Distribution of the Fairy Pitta (Pitta nympha) in the South Korea: A focus on protected areas

국내 팔색조(Pitta nympha) 분포 현황을 알아보고자 전국 국립공원 등 보호지역 중심으로 총 19개 지역을 조사하였고, 전문가 네트워크를 통해 자료를 보강하였다. 전국 19개 지역을 조사한 결과 북한산, 지리산 등 내륙지역 7개 국립공원에서는 팔색조가 확인되지 않았고, 경남 거제, 남해, 해남, 장흥 고흥 등 남해안과 인접한 12개 지역에서 팔색조 서식이 확인되었다. 또한 전문가 네트워크를 통해 수집한 팔색조 출현 위치 정보 82건을 분석한 결과, 전국 8개 광역지자체 모두 팔색조 서식이 확인되었고, 내륙지역(26.8%)보다 해안지역(73.2%)에서 더 많이 출현하였다. 연구 결과를 종합해보면, 우리나라의 팔색조는 주로 제주도와 남해안 지역을 중심으로 많이 분포하며, 그 보다 적은 개체수가 내륙 지역에 넓게 분포하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. The present study investigated the current distribution of Fairy Pitta (Pitta nympha) in South Korea. A total of 19 study areas, including protected areas such as national and provincial parks in South Korea were surveyed, and additional data obtained from an expert network. According to the results, Fairy Pitta was absent in seven inland national parks, including Mt. Bukhan and Chiri parks. Fairy Pitta inhabited 12 areas near the southern coast of South Korea, including Geoje, Namhae, Haenam, Jangheung, Goheung, and Gyeongnam Province. The analysis results of 82 datasets obtained from experts with regard to the locations where Fairy Pitta have been spotted showed that the bird inhabits all the eight metropolitan regions in South Korea, and is more frequently spotted in coastal areas (73.2%) than in inland areas (26.8%). The findings demonstrate that Fairy Pitta is mainly distributed in Jeju Island and the southern coast of South Korea, and is distributed in inland areas at relatively lower numbers.

이 연구의 목적은 제대군인에 대한 효율적인 전직지원을 위해서 현행 전직지원 프로세스에 대한 개선 안과 이에 따른 국방부, 국가보훈처 등 제대군인 전직지원관련 기관 간의 역할분담 및 연계방안에 대해서 제안하는 것이다. 연구는 크게 세 가지 과정을 거쳤다. 첫째, 국내 군 전직지원 실태를 분석하여 문제점과 시사점을 도출하였다. 둘째, 이러한 문제점과 시사점, 군 전직지원 선행연구를 종합하여 효율적인 군 전직지원 프로세스 안을 제시하였다. 셋째, 구축한 군 전직지원 프로세스 안에 따라 주요 군 전직지원 관련 기관인 국방부, 국가보훈처의 역할 분담 안을 제안하였다. This study aims to suggest an improvement plan for the support process of effective occupation change for discharged soldiers and then role assignments among related institutions for supporting discharged soldiers such as Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Ministry of Labor and the cooperation plan among the institutions. The study was made in three steps. First, after analyzing currents support facts and status for discharged soldiers, it induced its problems and implications. Second, integrating the findings of previous studies related to support plan on occupation changes for the discharged soldiers, Problems and implications mentioned above, it constructed effective occupation change process for discharged soldiers. Then, according to the established process, it suggested role assignments such as Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Ministry of Labor.
Moisture Wound Healing Characteristics of Alginate Sponge and Hydrogel

건조/가교법으로 제조한 알지네이트 스폰지 및 하이드로젤의 물리적, 생물학적 특성 및 창상치유 특성을 고찰하였다. 하이드로젤은 스폰지 대비 높은 평형 함수율을 보유하였고, 자체적으로 수분을 함유하고 있기 때문에 상대적으로 우수한 습윤 창상치유 환경을 제공할 수 있었다. 알지네이트 스폰지 및 하이드로젤의 사이토카인 결속효과에 기인하여 대식세포로부터 분비되는 전염증성 사이토카인의 함량이 감소됨을 확인하였으며, 특히 하이드로젤의 사이토카인 억제효과가 더욱 두드러지게 나타났는데, 이는 보다 팽윤된 상태에서 알지네이트 분자의 사이토카인에 대한 결속력이 증가함을 의미한다. 창상형성 초기 하이드로젤에 의한 창상치유 및 수축 효과가 스폰지에 비해 우수한 것으로 나타났으나, 상피화는 스폰지를 적용했을 때 보다 우세하게 진행되었다. 조직학적 평가와 RNA 발현 분석으로부터 알지네이트 스폰지 및 하이드로젤은 혈관 및 콜라겐 섬유의 형성, 상피조직의 재생 및 단백질의 생성 등을 촉진함을 확인하였다. Alginate sponge and hydrogel were prepared by a drying/crosslinking method and their wound healing characteristics were investigated comparatively. The alginate hydrogel had a higher equilibrium water content than the sponge, providing a moist wound healing condition without absorbing exudate from a wound. The amounts of proinflammatory cytokines released by macrophages were lowered due to the cytokine-binding effects of the alginate sponge and hydrogel. The hydrogel lowered the cytokine level more dominantly than the sponge, suggesting that the affinity of alginate molecules to cytokines increases at a more swollen state. The hydrogel allowed superior wound healing and contraction at the early stage of application. However, epithelialization was conspicuous when the sponge was applied. It was confirmed through histological examination and RNA expression analysis that angiogenesis, formation of collagen fibers, regeneration of epithelium, and production of protein were promoted using the alginate sponge and hydrogel as wound dressing materials.
Expression of the hippo signaling effectors LATS1/2, P-YAP, YAP and TAZ in pilomatricoma

