Considering the important influence of longtime (150 day) moromi fermentation and heat treatment on the aroma formation of traditional Chinese-type soy sauce (TCSS), volatile compounds in samples taken from different stages of moromi fermentation and heat treatment were analyzed by solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results showed that a total of 76 volatile compounds were identified in all the samples, and most of the volatile compounds were common. During 150 day of moromi fermentation, relative contents of acids, alcohols, aldehydes and ketones, esters, and furan(one)s along with all the sensory attributes of acidic, alcoholic, fruity, caramel-like, smoky, and malty changed greatly. Notably, relative contents of alcohols, aldehydes and ketones along with the sensory intensities of alcoholic, caramel-like, and smoky of heated sample (80℃/60 min) decreased markedly, whereas there were slight increases in relative contents of furan(one)s, phenols, and sulfur-containing compounds of it. Long-time moromi fermentation and heat treatment have significant influence on the formation and relative contents of volatile compounds in TCSS, whereas changes in volatile compounds and their relative contents of the samples were responsible for the differences in sensory attributes.

Zhang, Feng-Jun,Sun, Xian-Yang,Li, Xuan,Kong, Cui,Liu, Jin,Chen, Qian-Bao,Oh, Won-Chun Materials Research Society of Korea 2019 한국재료학회지 Vol.29 No.11
In this paper, a water-based green polymer mud is synthesized by simple compounding method. Effects of different kinds of tackifiers, their molecular weight on the viscosity of polymer mud and the effects of different fluid loss additives on mud fluid loss are studied. The results show that when polystyrene and anionic polyacrylamide with molecular weight of 8 ~ 10 million are used as the main thickening ingredient, polymer mud with high viscosity and high stability can be obtained. When the prepared polymer mud is formulated as NPAM: PEO: Hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC) : Water = 42:10:10:100000 (unit: kg), the viscosity can reach 20.6 s, the filtration loss in 7.5 min is 24 mL, and the sand content is only 0.1 %. Compared with traditional bentonite mud, the green environment-friendly polymer mud has the advantages of small amount of waste, low environmental pollution, and low pulping cost, and can meet the construction needs for most topography and geomorphology drilling engineering.
Time-dependent Nonlinear Theory and Numerical Simulation of Folded Waveguide Traveling Wave Tubes
Wei Feng Peng,Zhong Hai Yang,Yu Lu Hu,Zan Cao,Yin-Fu Hu,Jin-Jun Feng,Xian-Ping Wu 한국물리학회 2013 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.62 No.6
In this paper, a time-dependent nonlinear theory including the generalized time-dependent radiofrequency (RF) field equations is presented to simulate the beam and wave interaction (BWI) of folded waveguide (FWG) traveling wave tubes (TWTs). The analytical RF fields in FWG TWTs are replaced by digitized RF field profiles obtained from electromagnetic simulations. A W-band FWG TWT is studied by using a self-consistent one-dimensional code based on the theory. The numerical results show good predictions when compared with the experimental tests.

The effect of constant temperatures on development and survival of Lista haraldusalis (Walker) (Lepidoptera:Pyralidae), a newly reported insect species used to produce insect tea in Guizhou province (China), was studiedin laboratory conditions at seven temperatures (19 °C, 22 °C, 25 °C, 28 °C, 31 °C, 34 °C, and 37 °C) on Platycaryastrobilacea. Increasing the temperature from 19 °C to 31 °C led to a significant decrease in the developmentaltime from egg to adult emergence, and then the total developmental time increased at 34 °C. Egg incubationwas the stage where L. haraldusalis experienced the highest mortality at all temperatures. The survival ofL. haraldusalis was significantly higher at 25 °C and 28 °C, whereas none of the eggs hatched at 37 °C. Commonand Ikemoto linear models were used to describe the relationship between the temperature and the developmentalrate for each immature stage of L. haraldusalis. The estimated values of the lower temperature thresholdand thermal constant of the total immature stages using Common and Ikemoto linear models were 11.34 °C and11.20 °C, and 939.85 and 950.41 degree-days, respectively. Seven nonlinear models were used to fit the experimentaldata to estimate the developmental rate of L. haraldusalis. Based on the biological significance for modelevaluation, Ikemoto linear, Logan-6, and SSI were the best models that fitted each immature stage ofL. haraldusalis and they were used to estimate the temperature thresholds. These thermal requirements and temperaturethresholds are crucial for facilitating the development of factory-based mass rearing of L. haraldusalis.

