thrombectomy, Ig, and high indocyanine green retention rate at 15 minutes were found as independent prognostic factors for overall survival by multivariate analysis. Conclusion: We suggest that the appropriate surgical procedure for icteric HCC patients should be comprised of ipsilateral hemihepatectomy with caudate lobectomy and extrahepatic bile duct resection.