Background: Pilomatricoma (PM) is a tumor related to the hair follicle that differentiates toward the hair matrix. The Hippo pathway is a signaling pathway that can control the size of organs. Hippo pathway components are known to be expressed in hair matrix cells, and an increase in Yes-associated protein (YAP) expression was found in abnormally large PMs. However, there has been little study about which other factors of Hippo pathway were expressed in PM. Objectives: We investigate the expression of components of the Hippo pathway to study their role in PM development. Methods: In paraffin section of tissue obtained from 24 patients who were pathologically confirmed as PM lesions, large tumor suppressors 1 and 2 (LATS1 and LATS2), phospho-YAP (P-YAP), YAP and transcriptional co-activator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ) expression were analyzed. Results: In immunochemical expression, YAP was significantly expressed in PM compared to negative control. YAP immune response was strongly expressed in basal cells, and transient cells was weak in the nucleus and moderate in the cytoplasm, and ghost cells was weakly expressed. TAZ showed similar results with YAP expression. LATS 1/2 and P-YAP were expressed weakly. Conclusion: Despite weak expression of LATS 1/2, P-YAP, strong expression of YAP and TAZ indicates that YAP and TAZ were activated by different methods independent of the Hippo pathway. It is conceivable that the trans cofactors of YAP and TAZ may influence the tumorigenesis of PMs.
Eruptive syringoma: an unusual presentation with androgenetic alopecia

Syringomas are common benign, eccrine, sweat gland tumors. Skin lesion present with numerous, small, firm, smooth, flesh-colored or yellowish papules on the face, especially the lower eyelids of adult females. Other sites, such as the scalp, axillae, abdomen, forehead, penis, and vulva can be affected. Eruptive syringomas, first described by Jacquet and Darier in 1987, present as a sudden onset of successive crops of numerous disseminated syringomas on the upper trunk, especially the anterior neck, chest, trunk, axilla, upper medial arms, and periumbilical region of adolescent females. And according to literature, the localized form can present with scalp alopecia. We present the case of 25 year old man with multiple, eruptive, asymptomatic syringomas on his anterior chest, trunk, axilla, and face that had persistent for about 10 years. Skin lesion present with numerous tiny hyperpigmented papules. And he have an androgenetic alopecia last few years. This case is unusual in that the patient``s sex and relative disease are not considered typical for eruptive syringomas.
Zr-89 Immuno-PET Targeting Ectopic ATP Synthase Enables In-Vivo Imaging of Tumor Angiogenesis

<P>In this study, we synthesized a Zr-89-labeled anti-adenosine triphosphate synthase monoclonal antibody (ATPS mAb) for applications in immuno-positron emission tomography (PET) and evaluated its feasibility for angiogenesis imaging. The cellular uptake of Zr-89 ATPS mAb was measured after treatment of cancer cell lines in vitro, and its biodistribution was evaluated at 4, 24 and 48 h in vivo in mice bearing xenografts. PET images were acquired at 4, 24, 48, and 96 h after Zr-89 ATPS mAb administration. Tumor angiogenesis was analyzed using anti-CD31 immunofluorescence staining. The cellular uptake of Zr-89 ATPS mAb increased over time in MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells but did not increase in PC3 prostate cancer cells. The tumor uptake of Zr-89 ATPS mAb at 24 h was 9.4 ± 0.9% ID/g for MDA-Mb-231 cells and was 3.8 ± 0.6% ID/g for PC3 cells (p = 0.004). Zr-89 ATPS mAb uptake in MDA-MB-231 xenografts was inhibited by the administration of cold ATPS mAb (4.4 ± 0.5% ID/g, p = 0.011). Zr-89 ATPS mAb uptake could be visualized by PET for up to 96 h in MDA-MB-231 tumors. In contrast, there was no distinct tumor uptake detected by PET in the PC3 xenograft model. CD31-positive tumor vessels were abundant in MDA-MB-231 tumors, whereas they were scarcely detected in PC3 tumors. In conclusion, ATPS mAb was successfully labeled with Zr-89, which could be used for immuno-PET imaging targeting tumor angiogenesis.</P>