The leafhopper Cicadella viridis (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae), a sap-sucking insect, is a notorious pest of fruit trees and seedlings. They harbor “Candidatus sulcia merii” which is an obligatory symbiotic bacteriumhoused in a special organ called the bacteriome. In this study universal eubacterial primers 27F and 1513R were used to amplify approximately 1462 bp of symbiotic bacteria 16S rRNA gene fromC. viridis. Cloning, sequencing, and phylogenetic analysis targeting the 16S rRNA gene revealed the presence of bacteria stably associated with C. viridis, and a Rickettsia endosymbiont was detected for the first time in this species. Rickettsia endosymbiont localization was studied using quantitative PCR which showed that it was found in all developmental stages. It was also co-localized in the bacteriomes, ovaries, testes, guts, and salivary glands. By an antibiotic treatment, the antibiotic-treated insects exhibited lower Rickettsia infection density than the untreated

Ternary MoS2/graphene (G)-TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. The morphology, phase structure, band gap, and catalytic properties of the prepared samples were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrophotometry, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area measurement. The H2 production efficiency of the prepared catalysts was tested in methanol-water mixture under visible light. MoS2/G-TiO2 exhibited the highest activity for photocatalytic H2 production. For 5 wt.% and 1 wt.% MoS2 and graphene (5MT-1G), the production rate of H2 was as high as 1989 µmol-1h-1. The catalyst 5MT-1G showed H2 production activity that was ~ 11.3, 5.6, and 4.1 times higher than those of pure TiO2, 1GT, and 5MT, respectively. The unique structure and morphology of the MoS2/G-TiO2 photocatalyst contributed to its improved hydrogen production efficiency under visible light.
Characterization and uncertainty of uplift load-displacement behaviour of belled piers
Lu, Xian-long,Qian, Zeng-zhen,Zheng, Wei-feng,Yang, Wen-zhi Techno-Press 2016 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.11 No.2
A total of 99 full-scale field load tests at 22 sites were compiled for this study to elucidate several issues related to the load-displacement behaviour of belled piers under axial uplift loading, including (1) interpretation criteria to define various elastic, inelastic, and "failure" states for each load test from the load-displacement curve; (2) generalized correlations among these states and determinations to the predicted ultimate uplift resistances; (3) uncertainty in the resistance model factor statistics required for reliability-based ultimate limit state (ULS) design; (4) uncertainty associated with the normalized load-displacement curves and the resulting model factor statistics required for reliability-based serviceability limit state (SLS) design; and (5) variations of the combined ULS and SLS model factor statistics for reliability-based limit state designs. The approaches discussed in this study are practical and grounded realistically on the load tests of belled piers with minimal assumptions. The results on the characterization and uncertainty of uplift load-displacement behaviour of belled piers could be served as to extend the early contributions for reliability-based ULS and SLS designs.
Analytical and Numerical Studies on Steel Columns with Novel Connections in Modular Construction
En-Feng Deng,Jia-Bao Yan,Yang Ding,Liang Zong,Zhong-Xian Li,Xiao-Meng Dai 한국강구조학회 2017 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.17 No.4
modular construction is a new type of promising structures. This type of structure is an excellent alternative to conventional on-site buildings with advantages of shortened construction time, improved construction quality and reduced environmental pollution. A new concept of modular construction with novel connections has been proposed. This paper mainly focuses on the behavior and design of the innovative steel column working together with tenons at both ends. The fourthdifferential equation was firstly adopted to develop a theoretical model to determine the buckling length of the column. Then, a 3-D nonlinear finite element (FE) model was developed to simulate the ultimate strength behavior of the novel column under pure compression. Parametric studies reveal that the tenons play a significant role in affecting the ultimate load and the corresponding end shortening, among which the length of the tenons is the most important factor. The design approach and recommendations are also discussed through assessing the applicability of the current design code.
